Does Anyone Know Any Self-defense Tactics

What are some good self-defense tips and tactics against a person?

Have situational awareness - Be aware of your surroundings. Know what to look for. Don’t get distracted. Situational awareness is the best way to defend yourself. The more aware you are of your environment, the more options and time you have to develop the proper strategy.Know your enemy - Never underestimate or overestimate your enemy. You have to know who you’re dealing with. The reality is you can’t control who you’ll face. You could be dealing with anybody - an armed robber, a murderer, a trained killer, a trained martial artist, you name it. You can control your tactics and strategies to deal with such a person.End the threat ASAP - In my school, you don’t exchange blows like most people do. You target the body’s most vulnerable parts and end your attacker or attackers as efficiently as you can. You also develop the strategy to put your attacker or attackers at a disadvantage.Fight-dirty - Eye-gouge, bite, rip an ear, break limbs, hit the groin, headbutt, use weapons, do whatever needs to be done to survive. Usually, your attacker will give up or be severely weakened when you hit the groin or break a bone. Break his/her neck and your attacker’s mobility is gone. Threat over.Fight the way you train - This is the problem with most self defense systems. You cannot effectively defend yourself if you don’t fight the way you train. Are you really going to touch gloves with your attacker? Play fair? Spar? Do your flashy step 1–2–3 techniques? No? Why would you train like that?If you want to learn more, check my video and subscribe.Got students in Michigan and the middle east if you want to train with them. If I hit someone out of self defense, do I have to pay for their medical expenses?

Yes.Why do I say “yes” for this answer? Because the chances of it being a “yes” are not small.Whenever you go to court, anything can happen. The unexpected sometimes occurs. As other answers have said, “you have to prove it was self defense.”Where are you going to do that? You have 2 chances:When the police first arrive. In court. It is absolutely vital to establish to the witnesses and police that you were being provoked against and attacked.See my related answer here: Christopher Hinton's answer to If I defend myself and hurt the aggressor in the process, how would I prove to the authorities that it was self-defense?It goes a long way if you used reasonable force in defending yourself. If the police decide not to prosecute you, you risk that the attacker will file a civil suit for damages, especially for medical bills. Here you will have to prove somehow that you acted in self defense and were reasonable in doing so. If the judge takes a disliking to you, or if the other guy is very convincing, or if you don’t get a chance to show your evidence or explain your side well enough, then you just might get a judgment against you.Life isn’t fair sometimes. Be very careful about setting yourself up for zero-sum-gain scenarios. It is always best to avoid conflict whenever possible.

What is the best form of self-defense for a woman who is very small (shorter than 5'3")?

You've got some good answers here; I'll just add my personal experience. I am 5'4" -- slightly taller than your friend -- but in my mid-30s I was 100lb soaking wet. I had never actually hit anyone in my life, so I always had a question about how well I would be able to defend myself or my children. I invested in a serious self-defense course that utilized full-contact, adrenalin-state training. It was amazing, and I highly recommend something like that for anyone. Here are a few of the key points I remember, but training is really key. 1. Always try to diffuse the situation first. 2. Use your voice -- be loud and stand strong and with confidence. Someone who preys on the weak might back off when faced with a target who is more aggressive than he expected. 3. Consider when you run -- you can be chased and may end up in a worse scenario. 4. If it becomes physical, commit 100%. Don't be afraid to hurt your attacker or to get hurt. You will have injuries -- your goal is to keep it from being worse. Go all in. 5. If it becomes physical, keep attacking until your attacker is disabled/unconscious. Never turn your back to your attacker, even if he appears disabled/unconscious. 6. If there are people around, point to one and TELL them (do not ask) to call the police. If you just ask a crowd to get the police, there's every chance no one will.

For self-defense: do groin attacks really work?

I'm in a women's self-defense class, and there's a lot of techniques targeted at the groin (which I'm sure is no surprise to anyone.) Every guy friend I've spoken to always says stuff like "If a woman tried that on me, I'd block it...." or "...I'd catch the leg and then......blah blah blah....beat the tar out of her." Or they say stuff like "It wouldn't work if a guy had his adrenaline running."

The instructors teach us that guys protect it instinctively, but then, people protect their eyes instinctively too, and they teach us eye pokes. No one ever claims those wouldn't work. Why all of the reactions?

So, does anyone know from experience or witnessing, are groin attacks really an effective technique to learn? I imagine that any oppurtunity could present itself in a struggle, but will adrenaline really stop a good solid hit or grab to the balls?

Self defense nipple twist?

Hey guys I was wondering is there a self defense tactic for someone who is nipple twisting you, what do you do to counter attack them (and please don't say nipple twist them back)...
