Does Breaking Bad Make It Ok To Use Drugs

What drug were Jesse and Jane doing in Breaking Bad?

It was definitely heroin. I don't remember the scene or anything but.... Heroin is sold mainly in two different forms. One way is dry, kind of white or brown colored, and either chunky or powder (china). Other way is wet/sticky/gooey and brown or black colored (tar). I'm going to assume the show used the first example I gave because it is more common right now than the second. In the show, this is what Jane ultimately died from, too. She was really high, sleeping and then she ended up choking on her own puke. Getting sick like that is common from using heroin... but most people are awake when they throw up or they have a high tolerance so they don't puke at all. Also, usually when people in real life die from heroin it is because they simply overdosed or did too much. They would be essentially unable to even choke on anything because heroin suppresses a person's ability to breathe to the point where they just stop (which could be immediate or it could be after they've been passed out for hours).

Does breaking bad glorify drug use?

If a person is retarded enough to want to bankrupt himself, lose his health (teeth too, if using meth), and ruin his family's lives, all because of a stupid television show, then it tells a lot about said person's character.

Why not do some real research as to the destroyed lives from the use of these illegal drugs. Don't forget to visit a local nursing home, where there is bound to be at least one person under the age of 25 who is wearing diapers and unable to function or speak because of an overdose or debilitating stroke.

Breaking Bad (TV series): Why did Lydia get into the drug business in the first place?

The program never addresses this directly.Speculation: Indirectly, the show addresses the fact that Lydia has very expensive tastes, especially in clothing. She is also shown living in a large home and apparently has a live-in servant. All of those things require that she earn an exceptional amount of money, possibly more than she would earn from Madrigal. It seems likely that greed was the primary motivator for Lydia's participation in the scheme,

Do you think shows like Breaking Bad encourage drug abuse?

No, what Breaking Bad shows me is how stupid the people in the US are with their healthcare.Nowhere else in the developed countries does a person runs the risk of bankruptcy because of a disease.

What is Breaking Bad about?

Well I just finished watching the first episode of the show, and I enjoyed it. It's about a middle aged high school chemistry teacher who finds out that he has lung cancer. He works as a chemistry teacher and at a car wash because he needs to make money to support his wife and disabled son. After he realizes that he will never make enough money to get proper treatment for himself and support his family, he starts making crystal-meth with an old student of his who he found out also uses drugs.

I really did like the pilot and am about to watch the second episode. Hope you enjoy it!

In Breaking Bad, how does Skyler launder their money?

I had to take anti-moneylaundering training while working in the banking industry.A typical approach is to  set up a largely cash based business. A good example would be something like a small appliance (microwaves, kettles) store in a poorer neighbourhood where fewer people have credit cards. You price the goods at a high markup. You will have some legitimate business from actual purchasers, but a lot of the revenue will be  your friend or colleagues buying the goods (either physically, or on paper) with money you have given them. You then have a legitimate source of income. There are some downsidesYou are paying tax. For a criminal that can be hard to swallow. There's a Richard Stark (aka Donald E. Westlake) book where some professional armed robbers are talking about how they launder their money. One younger guy says he doesn't pay taxes... the older guys look at him in horror and disgust, viewing trying to play fast and loose with IRS an act of appallingly   poor judgment. You have to pay the running costs of the business. But organized criminals can view these as a cost of doing business.the downside of course is the people running the business are often criminally inclined.... them may be tempted to cheat you, or worse, the IRS.

Why do people like Breaking Bad?

I've seen a few episodes while my brother is watching it and it honestly looks like it's about a few meth heads making drugs and shooting people, along with other effed up stuff.
Now before I trigger you further, I know what it's about. Guy gets cancer. Can't pay for family. Goes into drug business.
Now that's sweet, I gotta say, but drugs? It had to be drugs?
This show is literally glorifying drug consumption and whatnot which kills thousands every year. It glorifies homicide, doing crap that could get you killed.
And yet, it still has a 9.5 star rating on IMDB. Everyone loves it. But why?!

Does Breaking Bad glorify methamphetamine use and production?

If something is being glorified, it is honesty.  Every time Walt has been less than honest in his life, misery has resulted.  The central lie of his life is that he was happy with his existence as an underpaid high school chemistry teacher.  He's replaced this lie with an even more toxic deception: That he's embarked on this career of cooking & selling meth to provide for his family -- and not because it feeds his hunger for achievement and success more adequately than anything else ever has.  Over the seasons of the show, he also hides his activities -- and what is worse, his emotional state -- from his wife, Skyler.  If you've never been in a solid marriage, you might not realize what a betrayal this is, to shut out your partner and leave her wondering what's going on with you, but it's huge.  Skyler gets a lot of criticism from viewers for being a killjoy (to put it mildly), but all she really ever asks of Walt is to be the husband and partner he promised to be.  Because the viewers overwhelmingly side with Walt, they identify with Walt's own reaction, that Skyler is being overly demanding and critical, but realistically, she's asking for the bare minimum of what anyone would want from an increasingly distant and secretive spouse. In contrast, notice what happens when people don't lie or manipulate the people in their lives, but admit what's going on with them, admit what they need.  When Skyler knows that Walt needs a way to launder his money, she helps him find a way.  When Hank admits that he fell short of his own standards, it brings him closer to Marie and helps him make his peace with his fate.  When Skyler shows Walt how much money he's made and asks him to quit, he does.

Battlestar Galactica or Breaking Bad?

I know it's like comparing apples to cows.....but if you have seen both, which is better?

I hear they are both great, Breaking Bad has a really great IMDB rating which is usually pretty reliable. And lots of my friends, even the non-nerds, recommend BSG.

One question, you would have to have done drugs to be able to really answer, does Breaking Bad make you want to do them? As in, does it glorify them or does it just happen to be about them? I don't get addicted to stuff but when I see people getting all high it makes me want to and I don't need that.

(I will probably watch both in the end, but which should I watch FIRST?)
