Does Anyone Know Why British People Portray Americans As Obnoxious Loud People In Their

Why are Americans generally so opinionated when they don't know much about the outside world?

Don't mind the insults, or the touchiness...That's the way Americans are..Thank God I'm a mutt. American's think that because they are technologically more superior then other countries, they think they are the smartest, and the toughest..They consider other ways to be primitive and dumb, and "typical of third world countries". Of course, Americans aren't the only ones that are arrogant but..They certainly show it more then others do, don't they?

I'm sorry for offending anyone but..America is spoiled. Because their ancestors tell stories of other countries not having the same rights as us (Which is true), they try to scare children..They try to convince them that America is number one, because of their advances in science, technology, and their so called freedom.

A lot of Americans hate their own country because Americas arrogance is what's causing others to hate them. Most Americans just take one glance at a history book involving the opium war, and they just immediately go "oh, bunch of stupid chinks. We're better then that".

They're consumed by their own arrogance...

And if I may ask, Why are you all so touchy? Calm down..Why must we be number one? Why can't we just...You know, live life?

You may also notice that because someone doesn't speak english, a lot of Americans will accuse that kid of being stupid or dumb..

Anyone notice the British butler stereotype in American shows?

so can i
but i always think its portrayed in such a way its relevant and usually humerous to the story line
but i have to say, living in the uk, i have never known one single person to have a butler!!!!

What do the British think of Americans?

Now, I know, this question gets asked a lot on here. However, it's typically answered by other Americans as well as the Brits. I was hoping for only British opinions.

I've heard a lot. Sometimes people say that you guys look down on us for poor etiquette and stupidity. I've also heard that you love us, like we're your little brother or something.

I understand this gets asked a lot, but I'm honestly just interested in hearing some new opinions.

What do you think of our accent?
What do you think of our democracy?
What do you think of our culture?
What do you think of the Americans who visit?

Yada, yada, yada... You get the idea.

Why are Americans ignorant and narrow-minded?

I watch a lot of good American t.v shows, and a lot exaggerate the British to being posh and too polite. This annoys me so much because that was the 60's around when The Beatles seemed posh, although, it has REALLY changed. Liverpool, parts of Manchester, parts of London and other places are more rough than you would ever imagine. Did you know Mike Tyson was scared, along with his bodyguards, to enter a Manchester stadium for an arranged professional fight.

Also, why do Americans support Wales and Scotland? Is it so they can gain independence and make Britain non-existent and England's power would be even less than their prime was.

Btw can you guys check out The Inbetweeners, it is a program of four posh boys in a posh area but it is VERY funny; much more than The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air. There is a film being released soon, maybe in America too?

And don't get wound up over this, I know your small brains can overheat easily.

Does anyone else think American news is too opinionated and political in nature?

YES!! Mainstream media doesn't broadcast "news" anymore, it's "infotainment". They package a target audience to sell to their advertisers. If it's been awhile since you've seen the movie "Network", it's worth seeing again because it's just as timely now as thirty years ago. The difference being that the key theoretical concepts of conglomerate ownership and news-for-profit have become the reality of TV news today.

I'm especially skeptical of corporate sponsored media news because I see potential conflicts of interest (i.e., health, oil, defense industry ads). Therefore, I prefer non-mainstream, viewer-supported news sources (i.e., PBS, LINK-TV).
