How can I stop getting scared after watching a horror movie?
Yes. I use these two techniques personally. I'm so shit scared that when I need to pee in middle of the night I probably need someone outside the bathroom door keeping a watch for me (just in case those fictional characters were real and would come to kill me at night while peeing. Haha yes, mind doesn't work by logic at night.)Technique No. 1 -So the technique number 1 is to watch it in mute. Unmute when dialogues are being said.But keeping it on mute will allow you to be not that scared when something or someone suddenly appears.Sound effects of these movies make it more scary.Another psychological hack with this is that watching it on mute won't let you completely submerge in the scary atmosphere, you'd be able to differentiate between what's a real world and fiction.Hence, you'd be way more less scared.Technique No. 2 —So this may sound stupid but it works. So be with me here. I use it. It does help.Step 1 - Make your friends or family watch it with you.Step 2 - When you start feeling scared, make jokes on the movie, make fun of it.The psychology behind this is to ridicule it that your brain knows it's not supposed to take the scary movie seriously. Two come to mind. In about 1963, they did an entire parody of TV Guide. Night by night, show by show, every show with a quick and cutting description. Here’s an example I thought so clever that I memorized it. Wednesday 9 p.m. “DAKOTA” — North Dakota and South Dakota have a fight over which state this Western is about. North Dakota wins so the show is now called South Dakota.Another winner was their Hollywood Surplus Clearance Sale. This was a series of ads selling clichéd props from movies. So there was a whole ad on guns. “Pioneer Woman’s Gun — when aimed in the air and fired, it will kill an Indian on a fast horse at 50 yards.” Then there were sales for swinging doors in saloons, chandeliers that crash to the ground at the slightest gunfire, etc.

Harem- Usually a boy surrounded by lots of pretty girls who may or may not have a romantic interest in him. There is also a reverse harem where a female is surrounded by males (like Ouran). Bishonen- Beautiful boy. A handsome male character. Yaoi- Generally a pretty graphic story involving two males in a relationship (often includes sex) Josei- Generally aimed at older women. Mecha- Robots and the like. Shounen- Means boy. Generally action type things which boys would stereotypically enjoy. Seinen- Generally aimed at older males. Shoujo- For girls, usually. Parody- Used to poke fun or mock original pieces of work. Yakuza- Japanese mafia.

Parody: a farcial imitation of a literary or musical work or style. Rip-off: Slang meaning to steal, cheat or exploit. It's a definite way of stealing something. Homage: Anything done to show respect, honor or show reverence to someone or something. 3 completely different meanings. A parody can be respectful or hateful. It can be positive or negative. Mel Brooks did parodies of Alfred Hitchcock thrillers with his silly movies as well as the horror movies of the early 1940s. They were hysterical but not mean nor disrespectful to the originators. Homage was paid to Ted Kennedy by his family, friends & peers at his funeral. Rip-offs are what scammers do to you. They make counterfeit copies of things, steal your ID, make believe you are getting way more than they can actually deliver.
