What would be a good first car?

If it’s for a guy then a Nissan 300zx z32 NA. Why? It’s fun, it’s mildly fast, ton’s of aftermarket support, timeless design, decently hard to fix so they don’t get overwhelmed if they get a complicated car after, it’s built like a tank, rwd because you know they’re going to go to a empty parking lot with friends on a Friday night and have fun. Gives them the fun of a convertible and a hardtop. Buy a facebook one for like $3000 and put liability on it so if they crash they either fix it themselves or oh well. (Currently owning)If you want a truck then just do any old ram(Currently owning 2003), but if they want something weird then a 1984 Honda acty. It’s a mini truck from japan so automatically it’s something that everyone would talk about, it’s super small so it fits anywhere, 4wd for taking it off road, can hold a few hundred pounds of weight so it can take a bit, when the engine dies just throw in a motorcycle engine, it’s super slow until a turbo hayabusa engine is in it, AM only radio which can be changed for like $100. At their high school it’s the talk of the town with just how strange it is, if they’re a band kid they can fit anything in it, use it for water jugs for football, carry kids across campus, go on curbs if needed, park it on the grass.(Job’s fleet car, we have 5 right now)If it’s for a girl then plain and simple na or nb miata. It’s cute, its slow, its cheap, they’re everywhere, easy to fix, only one friend, convertible, small to fit in the mall parking lot. Another option is a 04–06 chrysler sebring. It’s still decently reliable, big(like land yacht size), 4 seats, big trunk, stylish, cheap. (owned(Holds 2 marching podiums, three marching tubas, 4 trombones, 9 trumpets, and 4 people just with the top down))EXTRAS: Jeep cherokee, Jeep Wrangler, Civic, 240sx, Police interceptor crown vic(the lamps, intercom, and a sheriff's hat is enough explanation), police charger( same reason), and any tacoma.

Do you think getting a BMW 320D for a first car is a bad idea?

I will try to make this really really simple for you. This vehicle is a powerful machine. The braking system and suspension is amazing and the vehicle itself is fully loaded with technology. This is not a back seat boss car rather a driver’s car. So if you love driving, you will never regret buying this car.If this is your first luxury car, its a BIG yes. I have been driving this car for 6 months now and it always exceeds my expectations. Its really powerful and yet the fuel consumption is as good as a regular diesel sedan. There are 3 things that I would like to consider hereAre you buying a new car or a pre-owned car? If its a pre-owned car, I would not suggest buying BMW 320D that is more than 4–5 years old. This is the best point to buy it when the maintenance cost and depreciation are both low but do get it checked before buying. In this case you can drive it for 2 years and sell it. If its a new BMW 320D, you will get a major Depreciation hit in the first 5 years so its better to sell after 5-7 years only.Consider the cost of maintaining a BMW in your country? Parts are more expensive in some countries than other. For Example : They are crazy high in India. For the price of maintaining one BMW 320D, you can maintain 3 Honda City Cars of the same year (new vs new and pre-owned vs pre-owned)If you really want to go for a diesel engine If you are the kind of person who is going to use this car only on the weekends, you may better opt for a petrol engine than a diesel engine as you maintenance is going to be low in that case. Before going for the BMW, I took test drives of Audi and Merc of the same level. I personally got the best driving experience in 320D.Its Sheer driving pleasure. All the best!

When is a good time to buy your first car?

Never go shopping for a car thinking about how much per month you can afford. Get a total price for the vehicle, without any financing. Get your financing elsewhere, even pre-arrange it. Any time you get into, "It's only $250 a month" you are going to be spending way to much money over way too long a time. Now as to your question..The time to buy a car is when you need one (not when you want one.) Do you need a car for work because there is no public transportation? Do you need to transport materials that would otherwise require renting a truck? Do you have the resources to pay for the vehicle, the insurance, the gas, the repairs, the maintenance, the taxes, etc?  And where are you going to park it? Do you need to rent a parking slot? Do you have a garage? Is the car going to be parked in a non-secure location? If not, stick with alternatives. You have Uber, Lyft, trains, subways, buses, taxis, and rentals you can use. Generally if you don't need that car every day, these other alternatives will cost less, be less hassle, and let you enjoy life more.

How do I buy my first car?

I think the main thing you have to watch out for when buying your FIRST car is to make sure1. It's reliable2. It's cheap3. It's slow4. It's very strongComing from a guy living in the country with the shittiest drivers, this is why I think those are good standards when you're buying your first car.It has to be reliable because this is your FIRST car. If you don't know anything about cars you won't know how to fix it when you run into problems. Go Japanese like Honda, Toyota, etc. Make sure it's cheap. You want to MAKE SURE it's cheap because it is your first car. You don't want it to be expensive because it's your first car. It's the car you use to practice and become a better driver. If you crash, it will be no problem because it will be easy to repair and you won't worry about it more. Most people would worry about crashing it because it's a brand new shiny toy. But it's something for you to practice driving with so it should be cheap for when you get in an accident or when you need to repair it for messing it up.It has to be slow. I can't stress this enough, IT HAS TO BE SLOW. I live in China, the country with some of the shittiest drivers in the world. I've heard endless stories of people getting into accidents with their 400+ hp BMW's and also killing and injuring others while at it. These are mainly little spoiled 18 year-olds after just picking up their licenses. They don't know how to control the power and they don't understand the danger of 400+ hp. So you need to practice with a slower car. Last idea is that it has to be fairly strong so if or when you get in an accident you will be ALIVE. RIP Lee family I will miss you all

Is Mitsubishi Eclipse a good first car?

The only problems I have heard with them is bad door handles and crankwalk and its not even that common the door handles though thats another story i think you can get a metal kit that can be put on the back of the handle to fix this

What do you think of 2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 as a first car?

No I don’t, I think you should get a older one and learn in that, I also thing you would appreciate it more if you get a job and work for it and heres why.I worked everyday when i was 16 through high school to buy my first car , a 88 Toyota supra turbo, I loved that car and everyone in my school thought it was amazing. Most important thing is I wasn't “that kid” who had everything handed to me.Besides the hate you get from the other kids at school, its funner to hang with the majority of guys and girls that earn their stuff, it’s a respect factor of hard work that you should learn and not fall into the instantaneous now now now , i want the car now group.I hang out with guys like you with lambos/vipers/gtrs and although I could go out on a debt limb and purchase one i choose to drive my car that I built myself. I now drive a 88 ford mustang with 408w turbo that no money in the world could reproduce because it would never be the same with the work i put into it. Money can’t buy respect as much as you tell yourself that. Hard work will buy the respect of the people. So moral of the story is, their is more to owning a first car then just which one. Expect hate from your friends and general public driving a gt350 at 16. If you do go that route be safe, that car is more power than you can imagine.
