What is it like to be a personal trainer at Planet Fitness?

You are more a fitness trainer. The term personal trainer refers more to one on one training. Unless it has changed recently fitness trainers at Planet Fitness are doing more group training. Some nice things about training at most planet fitness centers is there is a set schedule, off on weekends, and no working split shifts. You are not required to sell packages of training, because your services are an amenity of their membership.

Does Planet Fitness have trainers available for members?

They do. They’re not all going to be the same, but my experience with a trainer at my planet fitness was not incredibly helpful. She only had interest in showing me the equipment (I didn’t need that) and proposing a workout plan that, in my opinion was less difficult than I am capable of. Then classes were recommended. I have a feeling (hope) that this is where one would get the most out of that trainer. I admittedly haven’t tried them yet but plan to soon. I like the routine I have set for myself and am seeing results from it for the time being. So, yes, they have trainers.. but you get what you pay for.. at least in my case so far.

Can you bring a personal trainer to Planet Fitness?

Technically, it’s against Planet Fitness’s policy to bring in unauthorized personal trainers and can lead to account termination. From their Rules and Regulations (2014):Personal Training:89. If you’re interested in getting a Personal Trainer, you will find all the details of our authorised trainers on the Personal Training Boards. You can contact them directly, or ask at Reception & we will gladly hook you up with someone.90. Only authorised Planet Fitness Personal Trainers are permitted to provide personal training in our Clubs. Personal Training by another member is not allowed whether it’s for payment or not. If we find someone providing unauthorised Personal Training, our Club Manager will investigate & you & the trainer may be expelled or suspended.I can’t find any information on becoming an authorized personal trainer, but it’s clear that they employ them. I’d imagine it would involve paying a particular fee or giving a pre arranged cut.

Can you get trainers at planet fitness?

Not “personal” trainers, per se for private one on one sessions.Instead, each gym has a trainer whom they call a “Fitness Trainer.’’ Making sure not to tell the members we're “Personal Trainers.’’However! Here's the thing…If you sign up for a class, which is always free, and can hold no more than five clients, and are the only person in the class…you are in effect getting a free one on one training session!Further, I make it a policy to do whatever type of class the client wants in a one on one. SO, say you signed up for a Core class, maybe not because you were dead set on doing Core, but maybe because the time slot was convenient for you, I'll ask what you want to do. If Core…fine. If instead you want to work another muscle group, we'll do that! Thanks!

Is what my trainer at planet fitness told me true?

She said that I had to 6 meals a day. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner with snacks with tons of protein after each main course. Then when I go to the gym I should warm up for 10 mins. on any cardio machine. Afterwards she said I should work to 2 muscle groups on some of the machines and or dumbells they provide at the gym. Once I do 3 sets of 12 reps during 4 exercises for each of the two muscle groups, she said I should end with 30 min. of cardio. I pondered whether or not she was giving me accurate information. Am I going to see results following what she said, or is she telling me lies. I don't want to end up sticking to this for 3 months and not see any results. If it isn't true, please give your suggestions on how her advice could be improved. Most people seem to know what they're doing in the gym, but I'm pretty clueless when it comes to fitness and getting ripped. Its also might be because I'm 16, so if there are any fitness models, trainers, or whoever that want to give me advice just leave your opinions on what she said below. I'm counting on you. The reviews on Planet Fitness are terrible :)

Why does "Planet Fitness" hire trainers who are obese?

Planet Fitness works by offering very cheap memberships, so that even the laziest person is willing to give it a shot. Then when that individual inevitably quits, PF continues to collect their $10 a month. This is low enough that most people won't bother cancelling the membership, figuring they'll use it again in some vague future. Here's the thing though, PF has significantly more members than it has space in their gym. They therefore have to actively dissuade members from actually using their membership. There's a lot of subtle design components in their gyms meant to keep people from coming, all masked as making it a "judgment free zone".More here (T-Nation): The Planet Fitness NightmareThat said, I actually go to PF once a week. I have a home gym, with an olympic weight set, a couple benches, and free weights. I go to PF for the cable machine and the smith rack. But that said, PF sucks for serious lifters. There's no squat rack (that's not on rails), you can't do deadlifts (except with light free weights), and so on.Anyway, to answer your question: Since you left, they accomplished their goal of making you leave (although if you left before you got a membership, then they did a little too good of a job).
