Does Injecting Meth Make A Guy Unfertile And Not Be Able To Make Babies

Infertility over meth?

My theory would be that it’s possible, but not likely based on my knowledge of human reproduction. Females are born with all of the eggs they’ll ever have while men make fresh sperm daily. A little girl could potentially suffer damage to her ovum, but your husband’s sperm weren’t in existence when he was exposed.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the sort of thing you’re likely to find reported on MSNBC.com in a nice little summary. The articles that will have the answers are snooze-worthy case studies. I tried Googling more specific phrases and got nothing I’d call relevant.

Many of the studies focus on affects immediately after birth. To answer this question, you’d probably need to track down a long-term study that followed these babies well into adulthood. Given the relatively short span of time since methamphetamine became mainstream, I’m not sure too many such studies exist.

One more problem is that there often aren’t tons of studies on drugs effects in pregnancy anyway for a number of reasons. First, it’s not ethical to do research where pregnant women are given drugs. Scientists can only study women and children who have been in the real world (not a controlled lab) so a number of factors beyond that single drug could have caused the issue. When that’s the case, you can’t definitively say that X caused Y.

If you want to do some research, here are a couple of Google searches:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=fetal+methamphetamine+exposure

My number one suggestion though would be that if it has been more than a year, you both should see your doctors about getting with a fertility specialist to be tested. If less than a year, be patient. It can take time even if you’re both healthy.

How have others handled infertility?

I'd like to start by saying I'm so sorry you're going through this. I am in my late 20's and married a man who could not have children. Infertility no matter how you come to have it, is devastating news. I always wanted to have children (through pregnancy) but I loved my guy (now my husband) too much to let that stand between us. There have been many tears, and the grieving goes up and down. Like you said being surrounded by your pregnant friends and their babies is heartbreaking, and jealousy is just unavoidable, even if you are happy for them......It wasn't until we started our first adoption process that my sadness took a turn for the better. I sat there feeling sad and depressed wondering why me, why can't we just have a child, one that looks like us and experience all the things we want too/.....and then I saw the photo-listings of all the children is foster care, desperate for parents to love them. Children who must have been thinking why me? why did my parents make the mistakes they did? why must my life be in upheaval? It was at that moment that I was grateful to be in my situation and not theirs. I still experience sadness at times, but it does get better. And it helps knowing that there is a child out there who would love to have me as their parent, that I would love to shower with love. Adoption isn't for everyone, and we still consider sperm donation from time to time, but every time I look into the face of my 3 year old son whom we adopted, my heart melts, and I would rather become a parent to a child already born... desperate for a family, than carry one of my own.

Best of luck in your journey to becoming a parent no matter what route you choose!

Does Crystal Meth cause irregular periods and infertility?

The affects of crystal meth can be devastating to both baby development and to later development.

Research conducted in 2005 by University of Toronto researchers notes that if a pregnant woman takes just one dose of meth, it can have dire consequences for her baby. So it's not just women addicted that are an issue, but experimenters of drug use as well. The study points out that long-term neurodevelopmental issues can develop in a baby due to that single hit. That is a scary statistic.

What are the effects of crystal meth during pregnancy on the baby exactly? Well, it not only causes the long-term neurodevelopmental problems, but also reduced motor coordination in the long-term. Research says that a developing baby is much more vulnerable to DNA damage because fetuses have not yet developed the enzymes that will eventually help to protect the baby from free radicals.

Free radicals are destructive molecules that have been shown to cause cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. Everyone comes into contact with free radicals as children and adults, but by then we've developed some protection against them. Meth exposes a fetus to these very harmful molecules, but the baby has no protective devices and thus can be terribly harmed by them. Furthermore, fetuses are vulnerable from conception to the last trimester.

This study and numerous others points out that crystal meth use during pregnancy needs to be researched much more to determine the precise effect it will have on a fetus, but also that most research to date shows that meth can cause problems for a baby including:

* Low birth weight.
* Cleft palates.
* Premature birth.
* Mental and physical disabilities.
* Increased chances of miscarriage.
* Later issues can occur for male babies. A recent study reports that males fetuses exposed to crystal meth who later take meth themselves develop brain disorders much quicker than if their mother had never taken the drug.

The best thing for a pregnant woman is to quit using crystal meth (or never start). If someone has a problem and needs help quitting, their doctor, clinic, or even a hospital is a good place to start. Health care providers love to see healthy mothers and babies, so resources for help abound at these places. Another good resource is Crystal Meth Anonymous.

No people should do neither. Human beings are destroying the very thing that gives us life. We are like a cancer on the planet. Until we figure out how to help heal the earth we as a species should not be allowed to grow or spread any further than we have already. We should look for ways to decrease the population either through sterilization or perhaps, I hate to say, another world war. If drastic steps aren't taken soon to repair the damage we have done to the planet, we won't have anything to worry about because most of us will not be around to see what a dying planet that cannot support human life looks like. If solar radiation or a few degree increase in the surface temperature doesn't do it then the lack of fresh water and the food and water riots or all out wars over food and fresh water should kill a large portion of the population. So, the decision to start cloning people will not be necessary. Also let us not forget a very important issue that is if or when our ELECTED officials in DC will ever stop listening to and agreeing with the ultra conservative religious right and start allowing stem cell research using ALL AVAILABLE STEM CELLS not just the small percentage currently legal to use. When that fantasy of mine becomes a reality then I will give this cloning question another look but until then it is all just talk without purpose.Thank you for reading my long winded rant even though most if not all is true, I do appreciate you spending a few minutes of your time to read it.Sincerely,Will Patterson

Please do not judge, snorted a line of meth while 23 weeks pregnant.?

Please do not judge me, I have a problem, a serious addiction. I realize I need help and I feel extremely horrible. As I write this I am currently high off of a SINGLE line of meth. When I first became pregnant I was addicted to meth and when I found out I was pregnant at 4 weeks I stop using completely...prior to stopping I was so heavily addicted I was injecting meth. I have been completely and totally clean up until this point, partly b/c my conscious wouldn't "let" me use. I am freaking out, I am so scared and I want to know if this will effect my pregnancy or my baby and if so how. Please do not be harsh, I understand I was wrong and it was a mistake. I am 19 years old and I'm trying my hardest to do what is right which is why I am posting this. I would also like to mention, just to provide a little background info, I have had 2 previous miscarriages; one of them was when I was 15 and I miscarried at approximately 2-3 months pregnant, and my most recent miscarriage was January 18th, 2010 (this year) and I was also 2-3 months along and had to have a D&C. My current pregnancy was shortly after my D&C earlier this year, and like I said I am now 23 weeks pregnant w/ a precious little boy. Please please please get back to me and let me know if my son will be okay, this was a huge mistake...I'm desperate, please help.

CAUSES OF IMPOTENCYMen experience a reduction in testosterone and other hormones as they age resulting in lower libido, less stamina, decreased energy, and increased body fat as they age, which not only affects intimacy, but confidence as well. And no matter what age, having a flag at half-mast can affect confidence and happiness in any man.Some other causes of impotency are: Taking drugs like nicotine and anti-depressants, alcoholism, obesity, ageing, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, tobacco, low testosterone.Male Fertility Boosters: There are several steps a man can take to improve his sperm count:·Sperm are sensitive to heat and do not survive overheating. Wear loose boxer shorts instead of tightly pants to keep the testes cool, and take showers instead of soaking in hot baths.·Herbs like Korean Ginseng for sperm production and reduce the intensity of the body’s response to stress and gives energy. Manganese for production of cellular energy, Magnesium aids natural cleansing and calm the nerve. Beet rich source of antioxidants and immune system booster, helps to detoxify tissue, which relieves cleansing burdens from the kidneys and liver. Borage seed oil for pain, stress or inflammation, Burdock root a rich source of zinc, amino acid, Vit B1, B6, B12 and Vit E helps detoxify tissue which relieves cleansing burdens from the kidneys and tissue to give energy. Kale (vegetable) best source of Beta Carotene and powerful antioxidants to build immune system. Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) to help address the issue of diabetes, memory loss, chronic fatigue syndrome, infections, cancer, disease of the heart and blood vessels. Coral Calcium for immune booster, L-Alanine (amino acid) supports prostate health as it helps the body build protein, L-Arginine (amino acid) essential for male fertility and sperm production, L-Lysine (amino acid) for Tissue repair and production of antibodies and hormones, Selenium for immune booster and sperm production. A mans fertility generally relies on the quantity and quality of his sperm. If the number of sperm a man ejaculates is low or if the sperm are of a poor quality, it will be difficult, and sometimes impossible, for him to cause a pregnancy.Referenced: Getting Pregnant Naturally While “Infertile” – Talz Mag – MediumIt is estimated that one in 20 men has some kind of fertility problem with low numbers of sperm in his ejaculate. However, only about one in every 100 men has no sperm in his ejaculate.In most cases, there are no obvious signs of infertility. Intercourse, erections and ejaculation will usually happen without difficulty. The quantity and appearance of the ejaculated semen generally appears normal to the naked eye.About two-thirds of infertile men have a problem with making sperm in the testes. Either low numbers of sperm are made and/or the sperm that are made do not work properly.The male reproductive system is made up of the testes, a system of ducts (tubes) and other glands that open into the ducts. The brain plays an important part in the control of the male reproductive system.The pituitary gland and the hypothalamus, located at the base of the brain, control the production of male hormones and sperm. Luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) are the two important messenger hormones made by the pituitary gland that act on the testes.When released from the testes, the sperm spend two to 10 days passing through the epididymis where they gain the vital ability to swim strongly (become motile), and to attach to and penetrate (get into) the egg.At orgasm, waves of muscle contractions transport the sperm, with a small amount of fluid, from the testes through to the vas deferens. The seminal vesicles and prostate contribute extra fluid to protect the sperm. This mixture of sperm and fluid (the semen) travels along the urethra to the tip of the penis where it is ejaculated (released).Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is a form of IVF where a single sperm is placed directly into each egg by piercing the outer covering of the egg. ICSI is particularly helpful for men with poor sperm production. Sperm are collected from the semen or removed carefully from the testis or epididymis.

While I do not have the exact statistics to show you how much water would kill a man, it’s safe to assume that nothing much will happen to you unless you inject above the safe threshold.I’ll assume you have injected Deionized waterDeionized water (or “pure” water) contains no minerals, electrolytes, or ions. It is mainly used in micro-electronics to remove dust particles or any subtle blockages that could harm the electronics. Any ingestion or injection of DI water would be detrimental to your body (if done in high amounts). Deionized water is slightly polarized due to its natural molecular structure. So it will grab hold of floating ions, minerals, vitamins, or other electrolytes essential for nerve communication.Most likely, the cells surrounding the area of injection will explode due to the difference in osmotic pressure. As the water travels around the body, it will continually decrease your body’s salinity, making you extremely dehydrated (ironic isn’t it).Now again, you won’t experience much of the ill-effects if injected in small amounts. In fact, it’s very similar to drinking water except that the water will be concentrated in one area of your bloodstream. Otherwise, you can face some serious consequences (e.g. electrolyte imbalance, water intoxication), but it can be quickly avoided by taking in vitamin supplements and other forms of obtaining electrolytes (Edit: I don’t think drinking Gatorade would help in this condition).
