Does Talking About Your Work Keep You From Finishing It

Quit my job and finish school or keep working?

I am a 27 year old male. I have been working full time for a nonprofit making $33k a year. I am also half way to a bachelors degree in finance at a local university. During the past couple of years I have been going part time to school which has worked out ok. I am getting to the point now where I really want to finish my degree and go to school full time and get it over with!so I am considering quitting my job at the end of this year so I can give my all to finishing school. Financially, I have $30k in savings, my rent and billls are very low. . I also make a few hundred bucks a month selling on ebay on the side which pays my bills and allows me to not use any of my savings, I also don't pay rent cause I do snow removal and grass cutting for my building. My job would not allow me to go to part time. I am a very smart person but in the past have made some bad choices when it comes to school work etc. I am going for a degree in finance & accounting. What should I do?

Why do i never finish anything i start??

You said it yourself. You feel like you have to force yourself. That's life. Almost everything loses it's luster, then your left with you and it. It's not about how you feel, or what you "want to do". It's about finishing what you start, being reliable.
Yes, you will have many times in life where you either force yourself or you quit. You already know what quitting feels like. Try forcing yourself and seeing it al the way through. Either way, you will have a resuilt that either you like or not.
Forcing yourself to do somethin gis part of being mature. Everyone does things almost everyday that they absolutely do not want to do. However, there are joys inside those things that make it worth it, and you learn to be happy no matter what you do.
Finishing is key to success. How hard will you push yourself to achieve?

What finishing product will keep my straight hair style, stay straight ALL night?!?!?

PERFECTLY is obviously your key word here. The answer is none will work as well as you'd like. Not even salon products.

Moisture affects how your hair stands up. I had a GF who would straighten her hair and in Las Vegas weather she was fine, but on the Cali coast, for get it! She'd had this flip going by the end of the night.

Anyway, you can't keep 100% moisture content out of your hair for extended periods. It is why ceramic irons work. They dry your hair.
You would have to have a styling product resist moisture on every strand of hair to get it to work perfectly, and that just won't happen.
Good luck.

I’m worried if I can finish my PhD. I’m in my 4th year and don’t have substantial work. With less than a year left, I'm still nowhere near completion. I need to have at least 3 papers submitted. What do I do?

If you are truly four years in, less than a year from a hard cutoff, have no publications, and don't have a clear thesis idea, then you may well be in a situation where you can't finish.  Things should never have reached this point, but you say they have.  From here, it's impossible to guess how much of that is the advisor's fault, how much is you, how much is the system, and how much is bad luck.  But blame doesn't matter now -- the question is where to go from here.I would suggest having a long talk with your advisor (and, as Barry Rountree suggested, your department head of some other senior faculty if your advisor is not very helpful) to see if things really are as bleak as you say.  Maybe there's some flexibility in the system and you can get more time.  Maybe you've accomplished more than you say, and just need to pull things together fast.  Maybe you could take a job at or near the university to stop the clock, and work hard to get things together.Normally a decent thesis takes a couple of years, minimum, and that's after you and your advisor have agreed on a topic and you've laid a solid foundation of knowledge in the area.  I've seen really brilliant and motivated students go from zero to thesis defense in 18 months or so, and faster than that in more theoretical areas.  But that doesn't seem to fit your self-description, so you will need some time.Your area is actually a very fertile and active one right now, so there's lots of competition and the danger of getting "scooped" if you move slowly on an idea others are working on.  But there are lots of good research threads to follow, and some would probably count as "low hanging fruit" -- something where you could produce an adequate, if not excellent, dissertation in a couple of years, with a couple of papers dropping out along the way.If there's no flexibility in the system, then it's probably time to drop out, find a good job in this area, and start building up your professional reputation.  In the long run, that can be as good as a degree, or better.

How can I finish homework faster?

To complete an assignment neatly you need to first be mentally prepared and have the desired patience to write neatly. The first and the main thing is Hand-writing.If you cannot write neatly then you should improve your handwriting first. To do that you should first choose an ideal handwriting for writing, the one which is the ideal handwriting for you. Then, start copying it and practice more and more in-order to do that. This really helps as it is based on the concept of “Fake it! until you make it”.Then focus on presentation, if a restaurant serves you well presented food, then you automatically get the inner feeling of it being tasty. Half battle won. Same goes in the mind of an Assignment, when you present your assignment in a beautiful manner, then you create an impression in the mind of your teacher. I need something to prevent finished sketches (pencil) from smudging?

I take it that you keep you sketch book in you backpack?

Well, lets see the simplest solution would be to get yourself a clip-board. and a couple thick & kinda big rubber bands.
Even the "Clip" on the clipboard would do in some situations.

The problem is your sketchbook/sketchpad is moving and sliding around too much. So what ever you're working on only gets ruined.

Another thing to try is getting a couple of Bull-Clips, they're those black triangular paper clips, you'll know when you see them in the paper clip section of the stationary store, Its better to get them by the box (small box), but usually one or two (sized to the same thickness of your sketchbook/pad) is enough to keep it stable & the cheapest method too.

Another thing to consider, once you think you've finished working on a particular sketch, take it out of your sketch pad or sketch book, and keep it in a seaperate folder or one of those polymer envelopes to keep it from sliding around or mishandled.

If you're not ready to remove your sketch from the pad, the best thing to do is use another page as a cover sheet, secure it with a staple or piece of scotch tape at a corner or two. This will keep it reasonably safe until you're ready to put it in a safe place.

That idea of hair spary is a novel idea, but using professional grade "gloss finish" is preferable. The only draw back is the fumes which are toxic and flamable. Also it takes a while for it to dry. If you put too much and accidentally close your sketch book too soon, well you know you may as well use glue to cover it and then throw away your materpiece - in the garbage.
Also Finishing spray isn't cheap, even if you're cheap and try to use hair spary, I recommend using an unscented Ultra Hold, because its the Scenting that makes the paper go yellow or brown. Ultra hold tends to dry faster too.

Good luck I hope I was able to help.
