Does Lumosity Work For People Who Have A Hard Time Remembering Things

I'm having a hard time focusing/memorizing/learning things. What can I do?

The reason why you are not able to concentrate is because your mind is not working efficiently at the moment, which is completely normal. Try meditative exercises in order get yourself back on track. If you have a smartphone you can download apps like Luminosity and Neuronation for mental games from the play store. All these things will take time, and your brain will not start working efficiently overnight. It's just like going to the gym. The first day is always the hardest and with the passage of time things start getting easy. The same goes for your concentration power. After vacations, the first day will be the hardest for you to concentrate but if you keep on repeating it again and again you will succeed. Good Luck!

Does Lumosity work?

Brain training games like Lumosity rely on the concept of transfer - that training one skill will improve a related skill. These programs claim to have a vast supply of scientific studiesto back them up.The truth is that those scientific studies are far from conclusive. Nearly every study on the effects of brain training programs found little to no evidence of improvement of general intelligence. That said, practicing any task will result in improvement. Digit span is a common task in these programs, and tries to increasethe number of digits you can remember at one time. For most people, with no training, this will be about 7. But with years of practice, people are able to retain digit strings of over 80 items. The issue here is transfer: if you now take a person with an incredible ability to remember digits and ask them to remember letters instead, their performance will drop back down to untrained levels, about 7 items.Essentially, the takeaway here is that there is no evidence that brain training makes you more intelligent in general, but it may improve your performance on the specific tasks that you practice. If you spend a lot of time working on improving your digit span, you might have an easier time remembering phone numbers, but you shouldn't expect to see a similar improvement in your ability to remember your grocery list.

Does Luminosity.com work when you're high on marijuana?

Anything that works when you're not high will work when you are. The problem is with the operator, not the mechanism. Try it again when you're straight...

Brain games don't work. What to do in order to improve mental abilities?

turns out brain training games like lumosity, have been disproven. They have no effect, other than improving a persons skills at those particular games.

What kind of training, with or without a computer, can I do to A) Improve memory. b) remember things long forgotten, like the majority of my childhood that I do not remember., C) memorize imformationg more effectively and d) prevent myself from becoming distracted improve focus.

Any other brain training will be appreciated as well.

Does Lumosity actually help improve brain performance or should I stop wasting my time and look for something else to do for my brain?

This question is explored thoroughly in an article by Walter R. Boot, Ph.D. and Arthur F. Kramer, Ph.D. entitled, “The Brain-Games Conundrum: Does Cognitive Training Really Sharpen the Mind?”The article was published on the Blog “Cerebrum” (on the Dana Foundation website) in November 2014. I answered a question on Quora previously about Lumosity and brain training, based on the research community that works on their app product, which you can see in my Quora answers. All I would add is that practically speaking, your question about wasting time is really the crux of the issue. Could brain training help? Maybe, though the scientists disagree and so their jury is out. If you take a more pragmatic view, the real question is, “What do I want to get better at?” Your brain is a magnificent tool, that will optimise and train itself based on the use that you put it to. But the key is application: as Malcolm Gladwell explores in his book Outliers, achievement (based on mastery) comes from practice. It’s that simple.Put another way, if a future Elon Musk is sitting in his or her bedroom playing Lumosity rather than researching the problems s/he’s fascinated by, what s/he’ll get good at is Lumosity not deepening and widening his/her powers of perception and insight. Just sayin’ ;-)

From Lumosity, is my BPI score good?

First thing, Happy new year :)

I've been training with Lumocity for about a month, but then I stopped, but i started again just there :)

I remember I had a BPI of ~700 first time I played, but slowly I progressed, now after my long break which I regret!

BPI 1037
Speed 1241
Memory 1153
Attention 946
Flex 1210
Prob Solving 635

My Score beginning was quite bad, but I have improved. I really regret stopping, i wonder what score i would be at now if I haven't stopped.

My new year resolution is to keep to Lumosity :) 2013!
