How can I use external speaker for my PS4 slim if my monitor doesn’t have one?

There is good news, and bad news.The PS4 slim can only output sound from the HDMI out. It has no optical port.So… to get sound from your PS4, you will need some sort of adapter BEFORE the TV, OR to pump audio out from your Monitor. Being a monitor… I doubt it has ANY audio out. Even the Red/white jacks.In the meantime… do you have a second controller?Hold the PS button, set it to NEVER turn off. Plug in your external speaker to the 3.5mm jack, and plug the controller into any USB port to keep it charged.The downside of this is that the wireless audio quality is much worse (but not bad!) than a wired solution. And you tie up a controller.But in the meantime… until someone else answers with some sort of HDMI audio separator gizmo… it’s your best bet. Hey… at least ya can plug in a bunch of them for surround!

Are the Geek Squad services from Best Buy worth it?

Value is what you get for what you pay.” - WB​​​The problem with services, and even more so with consumer electronic related services, is that you can almost always Google the answer. And even worse, if you can’t, you probably know someone that, with a little Google help, could figure out the solution for you.So, it goes without saying, that techie folks that either like fixing their own problems, or don’t value their time, will complain about the high cost and low value. Additionally, whenever you have a national operation, like McDonalds, you’ll have some percentage of very vocal and very unhappy customers (hopefully, that percentage will be small). But, what about everyone else?Best Buy, like most businesses, has a target market. What if their target market for Geek Squad consists of people that have lots of money, but aren’t technologically sophisticated (people that use technology, but don’t know how to fix it)? Surely, a guarantee of the US’ largest consumer electronic retailer to do any number of things has value; not to mention Geek Squad’s services can be very impressive (I highly recommend their TV wall mounting service). When you buy a TV, do you really want to depend on your friend / family to make their way over to the house to install it? Or, every time you have a question about your computer, do you want to be beholden to the same friend or family member, who you’ve noticed is picking up your calls less and less? In my case, I purchase Geek Squad Services for my Mom and Grandma, but that’s another story.Ultimately, Geek Squad Services are worth it to some people, but not others. If you have the extra money, don’t want to be beholden to friends and family or want to make sure the job is done right, I highly encourage you to try Geek Squad at least once.
