How do I return my HDFC credit card?

If, by return, you mean how to cancel your HDFC credit card, you need to call HDFC phone banking number (http://www.hdfcbank.com/personal...) and request them to cancel the card. They will try to convince you to use the card, however, if you don't budge, they will cancel it for you and you can just cut the card in a way that the magnetic strip cannot be used (to be on safer side) and throw it away or destroy it. No need to return it.

What is your review of HDFC BANK?

I have accounts with SBI, CITI and HDFC bank. SBI and CITI accounts are more than 10 years old and HDFC is few months old.I moved my salary account from CITI to hdfc as privileges are less in CITI account. My plan was to close the CITI account after everything settles with HDFC account.Only after moving to HDFC, I understood how good CITI account was. Never faced any issue and any request for Cheque book or duplicate Card are done in few days whereas its super slow in HDFC. HDFC is more interested in selling products like ULIP policies, loan, account opening etc. Now a days they are not interested in FD accounts. Name change took 15 days and debit card took 10 days in HDFC.After Monthly Average Balance crosses 1 Lakh, then HDFC will upgrade to Classic account which is chargeable Rs 500 per year but Rs 750 Platinum Debit card is free. I feel Customer Support response is good and relationship manager handles all queries. This RM will force you to open Accounts etc. which we need to handle properly then everything is fine.My credit card application took 1 month to process and then rejected. Citi bank was efficient in letting me know this before picking up my application. (I work remotely. Many banks wants place of Residence to be same as Place of Working. This applies even after accepting salary deposit for 10 years :)).HDFC can be taken only if you have Classic account with them. I have demat and trading account with them. So, amount will always be in my saving account for quick purchase of stocks. Other than that having 1L only to get Classic doesn’t make any sense.CITI offered to reduce min. balance from 2L to 1L. After seeing HDFC, I opted to keep that account open in case I need to move back my Salary deposit from HDFC to CITI.

What is the maximum limit for a credit card in a newly opened salary account in HDFC bank?

That depends on the salary you are earning, generally credit card company follows the rule of 1.5x, where “X” is your monthly salary in hand. So, if you are earning somewhere around 25000 per month than you might get a card with credit limit of 37500/- approx. (this is generic rule which varies according to your credit score and vintage in company, etc.)  If you are applying card for the first time and you have no credit history than, you will get the basic card of HDFC i.e. Titanium which upgrades periodically along with your usage.

Why does HDFC, HSBC, ICICI Bank, etc take 3 days to reflect the credit card payment made either by Click2Pay, Bill Desk (or similar web link) or through NEFT whereas Vodafone and Airtel are able to confirm the receipt of the payment made within 2 hours even when they are non banking companies?

I was hoping someone with a know-how of Banking transactions would provide an accurate answer. To me, it seems like earning money by either of the parties or Billdesk, since the service is provided free of cost. What I observed is as here: For e.g. my standard chartered bank gives me a pay-by-date as 3-Sep-2014. I transfer the money via Billdesk on the 31-Aug-2014. Money gets immediately deducted from my Savings Account. And I receive an SMS from Standard Chartered saying 'Payment Received' on the 4-Sep-2015. (i.e. 1 day late, so a late fee is levied). Now, the interesting part is that my Standard Chartered CC statement shows that Payment was made on 31-Aug-2014. When I called up, all they say is that even though the date is shown as when you made payment, we received it on the 4th.Someone somewhere in the middle is making money out of my payment. I am pretty sure. In an age where NEFT transactions between Banks (bank-1 -> RBI -> bank-2) happen within 2-3 hrs, these kind of payments taking more than 3 days is strange.

I have three bank accounts. I want to close my HDFC bank account, as my salary account has changed. Should I do that?

As you already have used the HDFC Bank's Net Banking and undoubtedly it is the best net banking interface among all the banks (based upon my experience of using more than 7 bank's net banking). Also you are enjoying the ease of payment and benefits of offers with HDFC Bank Credit Cards, naturally you will not like to close it.Coming to the benefits of keeping account with maintenance of the average balance of Rs. 10000/- is that the HDFC Bank offers the Pre-Approved Loan offers based upon the age and conduct of your account over a period of time and hence you can avail those pre-approved loan offers very easily and minimum or nill documentation and hence, it worth keeping HDFC Bank account as it offers you a host of facilities ease of banking, latest technical development, and most of the products and features are INSTANT like:Instant Debit Card (if you lost get the one from any branch instantly)Instant Loan (Through Net Banking)Instant Fund Transfer (IMPS Through Net Banking 24 X 7 through mobile app)Instant Loans on Credit Cards, etc. However, its your decision to keep or not, but my personal suggestion is you should keep the account and enjoy the host of world class banking facilities and features. The author is co-founder of Perfect Banker

How do I close an HDFC bank savings account?

As far as I remember from my last drill, - you need to walk into the base branch (where you opened the account)- fill out the Account closure form and answer all questions regarding why you are closing the account.- Provide your active bank account details (AC number, Branch, IFSC code/MICR code etc) - the remaining amount in your cancelling account will be transferred to this. You can also opt for a cheque/DD which will be sent over courier to your address.- You might need to carry a ID proof. Suggestion: (optional)- Withdraw the extra amount in account beforehand. Retain only the minimum balance required.- Take photocopies of Debit card and cheque book (any one cheque leaf) for records.- Once you get the confirmation of account being closed - destroy all - Debit card, cheque boook and Passbook.
