Does Craigslist Have A Phone

Why does Craigslist have to verify my phone number?

Its seems this is all BS, as for Craigslist and their standards are NOT up to Parr, their worrying about scammers ? their all over Craigslist posting Fake adds, renting and selling homes they do not own,and Craigslist does very little about all the problems BUT yet they want ones phone Number for something they can 'NOT control any ways, their is much more too this that happens behind close doors, and when Craig himself started this he set it up in a way he he could not be held responsible for anything that happens.
But when he was pressured by the police and threaten by them for a crime that was committed via Craigslist, i can't recall if it was a child molester and a rape case, BUT he refused to cooperate until they forced his hand.

Yet the BS continues Daily in scams on the list, so just if this is suppose to help it doesn't if it did their be much less, because these people stay one step ahead of how to get over and many not even in this country so bottom line their nothing they can do...

So why should we have to give up private information, People take a stand for the little privacy we have left, fight for it and keep it private.
Their are so many business that ask for even your drivers license, and you do not have to give it to them to record any information on it, you can flash them your picture and that's it, your Driver License and social is the keys to your soul. Ive pointed this out to my daughter many times and have taken the stand and argued when the cashier says we have to , when its BS and if you call the manager he will confirm your right....

Got a stolen phone off craigslist?

I found a cracked s4 on craigslist the other day and offered to trade the seller a droid dna for it. After some texts, we finally met. It went well, although the seller seemed to wanted to do this fast. I went to a sprint store to double check the esn, and they told me it was stolen. I was shocked. I texted the seller a few times, first about the phone, then about trading back, and the third time threatening to call the cops. He called me after a few minutes angry saying my droid somehow cracked in his hand and it had bad esn. He told he if I want me"sh*t" back I must meet him again. I was angry. Can Verizon have bad esn? I thought that thr droid dna was a gsm phone, and gsm has IMEI? How the hell does it just crack in his hands? I have pictures of him and his family on the phone. Also, even if it is, a bad esn droid dna cracked is worth less than a bad esn s4 cacked, so wouldn't he be asking for it back, unless he was lying. What should I do? Call the cops, and possibly risk losing all my stuff? What if it really is cracked and somehow actually is bad esn? Should I call Sprint so they can notify the seller? I am really pis*sed at the seller, and feel like doing something with the pictures. Please help

Why does Craigslist ask for phone verification AFTER you create your ad?

By now you are aware of it's a rip-off, so I won't go into that. As for Ebay vs Craigslist: I've had an Ebay vendor account when you consider that 1998. I now not sell there due to the nightmare it is turn out to be for occasional retailers. That and the ever increasing charges are making Ebay the last option for promoting. I've determined Craigslist to be the better option not handiest since it can be free, but the seller gets to call the shots. A Craigslist vendor can and will have to require cash best as cost. Ebay prohibits utilising cash as a process of fee. In addition they prohibit tests, cash orders, trades, or some thing else you could believe of. Their most effective allowable approach is PayPal, which Ebay owns and can charge you a price for utilising. In the event you ship the guitar and the customer claims he did not get it you'll in all likelihood be left maintaining the bag and Ebay will return the buyer's cost. It will occur although you utilize supply affirmation. Backside line.. I do not recommend making use of Ebay. BTW.. The long-established 'Craigslist murder' took location in Savage, MN. The dwelling where it happened is a ten minute stroll from mine.

It does now

Does craigslist verify the phone numbers posted in ads?

some ads require a valid email and phone verification to post. ( if you can get that to happen.. good luck) but you could put any phone number in the text of the ad.

weird huh ? private persons have an impossible time posting a simple ad and have circus hoops to jump ..yet the scammers and spammers can post hundreds of scam ads without a problem.. its all a inside dirty money making deal

You may find the person is adamant and simply won’t deal with you unless they’be got a credible identifier for you. The person is weighing the potential benefit of doing business with you agains the likelihood that you’re somehow bogus. I would explain your policy to the person, then offer to meet at the Starbucks (or other good meeting point) nearest the person at the time of her choosing. That reduces the time and investment required of the person, and might be enough to get a deal without a phone number. Absent that, if you really want to find a way forward you could buy a pre-paid ‘burner’ phone and use that for CL deals. Law enforcement could track it back to you, but for the average person it should maintain separation for you.

Putting phone verification on a website is very popular practice to avoid spamming on a website. Since phone numbers are limited and one user in most cases use just one phone number, this helps craigslist to prevent spam on the site and let one user only post one ad in 48 Hours.A few BlackHat Marketers use softwares to post hundreds and thousands of ads on craigslist without hassle and abusing the site with bulk posting. However, craigslist is now in very much in control after they put phone verification on their website.Read my Recent Blog Post How to avoid Craigslist Flagging and Ghosting

I think it’s not safe. If you give out your phone number to public, everyone who sees it can call you. You may get endless spam calls. What’s worse, some people may use your phone number to track your personal information. There are many cases that people got blackmailed after their personal information were exposed. It’s important that we protect our privacy. If you want to leave your phone number on Craigslist, you’d better use a disposable phone number rather than your personal one. There are apps allowing users to get phone numbers, such as Telos.Heres the what you can do with the app:√ Get a FREE U.S. Phone number in any area code√ Add multiple burner lines, no contract, no need to change SIM cards√ Enjoy unlimited calling and texting√ Worldwide Phone Numbers, receive international texts & calls at low cost√ Your friends don’t need to have the Telos app to receive your texts or calls√ A temporary number to protect your privacy-wthout giving out your real number√ Stay connected while your phone is out of service√ Choose vanity numbers which may not be available from AT&T or Verizon-You can even port Telos number out as your SIM number√ Save a lot on international calls and texts√ Enjoy free calls & texts via WiFi or cellular dataThe app is available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Bought stolen iPhone off Craigslist?

The police can't help you. You were scammed. This is why people should NEVER buy iphones or any phones or any apple product on CL because they are most likely stolen. The police will NOT help get your money back. By law you can get charged with a crime because it is a crime to buy and have stolen merchandise. I suggest you walk into an APPLE store and tell them you think you bought a stolen phone and want to know if they can help find the real owner. Then if the real owner is willing to sell you the phone you can buy it or return it to them. You will NEVER get your money back.
Never ever ever again buy any electronics off CL!

How do you post on Craigslist without giving them a phone number?

You use the phone number. It's linked to the craigslist account. It slows down spammers, since they must have a different phone number for each craigslist account. At the very least, they have to find and purchase pre-verified accounts...which will sometimes ask for verification a second time, at which point they are worthless again. ;-)

The number is not sold, shared, used, etc. It's simply recorded as being a real phone number, attached to the craigslist account. You get no spam or texts or anything similar at all.

If editing the ad does not remove the phone verification requirement, then simply verify. You should only do it a single time unless you post ads with content that is suspicious to the filters.
