Do You Throw Up With Gallbladder Promblems

I'm throwing up bile and I don't have a gallbladder?

No, but you have a liver (I hope!)

Bile is made in both the gall bladder and the liver. When the gall bladder is removed, the liver steps up to create more bile on its own, though usually not as much as the gall bladder would.

What problems can you have, when you do not have a gallbladder or bile duct?

I can help!!! I too had my gallbladder removed and all my food went right through me. The reason this happens is that your liver produces bile (a green liquid substance that helps your body to digest fats). Once the liver produces the bile, it stores it in the gallbladder. When you eat a meal with fat in it, the gallbladder squirts out as much bile as your body needs to digest the fat from that meal.

Your liver still produces bile regardless that you have had your gallbladder removed, however now it has no where to store the bile that it is producing. So what happens is, once the liver produces the bile it goes straight to your lower intestine and sits there in a pool. Once you eat a meal, it hits the pool of bile (which is more bile than is necessary to digest that meal) and you have diarhea.

Being the research queen that I am, and doctors being as useless as they are (because no doctor was willing to acknowlege this problem or offer me advice, even though EVERYBODY I have ever talked to that has had their gallbladder out has had this problem), I have found the antidote.

You must take Calcium suppliments every day. I find that the calcium carbonate works better than calcium citrate (although I have heard the exact opposite, you have to find what works for you). Calcium once digested becomes like a powdery chalk which absorbs the excess bile sitting in your lower intestine. If you do this, you will never go through this again. I take two 600 mg tablets every morning and this works for me. You have to play with the dosage for yourself to see what works. If you take too much calcium you will become constipated, so once you find your dosage stick with it.

I was very happy to come upon this question and that I was able to help you. I promise you that this works. Good luck!

P.S. They sell a very large bottle of calcium carbonate at Walmart and it lasts me a long time :)

What are the symptoms of gallbladder trouble?

Signs and symptoms of gallbladder problems can include fever, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, chills and shaking, chest pain under the breastbone, abdominal fullness and gas, and abdominal pain. Abdominal pain can be severe, located on the right side (right upper quadrant) or in the upper middle of the abdomen, may subside over 12 to 18 hours in uncomplicated cases, may be recurrent or with similar pain in past, occurs following meals, worsens during deep inspiration, radiates to the back or below the right shoulder blade (right scapular area)and worsens after eating or drinking greasy (high fat) foods or fluids. If you feel this fits your symptoms, please see your doctor.

What are some of symptoms of gallbladder problems?

The symptoms you are having could be gall bladder, but could also be other things--like your heart. I do hope you see your doctor asap to determine what tests to do to be sure. I had mine removed in 1999 after having similar symptoms, however, upper back pain and chest pain are frequent symptoms of heart problems. I feel for you regarding your pain. Gall bladder surgery isn't what it used to be and if that is your problem and you have to have it, that will solve your problem. If it's something else, that can be treated also. Guessing or worrying about it just brings more stress. Just get it checked out with your doctor!!

What are the symtoms of a bad gallbladder?

They can vary widely, but in general, nausea, vomiting, "indigestion", pain in the upper right quadrant of your abdomen (below the right ribcage). The pain can vary between nagging discomfort and acute, call 911 type pain. If you are diagnosed with gallbladder disease, and the recommendation to remove it (cholecystectomy), these days the procedure can be done laproscopically (through small holes in the abdomen), rather than the previously done large incision, most people are hospitalized one day or less.

Re. gallbladder disease?

Hi, I am now 26 but a few years back. I had my gallbladder removed because ultrasound tests and endoscopies showed stones. My symptoms included heartburn and pain on the right side of me just under my ribcage. Then pain even went all the way through my back(with the pain lasting several hours). I had nausea, and vomited a lot also. Avoid alot of fatty and spicy foods. Once you have you ultrasound ask about and upper endoscopy. This test is very uncomfortable. Although they give you medication that relaxs you and you may even fall asleep. That didnt work for me, I was awake during the first part of the procedure which is the insertion of the tube. That test is well worth it. Along with gallstones, I had polyps in my stomach as well. I now have to have the endoscopy yearly but the biopsy came back abnormal. It was later removed with another endoscopy. Don't be afraid and be persistant. I have been symptom free for a few years now and the procedure worked out great for me. There are some drawbacks to having your gallbladder removed. such as frequent and loose bowel movements that can take up to a year to improve. Google, Gallbladder, gallstones, and endoscopy. You will definitely find what you need to know.

Does a gallbladder secrete bile?

The gallbladder stores bile salts that are secreted by your liver. Bile salts are important for the emulsification of dietary fats which allows it to be absorbed by your intestines. The liver secretes small quantities of bile salts throughout the day and the gallbladder helps contain these salts and concentrate it. The gallbladder contracts and releases it’s contents into the duodenum (first part of the small intestines) when fat is ingested. Dietary fat stimulates the I cells in the duodenum to release cholecystokinin (a hormone) which triggers the contraction of the gallbladder.Patients who undergo cholecystectomy lose their reservoir and have problems metabolizing dietary fat as bile salts are now continuously released in a small trickle into the intestines which is inadequate for proper absorption of dietary fats. This results in some patients complaining of bloating (abdominal distension), increased flatulence, cramps and steatorrhea (oily stools that float). This is called the post - Cholecystectomy syndrome. Reduction in fatty foods will usually solve this problem.

Can you throw up after getting your gallbladder removed? I thought the gallbladder getting filled with bile that causes you to vomit, so wouldn't removing it make you never throw up again?

Simplified lesson on the gallbladder: It stores bile which is produced by the liver. Bile is an emulsifier of fats. So when you eat a fatty meal, your body releases a chemical called cholecystokinin which makes the gallbladder contract and squeeze a little green colored bile into the upper part of the small intestine. This helps break down the fat. I used to tell my patients it was like a squirt of Dawn detergent in the dishwashing water. So, if you have to have your gallbladder removed because it is diseased or full of stones, then you no longer digest fats as well, and, subsequently, you stools may be greasier. The gall bladder doesn't have any control on whether you throw up. It doesn't really affect the appearance of what you vomit, either. Second half the lesson: the stomach makes acidic digestive juice which is golden yellow in color. When you throw up (vomit) it is due to strong contractions of the walls of the stomach and relaxation of the lower esophageal sphincter (basically a valve at the top of your stomach). Vomiting is mediated by the tenth cranial nerve, called the vagus nerve, which sends a message from the brain to the sphincter muscle at the top of the stomach to relax, and the walls of the stomach to contract. This forces stomach contents backwards from its normal flow. Hope this helps.

If you have gallbladder disease, can that make you vomit?

a gallbladder attack can cause horrible vomitting.
