Does Anyone Have Dysfunction Of The Belch Reflex

Terrible gag reflexes?

I, too, have a high- gag reflex, but I am not as sensitive as you with food in my mouth. I have a difficult time swallowing dry pills, so I buy empty gelatin capsules online and place dry pills inside the empty capsules and swallow.Choose size "00" which is larger in size. I have GERD, a digestive disorder and I must have a Gastroenterologist spray my throat with a numbing substance before an endoscope is treading into my esophagus and stomach.

You should investigate at Google or Yahoo and ask the questions whether medication sprays exists to numb the back of your throat

There is a slightly numbing spray I use to attack sore throat and you can feel the numbing effect in your mouth and on your tongue. The brand of this spray is Chloraseptic that also make lozenges. Of course, this spray is not to deaden your throat, but might be worth a try to experiment. While in the pharmacy, consider using digestive enzymes to speed digestion that takes the stomach and intestines 4 hours. I always use digestive enzymes before eating spicy food, and I never have had heartburn.

Good Luck.

Does everyone have a personality disorder?

Everyone has a unique personality as a human being which is normal. A Personality disorder usually is 1 person expressing multiple personalities other than the normal one which makes them who they are. Meaning some can have completely different personalities or have a specific emotion which makes them have a different personality. For an example, someone who is usually very nice, sweet, down to earth, never angry, all of sudden starts to display an angry/short fused personality. A Personality disorder can mean many different emotions other than what they normally express and/or a Personality switch which can be looked at kind of like an identity switch. An example for this is kind of like that movie Me, Myself and Irene which is a comedy. Another Movie as an example is Primal Fear and that is a more serious kind of movie or Drama.

Is constipation, chest congestion, being light-headed & feeling food hard to swallow symptoms of GERD?

The symptoms for GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disorder which is synonymous with Anti-Reflux Disorder). The symptoms are :
1. heartburn, the primary system described as a burning sensation that may radiate to the neck, jaw or back
2. Pain aggravated by bending over, straining or lying in recumbent position
3. Pain recurring after each meal and lasting fro 20 mins to 2 hours
4. Regurgitation not related to belching or nausea, warm fluid traveling up the throat, resulting in sour or bitter taste
5. Water brash (reflex salivary hyper-secretion)
6. Difficulty and painful swallowing
7. Chest pain from esophageal spasm
8. Belching and a feeling of flatulence or bloating after eating

You have your symptoms of GERD, however you have some symptoms that are not related, in fact some seem cardiac related and I would suggest to go see your doctor ASAP and get a thorough check up. Don't allow them to just treat your symptoms but follow through for a diagnosis. And follow the instructions you are given, if they don't work after giving it ample time then continue to voice your concern, don't let a doctor ever tell you you are not feeling what you know you are feeling. Patients have rights but you must be diligent about getting results.

How to stop nausea & belching?

Self Care for Belching
Belching, bloating, and distention are difficult to relieve, since most complaints are due to either unconscious aerophagia or to exaggerated sensitivity to normal amounts of gas. An attempt must be made to reduce aerophagia.
Since aerophagia may be due to excessive salivation, it is important to avoid habits like excessive gum chewing or smoking and to treat digestive diseases (e.g., peptic ulcer) that may cause hypersalivation as well as disorders that may cause nausea and reflex salivation.

it sounds like gerd to me. i had the same symptoms. i would be nauseas after eating ANYTHING, stomach aches, and hearburn. I had a EGD done and turns out i had gastritis, which is different from gerd. but typically with gerd you feel worse when you lay down. go to your doctor and have him check you for that. there are meds to control it. if not you can get an egd done to see if it's an ulcer, or gastritis, or something more serious. hope this helps.

Do everyone have a psychology disorder?

No…..yes….maybe…sorta?Look, to classify as a disorder an important criterion is the question: “Does it impair the patient or their surroundings in their daily functioning?” (this can be either by impaired functioning, pain, anxiety, or dangerous behavior). If it’s not impairing the patient we get in this grey area where we have to ask ourselves, is there even a problem here? The way we look at the brain and mental health nowadays is in terms of spectra or a continuum. In a way everyone has everything, everyone has symptoms of autism, depression, schizophrenia, etc. But in the vast majority these symptoms are not severe enough to be noticed and certainly not to be an impairment to daily functioning. The vast majority will also not develop these in any significant way, in many cases it requires a lot of factors (biological and environmental) to exacerbate what’s already there. It’s when things get way out of hand that we speak of a disorder, when the behavior is so far from the norm and it poses some kind of danger or impairment. That’s when we proceed to a diagnosis and treatment options. No reason to worry, brains are very complex yet most of us get about life just fine without too many problems.
