Whether by natural selection, or by directed hyper-mutation, or by lateral gene transfer, living organisms do make the necessary genetic changes in order to adapt to new conditions. In this way cultures of bacteria can become resistant to new strains of viruses, or produce enzymes necessary to break down material such as nylon. But they remain fundamentally the same species, only better adapted to their present environment. However the notion that all the parts of our bodies have "evolved" by way of adaption is plain ridiculous: is my liver an adaptation, or my solar plexus for that matter? What about my spleen? The human body is an intricate network of interrelated parts comprising a holistic function: do you seriously believe that such an intelligent system could have evolved through the selection of best DNA replication mistakes? Quantum computers are like silicon computers except they take advantage of a property of atoms that they can be in several places at once so that they can make multiple calculations simultaneously. Quantum computers are probably farther away form becoming commercially available, but several big companies such as lockheed martin have invested in building more powerful ones so we might get a breakthrough in the next decade.

Why is evolution not a scientific law?
"Law", "theory", "hypothesis" and all of the other words that denote shades of believability are constructs imposed from without. Science in practice doesn't parcel out ideas into neat little boxes with defined characteristics regarding how believable they are; instead, practicing scientists decide for themselves how much they believe an explanation by evaluating the evidence in support of it. The more important that idea is to their research, the more effort they'll spend in evaluating it. Because of this very personal relationship with critical ideas, the "truth-shading" terms above are rarely, if ever, used in a professional context. I think this, more than anything, is one of the things non-scientists struggle the most to understand about science: "truth" is fluid and subject to change in the face of new, compelling evidence. Nothing is ever definitively decided because there are always more experiments to be done and more ideas to consider. When it comes to evolution in particular, the evidence required to supplant or overturn it would have to be extraordinarily compelling. Evolution is an astoundingly useful idea for explaining everything from the molecular basis of life to phenomena surrounding populations and everything in between. It's nimble, it's elegant, and (perhaps most importantly) it has an incredible amount of utility supported by a mind-boggling amount of evidence. If calling it a "law" is what it takes to demonstrate to the general public that there's zero sane professional controversy surrounding evolution, I guess that's what we should do.
