Does It Look Like Ive Gained Muscle Or Fat

Why do I feel like I’ve gained fat when I lost weight?

If you lost weight you probably lost a mixture of muscle and fat, but mostly fat because the body far prefers to burn fat over muscle. Another person said that your body burns muscle before fat but this is incorrect. Why would your body prioritise using up muscle (which isn’t primarily an form of energy storage and is useful for many things) over bodyfat fat when the MAIN purpose of extra bodyfat is to be used body is in an energy deficit?Anyway, my guess for why you feel you gained fat is that you’re looking more critically at your body now so you’re more away of the fat that was already there previously

Why am I gaining muscle and fat at the same time?

Why trying to build muscle, you consume a calorie surplus and hence you gain muscle & some fat as well.I am also in a similar boat now. I am focusing on building as much muscle as a I can before cutting my body fat. Right now im at around 187 pounds in bulking phase. Started at extremely skinny fat (176 pounds). At my current weight i’ve lost some fat overall (gained some as my bulk continued) & gained a significant amount of muscle. At my height 6′2 my genetic potential permits a maximum lean muscle mass of about 82 pounds (fat-free mass). So lets say I bulk till I have about 90% of this value? (sounds reasonable considering my experience ~1 year + my genetics etc) which is about 175 pounds. I would currently be at 20% body fat, which would put me at 150 pounds lean body mass. I need to push this to 175 pounds by the end of my bulk. Assume my BF% remains almost the same, I need to bulk to about 217 pounds(98 kgs before cutting).Right now im focusing on increasing protein & decreasing carbs but keeping preworkout carbs and postworkout carbs same. Waiting for another month then will reduce carbs and eat more protein (probably take some mild supplement).

My scale says im gaining weight when i look thinner?

Likely, yes. If your clothes are fitting better, you're gaining muscle mass but decreasing your fat (muscle is more dense and weighs more than fat).

However, for a better regimen, you should eat at least 1,200 calories a day. If you eat too little, your body will go into "starvation mode" and hold on to every calorie you eat. You'll need to see what works best for you, but a range of 1,200 to 1,500 calories a day are considered healthful if you're trying to lose weight. It's recommended to eat whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats (or other sources of protein, like beans), low fat dairy and monounsaturated fats (such as olive oil or avocado). Keep up with the healthy lifestyle and your body will thank you for years to come!

Does Serious mass make you fat?

Gaining weight but look the same?

Okay, so im trying to lose weight but im gaining weight, but thats not my question
im 5'1" 18 yrs old and in the past year i went from around 125 to 145 pounds! 20 pounds sounds like a TON but it doesnt look like ive gained ANY weight! I looked average before, not fat but not skinny, but a little curvy, and i feel like i look the exact same, but i gained 20 pounds?? whats uppp with that

How do you gain more muscle when you have a hard gaining weight?

Im a skinny guy that can only gain weight by gaining muscle by going to the gym. Ive tried eating more but my metabolism just burns it off. I eat healthy (Boneless chicken breasts, vegetables etc) and have started going to the gym regularly again. Im slowly gaining muscle, but its so hard to actually add on muscle and weight, any thoughts?

Scale says im losing weight but it looks like im gaining it. WHY?

Actually, yes, it's true that muscle weighs more than fat. But once I read your entire question, I don't think that's the issue. Losing weight and gaining muscle does NOT create a double chin. It "could" make your pants fit differently if you were building up a lot of muscles in your glutes and thighs. But, being a nurse, I'm concerned about the double chin and rounded face. Are you also feeling fatigued? I don't know your age, but I strongly recommend seeing a doctor and having your thyroid tested. There are a few things that could be going wrong within your endocrine system that cause such effects. But not to worry! Some simple medications can treat most of these. Either way, you certainly should continue to exercise. Get at least 30 minutes a day. It will help you regardless of anything else. Good Luck :)

How did I gain weight and still wear the same size clothes?

A year ago I lost nearly 25 lbs. I have since gained about 10 of that back. I currently weigh about 120 and am 5 feet tall. I would consider myself athletic as I run and play sports throughout the year. How is it that ive gained weight but still wear the same size clothes? I know that muscle weighs more than fat but how do I know if ive gained fat or muscle?
