Do You Think Wwe Will Ever See A Boom Period Again

Will wrestling ever experience a 90's era-type boom period again?

No it's too late for thatThe 90s have already been over for two decades now (almost 3) and a lot of things that made the decade cool are no longer relevant today, because you have social media, smartphones and internet access which were things that were very expensive in the 90s and not a lot of people had access to wrestling outside of the WWF (WWE was called WWF back then) WCW and ECW, you had Independent shows but unless you had friends who knew about them and were a die hard wrestling fan at the time (pre-internet) you could only watch what was on TV at the time when it was on and if you missed an episode, you couldn't go back and watch it again, that was the only time you could see it (unless you had a VCR and VHS tapes and recorded them every week).WCW and ECW which were the WWF's competitors don't exist anymore and a lot of their talent migrated to the WWF as well as the change from the WWF to the WWE in 2002, the brand split, The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin retiring and being replaced by Brock Lesnar, Batista, John Cena and Randy Orton, The Attitude Era guys left, left for TNA (now Impact Wrestling) or ROH and a lot of wrestlers have died, the presentation of the show went from a adult oriented and raunchy product to a family-friendly show like it was before The Attitude Era, so no it's not possible now, too many things have changed since then.

Do you think WWE will ever see a boom period again?

At the beginning of this year I would have said we were about to see another boom period. Bryan was hot, the Shield was hot, the Wyatts were hot, Cesaro was hot, and the tag team division was on fire. Cena, Orton, Batista, Sheamus, and Christian were all in good spots and the mid card was starting to look the strongest it had been in years with Big E, Ziggler, and Del Rio putting on good matches. John Cena said himself in an interview in February that he truly believed WWE was the closest to having an all star roster for the first time since he first started. Then injuries, dumbass booking, and Vince McMahon's complacency (which is probably the reason for the dumb booking) ruled the summer and I can't say there will be a boom period now. I must say though after watching that 2K15 panel last night there may still be a glimmer of hope. Roman Reigns and Cesaro did not seem out of place among Austin, Cena, Hogan, Sting, and even Sheamus who has been a big PR guy for the company for a few years now. If Vince McMahon would use his roster right and push good characters and wrestlers instead of Adam Rose's bunny, Adam Rose, and Slater Gator we may see and interesting product again.

Do you think if CM Punk was pushed stronger, he'd create another boom period for WWE or at least draw more than Brock Lesnar?

Meh, CM Punk gave all he could in the WWE, but couldn’t be held up in “Wrestlers Court,” how to talk, act, dress, not chew gum all of that, which led to other wrestlers like Ken Anderson (Mr. Kennedy or Mr. Anderson) and Eric Adrnt (Enzo Amore, Real1) leaving. They couldn’t do the stick for anyone, not even Triple H. He was never really a draw, Punk came in there, when no one couldn’t and won the World Heavyweight Championship on the fly, through a “Money In the Bank” three times, the first two he was on fire, the third was just mediocre at best, he was feuding with Jeff Hardy and then, the Undertaker as his Savior Gimmick, in 2009, in the SES Society (Straight-Edge Society), Adam Copeland (Edge) accused Punk of wanting to be like him, because his lifestyle and group had the name “Edge,” at the end of it. Punk was always the quiet guy in the backthat sooner or later had the pipe-bomb and was too real for the WWE, to begin with, his late interview gave him a chance to get things off his chest with the company, he didn’t appreciate them not putting him, over when they were supposed to, a few years prior, they had plans for Daniel Bryan, but squashed it, by having Batista win the Royal Rumble in 2014 instead of him. His discomfort with them firing him, on his wedding day was the final straw that brought the camels back, he walked out, after losing in that same Royal Rumble, where Batista had returned, Kofi Kingston threw him out, then he left. Him winningThe case against them, is sure enough reason for him to be gone. He was pushed strong from 2008–2010, was on commentary with Jerry Lawler for a brief time, then returned to the ring to feud with John Cena and lead the New Nexus, which those plans were scrapped, he got over as an anti-authority babyface who stood up to Vince McMahon, John Cena, Triple H, John Laurinaitis, Chris Jericho, Alberto Del Rio, Paul Heyman, Curtis Axel and Brock Lesnar, within that time,he grew tired and had no use for being there. He wasn’t pushed too strong, but somewhat, it’s a shame, because the company is about the weight and height of the champion, it should be combined with their character and the odds were stacked against him at every turn.

Have you met a WWE superstar before?

In 1992, I shook hands with Bret Hart after he defeated Ric Flair at a house show. He went around after the show shaking hands with all the fans. He was still out there when the ring crew was taking the ring down. It was pretty cool that he took the time to do that.

I met Shawn Michaels at a non-wrestling event back in the late 90s. He was super cool. Various people were at different booths, selling pictures and autographs, but my mom and I got a picture with him for free. He also signed an autograph for my mom.

I can't remember if this was this year or last year, but I attended a taping of SmackDown! and a live airing of Raw. After Raw ended, DX was in the ring. They invited a few fans into the ring to celebrate shoving Eric Bischoff's face into the fat stripper guy's butt. I went in with them and shook hands again with Shawn. My friend stayed behind for some reason. Triple H put an arm around me and another fan while some girl took a picture. I high fived him, too, and it felt like my hand was broken! I stayed away from the stripper guy.

That same night, between the two shows, I yelled to Lilian Garcia if I could get a picture with her. She stood and waved me over. She actually put her arm around me and pressed up against me for the picture. She went above and beyond, since she had to do some announcing about five seconds after my friend took the picture.

When they had the WWE vs. ECW show on USA in June of 2006, Matt Hardy wrestled a dark match. After he won, he leaned against the rail and kind of posed for the cameras they had rolling. I put an arm around him and talked trash to the camera. He didn't say or do anything, but I was glad he didn't call me a stupid mark and punch me.

At the same event, after Cena chased off the ECW guys, I put an arm around RVD and yelled, "You don't want any of ECW!" at John. RVD looked at me, looked back at Cena, and yelled, "Yeah, listen to this guy!" Then he high fived me and went to the back.

What was the attitude era wwe?

So WWE is split into different eras. They are the (WWF) Golden Age, The New Generation, The Attitude Era, (WWE) The Invasion, The Brand Extension, and currently, the PG Era.

Now the Attitude Era was from 1997- 2001. The Monday Night War was the reason this era happened. What happened is that WCW was winning in the rating wars, and WWF was about to lose one of their best wrestlers, Bret Hart. So WWE, in desperation, took a new route and focused on controversial storylines to get the ratings. This would result in the Montreal Screwjob, which would create the evil mr. McMahon character, who played a huge role in the attitude era. The era began shortly after the Montreal Screwjob when Austin defeated Shawn Micheals for the WWF title, thus beginning the Attitude Era. With the Attitude era, WWF changed from a family program to a much more controversial program, where sex, drugs, and violence references were used to appeal and attract viewers. This includes the Austin character, who drank beer on tv, gave everyone the middle finger, and raised hell. DX was making sex jokes and acting as degenerates. Women were used as eye candy to appeal to male viewers. Great superstars like HHH, The Rock, Kane, and Mick Foley were becoming huge. More hardcore matches were being introduced like Hell in a Cell, and controversial gimmicks and storylines were used, like the golddust character (who groped wrestlers and was quite eccentric). The attitude era was unpredictable, and the stories and action was great. And wrestling fans miss that, but because of the PG Era (everything that is not the attitude era) fans can not see it coming back. WWE was driven because of WCW, but now that they are gone, there is no real competition. The PG era seems to be all about keeping a clean image and the company making money. The Attitude era was about controversy and getting ratings, and the "hardcore" fans just miss that.
