I am successful freelancer. Since college I had interest in photography. I think I could do better in photography. Should I leave my current job and pursue in photography?
Photography is a significantly more enjoyable endeavor when it’s predominantly for personal enjoyment, juxtaposed with being the primary source of one’s income.When photography is strictly a hobby or “side job,” the main reason you do it is for fun. Once it becomes your primary means of income, the main reason you do it is for money. The game changes completely. If photography is your sole profession, you no longer have creative license to do whatever moves you…instead, you are required/obligated to do whatever your clients demand.Furthermore, talent/ability does not determine your financial success as a photographer if you do it for a living. It really doesn’t matter how gifted you are. Your primary occupation will NOT be photography, it will be sales. You become a salesperson…trying to convince potential clients to hire you instead of the any number of other photographers hustling to land the gig. Most of them have the requisite talent to do the job with some modicum of competency. Even the ones who don’t are still your competition if they are gifted at selling themselves. Playing this game is extremely difficult…it’s incessant, and it’s exhausting.I would always recommend keeping photography a “semi-professional” occupation/hobby. If your gigs earn enough money to fully subsidize your camera/lens/photo equipment purchases and maintenance, you’re doing well.
Why is a college degree not needed anymore?
This answer coming from a masters student sounds like an irony but according to me it’s stupid to take loans for a degree, as most skills taught in school are irrelevant and may not promise you a job.All study materials from top universities are right there on internet for free of cost, there is also udemy, pluralsight, udacity where you pay a meager amount to learn some skills.If you ask me why did I do masters, my answer is it was a gateway to the United States. If you want to be a software engineer you could start building applications within 6 months by learning JavaScript and building a portfolio on github. Why wait 4 years with a 60,000$ Loan to call yourself a Developer?Great companies never take degrees seriously, you might want to be a great photographer, singer, writer. They are all arts and arts can be mastered via practice, entrepreneurship is also an art.There are few jobs like doctor, lawyer which require a certificate or degree to start working, unless you chose such a field never think a bachelors or masters degree would fix all your needs.Schools are a great place to network, why do you think people go crazy over top schools like Harvard or MIT? They have the best students and resources to create something big, so you might be lucky enough to become a part of something big. Nowadays you can meet like minded people on various platforms and networking alone cannot justify education loans, if you’re an introvert like me, just forget it.If you are really passionate about something follow your heart, when in doubt always look for a STEM degree or high paying jobs. Please do not waste money on lame degrees that don’t pay back, my 0.02 cents.
Using copyright photos for project?
You can't use images without persmission from the person who owns the copyright - in most cases that will be the photographer or artist. It's illegal. Crediting the website will not let you off the hook, profit or no-profit. Images that are copyright (and that is most of the images on the internet) cannot be used legally in any way whatsoever without permission. If you want images you can use legally for free, do a creative commons search here: http://search.creativecommons.org/ - you will still need to check the terms of the licence the images are released under, and you will still need to comply with any conditions, such as crediting the original creator of the images.
How do I spend holidays after passing 12th standard?
It’s a very important topic that many people doesn’t understand;I will highlight mentality of general mob ,Generally people think that after passing class 12 we have done a great job and we should rest ourselves , this thinking is right upto an extent but Taking this mentality in your mind and spending your holidays after class 12 in vain is your biggest mistake.This is the time when a child doesn’t have any pressure ( academic pressure), we can learn many things in these holidays.i won’t say you study everything and become a master but at least study something even it is not of that importance.THE BASIC MOTO SHOULD BE NOT WASTING THESE HOLIDAYS RATHER UTILIZING THIS FREE TIME IN A FRUITFUL MANNER WHICH COULD HELP YOU I N FUTURE.Suppose you are going to be an engineering student in computer science and engineering , then you can learn any programming language like java , c ,c++ , python , any one language which could help you in your college and make you apart from other students.One of my friend says:Learning anything is not a waste but it is an investment , now it’s your decision whether you want to go through life or grow through life.
What should I take with me to audition for acting, headshots and what else?
There’s not enough information here to give a good answer. What do you mean “audition for acting”?Are you auditioning for a school? Then you likely don’t need headshots, but you will need at least 2 prepared and memorized monologues - one classical and one contemporary, and one of those should be dramatic and the other comedic - and if auditioning for musical theatre, at least 2 contrasting songs. And a beginner resume.Are you auditioning for an agent? Headshots, beginner resume, and have 2 short contemporary monologues prepared to perform if asked, approx 1 minute long.Are you auditioning for a film or TV? Headshot, resume, and either sides that they’ve sent you to prepare or they’ll have sides there for you to prepare in the waiting room when you sign in.Theatre season? Headshot, resume, and whatever they’ve asked for - one or two short monologues, usually, or read from sides provided when you sign in. Musicals usually require 2 contrasting selections of 16 bars each and possibly a dance audition, so bring dance clothes and shoes to change into.These are basic guideline, but EVERY CALL IS DIFFERENT! The key is to do your research and find out what they want you to present! Wandering in blind shows that you don’t know what you’re doing and don’t care to find out, so why should they pay any attention to whatever else you may bring to the table. You can be talented and beautiful, but if you don’t bother to find out what is expected of you, then the assumption will be that you’re too much trouble to deal with in future.
How do you achieve your goals without doubting yourself?
It's not easy to achieve your goals, you always have to pay for them right? by working hard and putting more effort than anybody else can. It's either you're smart but you're being lazy or you just don't wanna do it anymore. Anybody in this world can say "oh yeah im gonna do this, buy this when im old or when im rich" but those people dont realize that you have to work for them. I think you need to step back for a moment and look at yourself right now because maybe you're not achieving academically like you should be. Just remember nothing easy and you basically just answered your question there, don't doubt yourself. I promise keep it positive!! My mom has 8 kids, and she got pregnant when she was 16 and still graduated as a top cardiologist/cardiosurgeon and went to school for 12 years... she always wanted to give up everyday. But before she gave up, she had to think about what hold her for so long, what didn't stop her. And it's her family. You have reasons to achieve your goals, and you can make them happen. You held on for so long, and now you're giving up? don't. Be positive, put actions into your words and things will fall in place for you I promise.
