Does the Dalton School In NYC have a uniform/dress code?
There is no uniform. There is a dress code for the Middle School, but it isn't very strict, just no really short shorts or tank tops. In high school you can wear pretty much whatever you want.

How to get into midwood high school?
How do i get into midwood high school in brooklyn? I'm in the 8th grade and i go to Dyker Heights I.S.201. I don't live near midwood. In the 7th grade, my average was 91.75. Will I get into midwood? School just started and i didn't do anything. I did sign up for the SHSAT test and i was thinking that if I fail that test, i can still get into midwood. Will I get in and what should I do?
What's it like to attend Bronx high school of science?
OK, I WENT there, many moons ago, my daughter graduated 2 years ago, my son is a sophomore. The day to day stuff, I can only look at the outside, but I will tell you some things I see are STILL true1)The school is filled with a bunch of amazing kids. That is NOT to say there aren’t kids who are cut ups etc, but remember, on the average, they are pretty much all cream of the crop (along with Stuy). There are the kids who grind, the guys who slack, and the average kids. One thing I can say - if you were used to being top of your class with no work, you won’t be. You’ll be middle of the road, at best. You have to work to be at the top.2)There is still a friendly rivalry with Stuy, but over time, you’ll find you have more in common with them than differences (Back when I went, it was harder to get into Science than Stuy, swapped my Jr year)3)One of the biggest problems with going to Science, from at least MOST of the city is the commute. If you are like a LARGE percentage of the students, you are from Queens. You really have 2 choices - Mass Transit, which can take 2–2.5 hours - EACH WAY, or pay for a private bus (Vallo). Vallo is well worth it IMHO (as a parent who pays for it). This cuts the commute to roughly one hour.There is a joke among the students that sleep is optional at science
Bronx High School of Science: Is there a swimming pool on the 4th floor?
Swimming pool? I wish. There was one in the old building (we're getting into ancient history when I talk about "the old building" but not in the one the school has occupied since 1959. This is a sore point for me, because I might have made the swimming team, just barely, if we'd had our own pool. But borrowing Clinton's pool meant practice time and squad size was limited. Even after all these years, I felt a twinge of resentment when I learned that Stuyvesant's new building has a pool, and a very nice one.
Is Brooklyn Technical High School hard?
honestly… having attended Brooklyn Tech for four years and no other high school…. it's difficult to say how hard this special school is for students…. the first clue is that Kaplan maintains courses to help applicants be admitted to Brooklyn Tech, Stuyvesant, and Bronx School of science… the number of applicants is staggering. The quality of students is superb and consequently the standards very high.People ask where I went to undergraduate school…..University of Miami(Full Scholarship)…. grad school….GWLaw…. when they ask where did you go to high school and I reply Brooklyn Tech….. many times the remark is….. you must be really smart… yes….Brooklyn Tech carries that reputation!H David Meyers CEO Agrismart
What are the requirements into getting into Midwood High School?
I'm a 8th grade student in Brooklyn, New York. I just took the SHSAT in October 2008, and received the results today. Sadly, I did not get into any of the my preferred high schools. The Main Round results will be distributed in March 2009, in around a month and a half. Since my category is Top 2%, I can automatically get into a Ed-Opt school if I put it first. I put Midwood as my first choice, and Murrow as my second. Is there a definite chance that I will get into Midwood or Murrow? My guidance counselor who does all this isn't much help, so I was thinking of asking the Yahoo! community. Thanks for your answers and help!
