Does Past Infections Of The Knee Cause Damage To The Knee

I have knee pain.?

I have always had problems with my knees. I have been to the doctors about it and they say that my knees are often slightly swollen. It causes pain when i run, and i am said to look like an old lady walking up stairs (i am only 22). My knees normally hurt on the muscle or tendon that runs right below your knee cap. That general area. Right now though it hurts to bend it and try to bend and lift it to walk up stairs or even lift my leg to put my pants on. It is on the inner side of my knee right near that bone. Anyone have any suggestions for me? I have been told there is nothing wrong but for pain this long i tend to believe there is.

I woke up with knee joint pain Tues. I didn't do anything to cause injury. It hurts to stand or sit.?

see doctor right away

I got a tack stuck in my knee today, could it cause serious problems?

The toilet seat looks pretty clean too, but I wouldn't necessarily want that jammed into a wound.... *little grin*
Looks can be deceiving, especially when we're talking about microscopic organisms.

First things first. If you're not up to date with your tetanus shots, make an appointment with a healthcare provider asap.

Secondly, puncture wounds are notorious for getting infected, because they cannot be adequately cleaned. The best thing to do with a puncture, is to make the wound bleed, washing out the germs and bacteria and etc. Since it sounds like its a little late for that, keep the area clean, and watch for signs of infection such as swelling, discharge, redness, increase in soreness.

Chances are, it won't cause any serious problems. You're probably a healthy person with a healthy immune system. You can put ice on the injury to help keep the pain and swelling down and/or take some ibuprofin.

Good luck, and don't hesitate to contact your healthcare practicioner if you have any concerns.

My knee is swollen, tight and painful... why?

Could be so many things. Without a recent injury to have it suddenly swell is strange. Could be a cyst behind the knee thats growing and causing the area to swell, get tight and really hurt. The more it swells, the more pain you'll. If it is real swollen they may tap the knee. Sounds scarey, but when they did mine, the pain was minimal to the pain that was present and it felt 150 times better after it was done.
Could be an injury that you aggravated with a simple twist and brought out the edema and pain.
MRI's will show tissue injury, but a good doctor is your best bet. He'll probably order one too. Seems they all do now days.
As for the blood clot; yes if the leg is red, hot, swollen, then think clot and go now to an ER. Otherwise wait.
Post your finding as a comment so we know what you find out.
