Is hairspray damaging for hair?

Most common ingredients normally contain alcohol and polymers, although they are similar to those found in such things like paint and even glue, In hairspray though, they are actually chemically modified to be flexible and fast-drying. Other ingredients found in hairspray include conditioning and neutralizing agents. Generally speaking, most hairsprays will not cause damage. However, some kinds of hairspray can damage your hair. I would first read the ingredient list before choosing a hairspray.I have included some valuable pointers bellow –There are several different kinds of alcohol. Hairsprays that contain Ethanol can be very damaging to your hair as they will dry it out. This ingredient may also irritate your scalp. Other alcohols, like, stearyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol and cetyl alcohol are often found in the shampoos that we use. They will help to moisturize your hair.A build up of hairspray may become a problem to you, as repeated use of hairspray between washing your hair may cause certain brands to create layers of dandruff-like particles that flake off. Although this is not dandruff, these small white flakes can fall on your scalp or shoulders, giving you the appearance of having dandruff. If you find that the hairspray you use does this, wash your hair more often or change brands. Look for one with a conditioner in it.Hair spray works by creating polymers that will coat your hair. With an excessive use of hairspray, you may find your hair starts to look dull, not shiny. A hairspray that contains vitamin E or panthenol, silicone, sodium PCA, will help retain the moisture in your hair as well as shine. If you develop an allergy such as an itchy scalp when using a certain hairspray, stop using it immediately. Read the ingredients to see if you can work out which one is affecting you. Also, it’s very important to keep your hair healthy and the best way to do this is to regularly wash and condition (if needed).
