(Note I believe there would be over 1000 camps in Thailand. )Tourism camp - These camps are catering from the holidaying / training person who wants to be near a beach or plan to holiday in some way. They can be found in places such as Koh Samui and Phuket. In no way am I saying the quality of the training is bad its just the business model to attract the punterBangkok - Muay Thai is a betting sport, I hate to say it but not say it affect this world, you would be kidding yourself. And so all SERIOUS bets happen in Bangkok. Looking for a good Muay Thai or MMA gym around Cleveland Ohio?

If you're looking for a Muay Thai Gym around Cleveland, check out MKG Cleveland in South Euclid. However, if you're serious about getting the best Muay Thai experience and want authentic training, look into going to Thailand to do a proper Muay Thai Camp.

I recently did a 3 month fight camp in MMA and Muay Thai at an authentic gym in Thailand and it costed me less than just my rent back at home. Read the book "12 Weeks in Thailand: The Good Life on the Cheap" to get an idea of how cheap it is to live, eat, sleep and train in Thailand.

If I start going to a Muay Thai gym, is it necessary to go to a regular fitness gym or will I do all the necessary things there?

My answer is based on the teams I’ve trained with and what you will most probably find when training with Thai fighters or other professional fighters who have trained in Thailand.Muay Thai training are very heavy on physical conditioning so you shouldn’t worry about going to a regular gym. Muay Thai physical conditioning will not be just lifting weights and other common exercises, you will have very intense drills like kicking, punching or kneeing a bag 500 times or more (this heavily depends on your fitness level and your goal - that is, if you want to only learn and train or if you also want to compete) before and after each training, per example. Other thing important to mention is that running and jumping rope will be part of your day-to-day.However, depending on how much free time do you have when there’s no training going on, doing some Crossfit/HHIT training may be helpful to improve your cardio and explosiveness strength. If you have an option between a Muay Thai training or going to Crossfit/HIIT training my advice is to always go to the Muay Thai training which will improve your fitness level while learning on the best martial arts.Hope this is helpful and enjoy Muay Thai!

Should I train at an MMA gym, or go to specific gyms like Muay Thai and BJJ only?

If your goal is to fight under MMA rules, you should join an MMA gym if you have access to a good one.Though it depends on what's available to you — if you have access to a fantastic MT gym or BJJ academy that win fights/competitions regularly, perhaps consider joining one of them for a year or so and building a base before cross-training.

Will I learn good boxing if I get into a Muay Thai/kickboxing gym?

Muay Thai incorporates modern western boxing techniques, there is a style of fighter Muay Mat that uses mostly heavy punches and lowkicks has weapons.Muay Thay rules are very comprehensive on strikes allowed it incorporates punches and elbows kicks and knees and to some extent it also allows clinching, sweeping and throwing. The same goes for defense you can block, parry, catch, grab and some plowing is also allowed. Some top end Muay Thai fighters and great fighters of all time included have good boxing records. So you’ll learn good boxing but it’s more of a power shots kind of boxing. However I would say if you learn boxing it could be helpfull in MT.Kickboxing on the other side allows no elbows or knees (unless its k1 rules) very limited clinch to no clinch sweeps or throws. And the same goes for defense its about parry and block. I believe this creates more conditions for boxing combos feints and some footwork however low kicks proved to be fatal for bladed stance in KB and MT.You’ll learn good boxing but not boxing… if this makes sense.

Which Thai boxing gym in Melbourne do you go to?

Boxing has always been one of my favourites sports. When I came to Chiang Mai, Thailand in 2016, however, I’ve taken an interest in Muay Thai since then. On occasion, I watch UFC matches just to see if there are fighters adept at kickboxing as well. They’re mostly BJJ practictioners. My go-to Thai boxing Melbourne gym is one of the coolest I’ve gone to in the Tullamarine area. I sometimes have those lazy days where I want to work out but my body just doesn’t cooperate. With my gym, I get to work out at my own time and pace. Depending on membership, you can have unlimited access to MMA equipment and facility.
