Does anyone know why the South wanted to expand slavery thoughout the nation?
They refused to rotate their crops for religious reasons, consequently most of their cotton growing land was spoiled and unproductive. They had to get new land or their way of life would be ruined. Most of the big plantations by the Civil war were failing due to poor soil conservation.
Oh come on, no one here knows how to expand this logarithm?

Vertical alignment is placing similar terms under each other while expanding a product. This makes it easier add them. Here is an example. The first line of the expansion is x^3 multiplied by each term in the second bracket. The second line is 2x^2 multiplied by each term in the second bracket. The third line is 4 multiplied by each term in the second bracket. (x^3+2x^2+4)(5x^3+x+3) =5x^6 + 0x^5 + x^4 + 3x^3 +0x^6 +10x^5 +0x^4 + 2x^3 + 6x^2 +0x^6 + 0x^5 +0x^4 +20x^3 + 0x^2 + 4x + 12 =5x^6 +10x^5 + x^4 +25x^3 + 6x^2 + 4x + 12 The final line is the sum of the three lines above. Since like terms are placed above and below each other, it is easier to make the sum. N.B. The terms on the left with 0 coefficients are not so necessary. I had to put them here because this text editor won't allow spaces. The terms with 0 coefficients in the middle help to keep everything lined up (but aren't essential.) Vertical alignment with 0 coefficient terms is quite important in long division of polynomials.
