Does Anyone Have A Good Idea For A Plot Twist

A cool plot twist idea?

Maybe she actually murdered her younger brother because she was insanely jealous of him, made it appear that he had committed sucide (perhaps by hanging); she was able to suppress the fact and the memory and was never suspected. She becomes a psychologist and surrounds herself with people similar to her brother in the subconscious desire to assuage her guilt, although, because she has successfully suppressed the truth of the murder, she can not understand her motivation. The revelation (perhaps derived from her own decision to undergo psychoanalysis) could be the twist and surprise ending. What do you think? Good luck with your story!

IDEAS FOR A PLOT TWIST?

well the guy could dump the girl for her best friend but that is pretty expected.

Does anyone have a good idea for a short horror story?

How do you write good plot twists?

There are four basic types of plot twists:The never-saw-it-coming twist, where, out-of-nowhere, there is a sudden shift in the narrative direction. This is the type of twist that Raymond Chandler was referring to when he said that if a writer gets stuck in a story they simply need to have someone show up at the door with a gun. No one sees it coming because there is no way to see it coming. Like when you learn at the end that the main character is actually an alien. The tricked twist, where the audience is not told key information so they can be “surprised.” Oh…so he was in a hospital the whole time. You find this type of twist often in the work of new writers who think a story is all about the O’Henry twist at the end.The plot-line twist, where the story is thrown in a substantially different direction by happenstance or coincidence. In this type, a particular storyline is established and then thrown by some event. Like if we see a character work up the courage to finally confront his parents about childhood events only to discover when he arrives that his parents are not his parents. The naturally-evolving twist, where everything the audience has been exposed to in the narrative was leading to that moment but the audience mistakenly thought it was leading somewhere else. Like the big twist in The Usual Suspects or The Sixth Sense, where you can go back through the story and find that all the information was there, you just couldn’t put it together.#4 is the best type because it evolves naturally throughout the story. It is also the most difficult to achieve. It requires careful planning, forethought, and serious writing acumen. #2 is a cheap trick and usually just irritates your audience, thus having the opposite effect of what you want a twist to do. #3 is part and parcel of any skilled writers arsenal as it helps them to avoid writing stories that merely unroll. #1 is useful because it is effective and easy to deploy; however, it lacks the power of #4 and relies a lot on the surprise factor.

Does anyone have any ideas for a short Australian story that has a plot twist?

yes

Plot twist idea for my short story?

Watch Memento for inspiration! It's about a guy who has short term memory loss & only remembers events that happened before a certain incident. The entire movie goes backwards to make the viewers feel like we have short term memory loss as well.
Summary & trailer: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0209144/

As for the story, how about…

she gets a visit from someone who claims to be her boyfriend or husband and the story becomes her journey in uncovering whether or not she made the right choice in trusting the guy. The reader knows as much as the protagonist.

-or-

she gets taken to prison after her body recovers but she is confused because she doesn't remember what she did that got her to be locked up. Then some visitors come everyday at different times to tell her what happened before the incident (here is how she gathers enough information to know what happened). The visitors come at different times & are not aware that this girl has other visitors besides them (she does not tell any of her visitors that other people come by to see her). The twist is all up to you, but you can always write that all visitors somehow end up visiting her in jail at the somewhat happens after. You can write that the protagonist was framed by the visitors who took advantage of her amnesia (so THEY should be the ones in jail, not her).

The first one is a love story and the second one is just mystery i guess :) it would be best if limit the reader's knowledge of what's happening so that they keep reading.

:D I would love to read the final draft of this story! Even if the topic is "cliche" it doesn't matter as long as the story isn't.

Can anyone think of any good ideas for a cinderalla story which has a twist in it.?

yes. Cinderella gets pregnant and has no idea who the man is that got her pregnant . All she knows for sure is that the man is black. She learns who the father is after she has a test done. Unfortunately, the black man has no money so she has an abortion. The abortion is paid for with "Obamacare".

What are some good plot ideas? I've been wanting to write a story, but I'm not sure what to make it about.

Every plot has one thing in common: the protagonist wants something. If he's a detective, he wants to solve a crime. If she’s single and lonely, she wants a partner. If he's a master theif, he wants the one priceless object he's been chasing for years.Your three main decisions: who your protagonist is, what he/she wants, and whether or not you want him/her to get it.Your secondary decision: who is the antagonist (the person thwarting the protagonist’s efforts)?I can't give you a plot, I can only point you toward finding one. There are excellent books out there about crafting effective plots. Here are two that I recommend:The Story Equation: How to Plot and Write a Brilliant Story with One Powerful Question (Brilliant Writer Series): Susan May Warren: 9781943935116: Amazon.com: BooksMastering Suspense, Structure, and Plot: How to Write Gripping Stories That Keep Readers on the Edge of Their Seats: Jane K. 10PTS! Any good plot twists for a Horror story?

Well, I have all ready finished writing my horror story, but I think it's missing some twist that will make the reader thrilled. To give you an idea, my story is about a teenage boy who receives a friend request from a stranger. Things went wrong when the protagonist found out that the stranger is somewhere inside the house, as he was chatting with him. He later saw his parents' mutilated corpses in the kitchen, and then the stranger appears and murders him.

I have received a positive feedback since letting my friend read my work, although I think that I should have a good twist, especially on the climax part. If you have any ideas regarding the twist, please answer. It will be of great help!

Thank you very much!

What are some good plot twists I could use for my short story?

The way to make a plot twist is to pick something that people totally take for granted, and then make that, not that. For example, in the classic thriller, Psycho, there are two notable plot twists [SPOILERS]:The first is that the viewer is led to believe that the protagonist of the movie is the actress Janet Leigh. Of course it is her. How could it not be? She is a famous actress, she's on all the posters. Gasp! How on Earth will she face the titular psycho and emerge the exhausted, but victorious, heroine? The twist is that she doesn't. She is killed off in the first half of the movie. Now that's a shocker! Can you imagine being in the audience when it first came out? A true WTF!The second twist is its infamous ending, in which the final reveal shows that Norman's mother has been dead all along, and that meek and mild Norman is one seriously sick weirdo. The title of the movie punches you right in the gut at that point.Another movie famous for its twist ending is Sixth Sense. The final reveal shows that something we'd been taking for granted the entire movie is the reverse. But it all completely makes sense and our mind suddenly whooshes back through all the scenes of the movie and sees them in a new light. You may have seen it coming, but even if you did, it is still a powerful twist. So that's all you need to do for your story. Subvert unconscious and deeply held expectations and assumptions. One of my most successful twitter horror stories was this one:"He took the little girl with the promise of sweets. They found the body a few days later ripped to shreds, but they never did find his head."With that one masculine possessive pronoun at the end, the entire understanding that you were building in your head while reading it gets flipped. Like a rug being pulled out from under your feet. It is the same process as a good joke. It is like staring at a Necker cube, your mind is forcefully flipped to seeing it another way. It is a "violation of expectations."
