Does Anyone Know Any Reliable Sites About Native Americans

Why doesn't Native American ancestry show on my DNA test? I found out I do indeed have not 1 but 2 native American ancestors.

I spoke on the phone with a representative from Ancestry about this. They advertised finding ones Native American DNA on TV a couple of years ago.I asked about reference DNA data sets that Ancestry uses. They told me their reference data for native american DNA includes Canada and South America ONLY.So, if your test comes back POSITIVE with Native American DNA, your ancestors were likely Canadian or South / Central American. There are no USA Native American DNA reference groups. This was the case about 2 years ago when I called them. I accused Ancestry of false advertising. They said no, that their disclaimer that they cannot provide tribal DNA covers that, and the non-USA NA DNA is still NA DNA.So, if your test comes back NEGATIVE, you could still be a descendant of a person of Native America from the USA. It is just that your NA DNA cannot be matched with a known reference group, so the DNA results will provide a best fit, a close match, a second guess. The ancestors of the survivors of the Trail of Tears forced removal march from the South East USA out to Oklahoma during the Indian Removal period in the early to mid 1800s have not been tested as a group. There have not been any efforts to date that I know of to research this group and provide better data sets.If Ancestry is serious about DNA, they could invest in finding some of the descendants of the Creek and Cherokee peoples, for example.

Mormons believe that Native Americans are descended from the Middle East, is there any truth to this?

Mormons literally believed that all native Americans and Polynesians were literal descendants of a small group of Jewish immigrants that arrived in the Americas around 600bc.Because of recent DNA discoveries, Mormon apologists have been forced to walk back on their position because of the growing body of genetic evidence that confirms that native Americans descend from immigrants that crossed the Bering Strait. This evidence directly clashes with the claims made in the Book of Mormon. Mormons now that the Jewish-descended Nephites were just a small group surrounded by non-Jewish native Americans and that the Jewish DNA markers were diluted out or eliminated with their destruction.Yeah, maybe…But when you look at the complete absence of any archeological evidence supporting the historicity of the Book of Mormon, then you see there is no good reason to conclude that the Book of Mormon is anything other than a 19th century invention.

Why don't mosquitoes bite Native Americans?

ok nobodys researched for your question, i will tell you what i have scientifically researched: caucasians usually have a different blood type than full native americans. native americans usually have rare blood types which are considered pure because there hasn't been much mixing of types with partners. one such blood type like this is AB. mosquitoes generally prefer sweeter blood like the O type (which I have - I ALWAYS get bitten) and more common ones because they are genetically used to it.

Native American dreams?

M-kay, didn't you just post a question a few weeks ago saying that your grandfather was Choctaw?

There's a difference between Cherokee, Choctaw and Creek. For one, if his parents were from Oklahoma...it would be kind of hard to have that admixture. In case you didn't know, Creek and Choctaw don't mix with Cherokee. Our people don't usually get along. It's a heritage thing - Choctaw and Creek up until the 1800's were at war with the Cherokee. We wouldn't even move with them in the Trail of Tears. We insisted we go first. Even after they put us on reservations, we were at war with the Cherokee over lands allotted to us and the lines that were drawn.

To the Muscogee (Creek) women are more important than men. They hold more power and should be respected as they are the givers of life. Our clans are even matrilineal and most of our elders are and have always been women. A Muscogee man would never think about hurting a woman, any woman. There are consequences within our Nation and within our traditions and rights that prevent and punish a man from doing so. In the past, it was by death. Now, it is just imprisonment for as long as the woman and her family deems necessary.

I know I have more authority and respect in my household than my husband...and he's white.

I have dreams of NDNs, but then again, almost my entire family is NDN as am I.

Native American DNA?

Hi,
I am a bit confused about a DNA test I took a while back.
My family has assured me it is wrong and there could not
possibly have Native American. The test showed 12% by the
way. Also the DNA company who did the test said it may be
Asian instead, because the markers are so close.
We have a very documented family tree that shows
only Dutch,French,Danish,Irish and English ancestors.
My mom is from Oklahoma and father from South America,
but they are sure of 100%.
If if is 12% Native American, this seems to be a very recent
ancestor.
Does anyone have accurate experience with these tests?

Native american genealogy?

You need North Carolina Records for the Oxendine Family and Lumbee Tribe. Mostly in Robeson County. Ancestry.com has scanned images of NC death certificates of lots of people named Oxendine.

http://www.ncgenweb.us/ Click on Robeson County for records. Also use the free LDS FamilySearch.org or see if Library has Ancestry to use or your local LDS Family History Center.

As for Nancy Kayshire Bridges use Google search as all sorts of results and trees are found.

Where can I find native English or Americans with whom I can practice my English?

If you have a smart phone, join the Hello Talk community: Learn English Chinese Mandarin Korean Japanese Spanish German French Italian Russian Arabic App. It’s completely free and everyone in the community wants to learn a new language. So, what you do is to exchange your language knowledge for that of English with a native speaker. So, you need to be willing to make this language exchange. When you sign up, you have to fill out a profile about yourself. You tell people about the language you speak and which language you wish to learn. I suggest that you interview more than one person and pick the one you feel most comfortable with or you might choose to partner with more than one person. It all depends on how much time available you have for the exchange.I suggest you prepare yourself ahead of time both for your target language conversation and your own language; choose a topic and write down some questions to use during your exchange time. Doing this will save time and both you and your partner will get the allotted time practice. I suggest thirty minutes for each person to start. If things work out well between you and your partner, you may want to add a little more time to it or not. Always make sure both of you are on the same page!If things don’t work out with a partner, don’t feel discouraged or upset! Just politely tell the person that things are not working out for you, but thank them for trying. Then, move on and look for someone else. Only looking can you find the ideal language partner!I hope this helps!

Is this a real Native American name, or is it fake?

"Namid" doesn't mean anything. "Naamid" is one of their words for "dancer" though. (just dancer, no star) " oniimii " is another Ojibwe word for dancer, and I don't know the subtle difference in meaning between them. There is a wonderful Ojibwe lady on this site though, I expect she'll answer shortly and enlighten us both.

For a reliable site for finding a real native name, this is the only site you can use-

What's this for? Not another non-native person trying to write a book about indians, I hope? ( Why do 10 people a week try to write about a culture they know nothing about?)
