Does Anyone Know Good Place To Get Helmets For Riding

Why does it have to be mandatory to wear a helmet while riding a two wheeler? Is it not a personal choice for someone to do so, for people can feel comfortable and enjoy the ride in their own way?

Thanks for the A2A,Sure, the GOVT could have made the use of helmet a public choice, rather than mandate by the law.Of course, you would feel comfortable riding without a helmet, enjoying the environment and feeling the wind in your hair. Of course, you wouldn’t want to spend your hard earned money on some “Stupid” Head gear because, let’s face it, you believe that you’ll look cool showing off your hair. But when you fall, and you will at some point or the other, and make the news, who do you think is held responsible ? Yes, the rider, then the police for not stipulating the rules regarding road traffic and blame comes right back to the GOVT, courtesy Social Media. So, the GOVT, in a attempt to make themselves, not liable (or) accountable to these blames and charges of the social media, and the people themselves, decided to denounce any responsibility regarding any public mishaps and incidents by making it a law to protect themselves from having these mishaps. But, you, being the great Indian that you are, came off spewing some shit about people making their own choices and liberty of surviving.Just so you know, “Suicide” is illegal in India. Meaning you can’t kill yourself. Even if you want to, you can’t. So, there is your clarification regarding the so called “Choices of Surviving”Hope that helps.

What type of helmet is best for 50cc Moped riding?

Full-face helmets are usually the quietest and offer the best protection in most crashes.

In the UK they have to be CE approved, tested by a governing body and stamped to say they've passed. Nowadays, you can get helmets that have been SHARP tested. This new SHARP test goes into more tests with the helmet before they're sold. This SHARP rating adds extra peace of mind before you purchase/use the helmet.

There are some 4 + 5 star helmets for less than £100 on the market now. Some are available at GhostBikes: http://www.ghostbikes.com/categorylist/O...

Make sure you measure your head. There are guides to this and the size you need on GhostBikes' website. GhostBikes have a shop and if you want to check that they are comfortable for you, you can try them on in the shop before you buy! :)

Good luck, safe riding

Has anyone gotten busted for wearing a non DOT motorcycle helmet in California?

A long time ago, The law is not strictly enforced anymore thanks to an ABATE challenge of what constitutes a DOT helmet.
I wear a skid lid and have not been bothered by the cops in years, nor has anyone I know.

What does the upside down bow mean, on show helmets?

This is such a good question - and although I've been riding and showing since I was a kid (and I'm now middle aged) I'm still not 100% certain of the answer.
When I was in Pony Club I was told that a bow hanging down from the back of a helmet was a sign that you were a professional rider. I was told that as an amateur you needed to bring the bow back up fasten it to the helmet itself.
But I've never heard that reasoning since then, and while I see everyone with the upside down bow, I've never really bothered asking what it's all about and where it origionated. Since English riding came from Europe, I'm hoping that someone out there knows the real reason what it means, and where it started.
I'll check your question tomorrow to see what everyone else had to say!
Hi again.
I still think the professional thing is correct. My first show helmet was when I was a kid, and it did come with the bow hanging down. We had to take the long part hanging down and pull it up and tuck it inside the helmet, then tack it on with thread. So I know that the old style helmets could be adjusted this way. Would you believe that 25 years later I'm still showing with the same helmet - but I've had many schooling helmets since then (and they're all Troxel's, my favorite brand) As schooling helmets they didn't have a bow, so it wasn't a problem, and the new show helmets I've observed all have the bow automatically tucked in)

Is there any evidence to suggest that wearing helmets while biking can actually increase the chance of injury?

Reading Matthew Bellringer's answer to Are you safer riding a bicycle with or without a helmet? you will see the general thrust of the anti mandatory helmet argument, to wit:Urban cyclists don't get in crashes that helmets can do much about;Requiring people to wear helmets discourages people from riding;Getting more people on bicycles creates a safety-in-numbers effect;Encouraging cycling benefits the health of the population at large. As Colville-Andersen says in the interview, the insidious effect of helmet laws is to segregate bicycling as a recreational activity, not an activity of daily living. Seeing people wearing helmets while riding bicycles makes bicycling appear dangerous and discourages bicycling, making it look incredibly risky and necessitating lots of special equipment. To put Colville-Andersen's argument in the wider context, he is not a public health expert, he is an urban planner who emphasizes designing cities that are more livable and pleasant places to be, and by and large that means reducing car traffic. The bicycle is a tool for that, but as he says in the beginning of the interview, he sees the bicycle as analogous to a vacuum cleaner, a tool that everyone has, everyone uses, and to which there's no stigma attached. And to add my own personal experience, with my business I am riding large, heavy, sturdy bicycles with trailers attached along busy city streets. It has been years since I have fallen off my bicycle, the design case for bicycle helmets. On the other hand, every couple of weeks someone in New York City is killed while riding a bicycle, not by falling to their death, but by being run over by a motor vehicle. A helmet is not going to protect me from the traumatic shock I would suffer from being run down by a bus or garbage truck. I do wear a helmet, but I wear it because it makes me appear safety minded to actual and potential customers, not because I think it's going to save my life.

Why we are wearing ego (doesn't care about others) rather than wearing helmet while riding a motorcycle (as I am from Chennai, I am asking about Chennai only)?

Because, we just dont care enough to make the right choice. In any given situation, we tend to do what benefits us.We are the most lethargic, bunch of people who will complain the system, but will do nothing against it.You are not alone, If you wear your helmet regularly, stop at red signal, not overtake from left, give way to people waiting and follow all the road rules, you are 1 in a 10 million in Chennai.Cheers.

Wearing a helmet for bike riding?

I recently bought a bike and am planning on integrating it into my spring/summer work out. I haven't ridden since I was about 14 (I'm 20 now) but I'm getting the hang of it again. However, I haven't ventured out on any bike paths because I don't have a helmet yet.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how/where to buy a helmet that doesn't look ridiculous? And how do you know it fits properly?

Anyone know if it's required that a person wear a helmet in NJ if they are over 18?

I'd prefer not to wear one, but I'm going to go ahead and be safe. Rather do that than risk smashing my skull against the pavement.

Do you know people who are careless when horseback riding with a helmet?

My younger brother is like this. He's 16. He thinks that having a helmet is sort of a ticket to be careless. I've tried to teach him good habits. The trouble is he knows good habits, but thinks a helmet will save him from everything. Not looking for a definitive answer, but just seeing if anyone can relate.

Which company helmet is the best in India in terms of both cost and quality?

https://sharp.dft.gov.ukThis is an independent organization which tests helmets by picking the helmets of all major brands from the shelves of the stores. So before buying one, do visit the site and check the rating of the particular helmet.Helmet is by far the most important safety gear a motorcyclist should always wear and I cannot put enough stress on its importance.Talking about safe helmet brands.Due to globalization, almost all safe helmet brands are available in India, it’s just that one needs to put in effort to do the research.List of SAFE HELMET INTERNATIONAL BRANDS:-AGVHJCLS2AIROHBELLSCHUBERTHARAIKBCMARUSHINSHOEIX-LITESAFE HELMET LOCAL BRANDS:-STUDDSVEGAP.S: I havn’t included MT branded helmets because recently a 20 year old budding racer crashed in coimbatore’s race track and had a head injury and he passed away due to the same. He was using an MT branded helmet with DOT specified. The crash wasn't that fatal that the helmet couldn’t have resisted the impact. Perhaps the quality was inferior. So to avoid any chances, avoid those helmets. There are other Local brands as well such as : Steelbird and the like but I personally will never go for them.I also do not believe in the ISI specifications by India so i avoid wearing helmets with these.Try buying helmets with DOT/ECE specification. For daily commute, I use an LS2 FF352 ATMOS helmet. For highway runs, I use my HJC CL-ST 2 helmets.Note: I know good helmets are a burn to one’s wallet and almost all of us are initially apprehensive about buying a costly helmet, but trust me, it’s worth way more than that. There will be a day when you crash with your motorcycle, maybe because of your fault or maybe because of someone else, but when you crash, it’ll be your helmet to save the most vital part of your body: HEAD. If you can buy a 20K smartphone, I don’t find a reason for you not to wear a helmet costing 5–6k but which will SAVE YOUR LIFE.And, always wear a FULL FACE HELMET unless you don’t love your JAW.#BURN RUBBER NOT SOULI'm personally using 2 helmets.LS2 ATMOS: For Daily use and commute.AGV K-3 SV GLIMPSE: Bought it recently. Will be using it for highways mostly. This is the LS2 ATMOS.Below is the AGV K-3 SV GLIMPSE
