Does Dunking A Basketball Impress Women

Why are there so few dunks in women’s basketball?

Some dunks do occur, and even that is a change over how it was less than a decade ago.Female basketball players have two disadvantages in this regard. One, the average college or WNBA player is shorter than her male counterpart (although far taller than the average female in society.) Thus fewer of them can get as high as the rim in order to dunk the ball. Two, the average vertical leap (how high you can get off the ground) is still less for female athletes than males. I suspect that latter statistic is changing, however, as nutrition. weightlifting, and “explosive” muscular training techniques play a larger role for female athletes than they used to.Thus, a shorter athlete who can’t jump as high would, obviously, have a tougher time dunking the ball. There’s probably something to be said for the ego of an alpha male trying to intimidate his opponent, too, but that’s hard to quantify.

Why is women's basketball so bad?

I watch college sports all the time, even women sports. I watch softball, and i see the talent is just amazing, the way they pitch the ball is close to the same amount of talent the men show in baseball. Even women's Volleyball is filled with good talent. Then there is Basketball, and the talent of the men is so vastly greater then that of the women, i just can't watch. The game is so slow, with hardly any scoring, missed lay ups in the WNBA is as common as bad mascots in the NFL, and can't we get one girl that can dunk? The ball control is sloppy as well, and aside from the best in the league, the talent (if you can call it that) looks much like a pee wee type game. My question is why are women better at softball and other sports, and so bad at basketball?

Can Obama dunk a basketball?

According to the latest interview when asked about what some of the GOP members were calling him he said that he's been called worse names on the basketball court. I wonder (1) if he can dunk and (2) what he has been called on the court.

How is coaching women's college basketball different from coaching men's?

At the D1 level there is not much difference except that the dunk and alley oop plays are less prevalent in the women’s game. There may also may be a little difference in team bonding activities.Otherwise, you have to teach fundamentals, defense, offense, rebounding.

Can playing basketball make or help you grow taller?

Does the NBA know some type of secret or something? Here are some examples. Feel free to do research on them so you know I am not lying. Most of these are late growth spurts and some not too late but just HUGE growth spurts. This is all pretty inspiring.

Dennis Rodman - He was 5'6 in high school. Then at the age of 19, he went from 5'9 to 6'8! Almost a foot! Growing pains....ouch.

David Robinson - 5'9 his junior year of high school and 6'7 his senior year and then 7'0 in College.

Scottie Pippen - Entered college at 6'1. Final height? 6'8.

Michael Jordan - He grew from 5'10 to 6'3 from his sophmore to junior year in highschool. Final Height is 6'6. I also heard no one in his family is over 6'0, but that was from only one source so not sure.

Chris Anstey - Played tennis until age 17. Then started playing basketball and grew 7 inches. Final height was 7'0. Hmmm did he grow taller because of basketball?

Tim Duncan - Grew 8 inches in some of his highschool years and now maxes out at 6'11.

Lamar Odom- Was 6'2 as a highschool point guard. Out of nowhere he hit a huge growth spurt to 6'9.

Manu Ginobli- Hes from Argentina, a country whose average height is 5'8 1/2. Both of his brothers were late bloomers, and reached 6 ft in their teens. Manu was also a late bloomer and in two years, he shot up 10 inches from 5'8 to 6'6.

There are a lot of other examples, but its not necessary to list 100 of them. Does this prove that basketball does make you taller, and not the argument that they play basketball because they are tall in the first place? Just look at the example of the former tennis player to basketball player. He grew 7 inches!

Have you ever worked hard to impress your crush? Like going to the gym or studying hard? If yes, What did you do? Did you get her lastly?

“Whoa, so…..how many views do you have on Quora again?” a beautiful woman asked me at a networking event.“2.5 million views…” I calmly said, sipping on my Stella Artois. Her pupils dilated as she smiled.“Wow, that’s really impressive,” she crooned as I smiled back, ready to get her number. But let’s take this a couple steps back. When I’m writing on Quora, it’s not by any means to get the attention of this particular woman or any women in general.I write because I like writing and it’s my passion. It’s what I like doing and no one is going to take that away from me.The same goes with working out. I like working out whether it’s running, doing MMA, calisthenics, swimming, or bouldering. Not because I want to impress a girl with a resume of skills I do or with my athletic physique, but because I want to be adaptable in a changing environment. One minute I can be running quite a distance from a mountain lion, the next minute I’ll be climbing a tree to put a mountain lion at a disadvantage, and the worst case scenario in the event the lion happens to knock the tree down, I’d choke the lion until it says, “MAAAATTTEEE!!!” or dies.Travis Kauffman choked a mountain lion to death when the lion surprised him on a morning run. Not only will this guy get free beers for life at every bar he goes to, but just look at how the female interviewer looks at him. Did he kill a lion to get her attention? No. But why he did it is what makes him attractive to every woman on the face of the earth.None of this is to get the attention of a woman. That’s desperate, needy, clingy, beta, whatever you like to call it.I do it because I want to take care of myself, because I’m passionate and have a task and purpose for my life, and this is what it takes to get to a goal I set for myself. If a girl happens to be really attracted to me as a result of what I do, fantastic!Welcome to my world! If a girl is unimpressed then that’s all good, because I will continue doing what I love doing and someone else will be attracted.Life isn’t about trying to impress others, you should be impressing yourself with what you can do if you set yourself a goal. That’s ultimately attractive to everyone.

What are the most impressive feats of basketball recorded on video?

Vince Carter……dunking over Frederic Weis in the Olympics. Dude was 7 ft and Vince Carter jumped over him in a game. Not in a slam dunk competition as a prop, but in an actual game with guys playing defense. Maybe Weis was planning to take a charge. Instead he got Vince’s jewels in his face.2. Dr. J dunking from the free throw line in 1976.It was amazing at the time but in hindsight, what makes it extra special is that he did so without the support of sneakers designed to help guys jump higher and further. Here’s a look at the Converse sneakers from 1976.Compare them to today’s sneakers of 2019Today’s sneakers give an obvious advantage and jumping ability, yet Dr. J was able to do something which is still extremely rare today, over 40 years ago.3. I wanted to find a video of Earl Manigault grabbing a quarter from the top of the backboard but sadly, none exists. The next best thing is Shaq breaking a backboard. There have been a lot of guys who are strong in the NBA but Shaq combined it with speed, which led to things like this against the Nets. What made it amazing is that he had already broken a few backboard glasses, so the NBA began to reinforce the entire system. So Shaq simply brought down the whole backboard, the arm and the frame. It became apparent that neither man nor machine would be enough to stop him.

What’s the most interesting wrong workout you’ve seen at the gym?

Oh I have seen so many. My favorites are those who put the level at 0 - no resistance whatsoever - on the stationary bikes, then get on their phones and go at a snail’s pace then brag afterward that they spent an hour cycling in the gym.But almost as good are those who do a tiny weight for twenty reps. Then they sit on the machine for five minutes and repeat this 7–8 times, effectively keeping the machine for 40 minutes.Or the guys who come in work out chest and biceps, or biceps and chest and have great looking chests and biceps, little or no back, no legs. They end up shaped like light bulbs - big arms, big chest, scrawny legs and back. But those that are doing right workouts? The swimmers who come in, and start cranking out laps with flip turns. They take a breath every two or three or four strokes. and sometimes do three miles in an hour. The Olympic lifters who can squat prodigious amounts of weight, often so much that the bar is bending down. The Olympic lifters who - at 250 plus pounds - can easily dunk a basketball. The tiny ballet dancers I’ve seen who do the entire stack of weights on a leg machine for 50 plus reps without batting an eye.Small guys and girls who can dead lift prodigious amounts of weight even though they don’t look all that big in street clothes….These folks just wow me. I usually don’t pay attention much to others when I’m at the gym. I’m concentrating on what I’m doing. But the folks who do it right? They impress the hell out of me.
