Do You Think This Doctor Is Lazy

Who has the joke about a doctor creating the diagnosis "lazy eye" and ends with "your liver's a slut"?

A comedian on comedy central had a joke involving the doctor who came up with the diagnosis "lazy eye". He said something like, "what if other doctors did this" and said i think the pancreas and was like "your pancreas is dumb... and your liver's a slut". Anyone know which comedian this was and where i could find the full quote?

Thanks

My doctor is lazy and I'm frustrated, what can I do?

It is perfectly normal for your doctor to expect periodic visits from you for medication management.  Let me give you an example- we once had a patient who had been taking the same dosage of antihypertensives for nearly year as she felt "fine" except for random headaches. When she came in her blood pressure was     170/100 and she had hypertensive retinal changes. She did eventually improve after increasing her dose of meds but she decided to sue her previous PCP for just automatically renewing her medications without appointments. So it is for your own safety that you are asked to regularly visit the doctor. The lunch time is always "planned" as 1-2 hours as there is almost ALWAYS one or two pts who come in late or who spend an hour discussing problems beyond the scope of their visit which all run into the physician's lunch hour. Besides, there are meetings often scheduled during lunch. Ever got free samples at your physician's office? Well, they were talking to pharm reps during their lunch break getting those for you. Most doctors also spend their "lunch" time going over lab reports of the previous day to call their patients. There are lazy people in every field but the reasons you state do not qualify as laziness.

How do doctors fix lazy eye?

It actually depends on the type of lazy eye...
Ie. does it turn in or out, does it happen all the time, and the refractive correction of the eye.

The treatment can vary from nothing, to glasses or contacts, to vision therapy, to surgery.

Its best to go and see an optometrist who can help you out, and let you know the best treatment for YOU!

Good Luck!

Are doctors now lazy and don't care about patients?

"Hello doctor, I've been having pain and discomfort in my entire body daily for about 5 years now and some days it gets so bad that I can't get out of bed. I have my "good" days but most of the time it's hard for me to function in daily life and I can't do all the things I want to do. I also get headaches, SEVERE period cramps, lightheadedness and fatigue. I get sharp pains in my stomach and back that sometimes bring me to my knees. I'm a pretty tough 22 year old, but have cried several times from the pain and feeling helpless. Also, over-the-counter meds like Tylenol and Midol don’t help me at all" - Berry

"Here's some Paxil." - Doc

"Hello doctor, I've had serious stomach problems for about 5 years including sharp pains, discomfort, frequent gas, diarrhea and constipation. I eat healthy most of the time and don't eat fast food. I think my stomach problems have resulted from my teenage partying phase where I drank and did drugs. I have quit these bad habits but have continued to have problems." - Berry

"Here's some Imodium AD.” – Doc

I feel these doctors don’t take me seriously and they just hand me a useless prescription without running tests, asking me questions or even giving advice about diet and exercise or what could be causing my problems at such a young age. Are my problems too complicated and they don’t want to deal with them? Do they think I’m lying or imagining it?

Where can I find good healthcare with a caring doctor who will take me seriously and actually try to help? In the meantime, I’ve been self-medicating with Loritabs for over a year because it’s the only thing I’ve found that has eased my pain and made it so I can function and have a normal life.

My GP said psychiatrists are lazy medical doctors and not really of much use. is he correct?

So i went to my GP for anxiety issues. I asked a lot of questions. he a young doctor about 30. He explained a bit about anxiety and anxiety medications. I mentioned maybe seeing a psychiatrist and he laughed, and said ' look, i can treat you just as good as a psychiatrist can' ... and i said to him, but they are specialists in mental health, psychiatry. and he said it's not a very difficult speciality in the medical field. They don't he said make much use ever of what they learned in medical school and basically just wear the MD in front of their name but cannot do much else than a psychologist can. He said if i wanted therapy try a cognitive behaviour therapist, or psychologist. But that basically he could treat anxiety better, by prescribing the medication he feels nessacary for the condition, and giving some pamphlets to read on anxiety. and audio tapes ! Do you think he was a bit insulting to those in the field of psychiatry ? he also said that most that go from medical school into that field are those that generally don't get the best results in medical school and those that felt the medical side of things are not for them. He said it's not a field he respects at all.

Doctor said my 4 year old needs surgery for her lazy eye, should I get a second opinion?

Please be aware that there is a time limit on the effectiveness of surgery. There is no other way to correct the condition. Look at her full in the face closely and without a parent’s eye. Do you think she would want to look like that forever? Talk to another ophthalmic surgeon for a second opinion but make up your mind fast. My husband needed that surgery but didn’t get it. He wished he could have had it, but he was born too early. Nothing to be done at all.

Why are doctors, especially dentists so lazy?

Thanks for all your valuable thoughts, and I don't mean to offend any of our dentist friends out there. I am frustrated and in pain. I did not want to give up, so made another call to the endodontics who said "we only do root canals". Apparently one tooth needs a root canal + crown and another needs a filling, but he refuses to do the filling because that is the job of a general dentist! I can agree that for special cases, we need a specialist, but I never knew that a specialist cannot do a routine treatment. So, I am back to sqauare one,a general dentist who will not do roor canals and an endodotist who will do root canals but no crown or filling!
Please share your thoughts on the costs involved..I am given an estimate of a whooping $1000 for the root canal, 80% of which will be taken care by my HMO, $1000!!!!!!!
FYI, I earlier I had 2 extractions, one crown and general cleaning all done EXCELLENTLY by ONE DOC in India for less than $200. He was wonderful, I may catch a plane..

I have ADHD but my parents think I'm lazy and unmotivated. What do I do?

Well, as a 17 year old Junior with ADHD, I feel qualified to answer this.I have experienced that my ADHD causes me to lose focus on what I’m doing unless it’s what I directly want in the here-and-now, or unless I’m invested in it for the long term.I was also unlucky enough to have been born with a high IQ, so I never learned what it really meant to work hard. I always argued with my parents and came up with excuses for this and that.Eventually, I learned some things to help me cope:get all work done ASAP, so you can do whatever you want in your spare timeNever sacrifice a good night’s sleepI needed to listen to my parents and respect them, because honestly, I thought they were giving me a hard time and they just wanted to help me.If you haven’t yet, see a doctor and get meds. It really helps :DTalk with your parents about ways you can improve while still getting the things you like, such as free time, or video games or whatever it may be.Good luck, friend!

I think I may be depressed. My boyfriend says I'm just lazy and unmotivated. How can u tell?

There are many symptoms for depression. These are the most common:

Depressed mood.
Inability to enjoy activities.
Problems concentrating.
Changes in eating habits or appetite.
Weight gain or weight loss.
Changes in sleeping habits.
Difficulty going to work or taking care of your daily responsibilities because of a lack of energy.
Feelings of guilt and hopelessness; wondering if life is worth living (common).
Slowed thoughts and speech.
Preoccupation with thoughts of death or suicide.
Complaints that have no physical cause (somatic complaints) such as headache and stomachache.

For me, the two many things that signaled my depression were anger and crying a lot.
