Should China receive refugees?
Depending on whom those refugee are. If they are more or less from East Asian culture group, I won’t mind too much especially when the number is small.If they are from Middle East, hell no. They are just too much pain in the ass and too much cultural difference to deal with on top of the problems China already has with illegal immigrants from Africa. More over, they are extremely hard to assimilate into a general Chinese culture while accepting those people will mean more public security risk and more extreme Muslims which China already has a headache to deal with (lots of hard line religious Uighur want Islamization of China. Screw them.).More over, why should China accept refugee when they are not caused by our intervention in the Middle East and there is a better solution call pacifying the region (probably the US won’t like this)?And we already got enough Chinese in the country, adding more population that is highly unstable is just not desirable and goes against Chinese birth planning.
What will the world look like 50 years from now? What technology will we have, what will the economy be like, and what will the geopolitical organization look like?
An invitation to speculate. Nice.1) all new cars will be electric. You will be able to get gasoline for your antique Ford Festiva, but it will be difficult to come by and you will have to plan ahead. It will be similar to what happened to vacuum tubes in the middle of the 1900's. 2) self- driving cars will be ubiquitous. It will be similar to what happened to the elevator industry in the early 1900's. 3) home and work charging will be ubiquitous. It will be similar to what happened to the movie theater industry with the advent of TV and VCRs. Highway travel plazas will be repurposed as DC fast charging stations and have more amenities pecs use people will be spending 30 to 40 minutes there. But that's okay, because:4) battery capacity will triple, at least. That means that a car like a Tesla Model S will have a range of 600 miles. Far beyond the bladder range of most people. It will be similar to what happened to the smart phone industry over the past 10 years. 5) with less complexity in the drive train, there will be less need for auto repair facilities. Car dealer networks will have to either change their business models radically or die. It will be similar to what happened to the TV repair industry in the last part of the 1900's. 6) solar energy will be ubiquitous. Most homes and public buildings will have solar panels and storage batteries for overnight. The central grid will not go away, but it will reduce the need for new fossil burning plants. It will be similar to what happened with the telecommunications industry over the past 40 years. 7) having a driver license will be about as useful as having a pilot license is now.
What will the year 2100 be like?
Life wont be much different than it is now. People will still need normal food. Humans will stay mortal. Everyone would go to their daily jobs. Everything will be similar to as it is now. The only changes that will come will be in Science, Technology and consequently the quality of living. Let's speculate about it :Science:Hopefully, all known forms of cancer will become curable considering the amount of research that is being conducted in this spectrum.We may have solved the problem of quantum gravity by then and have finally arrived at a theory of everything. We may have solved the problem of alternative clean fuel by then!We still might not have a proper solution of the Riemann Hypothesis.We still wont know Interstellar travel! (Not happening anytime soon!!)TechnologyThis might be affordable in 2100! 3D Hologram for Communication!We still won't have achieved complete AI! (*sigh) Hover cars might be available.We may have found a way to mass manufacture graphene!Space tourism might be possible!Hopefully a MARS colony might be set up by then! Yes, I am talking about SpaceX.Quantum computers might be cheap and useful by then!Quality of LifeMost of the important luxury things will become cheap!Thanks to alternative fuel, which would be discovered by then, transportation would become cheap.Due to technological advancement, digital communication would become cheap and also advanced.Programmable assistant robots might be available commercially.Due to alternative fuels, and various other reforms, the effect of global warming would be reduced and temperatures might start dropping again. We will be able to have a higher agricultural yield with the help of technology. Hence food will be cheap and available for everyone.I know this may be too much of positive speculation.
