Does The Fact That Majority Of Politicians Are Men Benefit The Common Man In Any Way

Conservatives are against abortion, but doesn't abortion benefit them politically?

There's a higher relative percentage of Democrat leaning minorities, such as blacks, having abortions, so doesn't abortion lower the voting population of the opponents?

Who benefits the most from Affirmative Action?

you are so right. People just don't understand (or fail to see the fairness of it all) that IF corporations and businesses were FAIR in their hiring practices, there would never have been any need for it. It came about to make sure that if a MINORITY was JUST AS, if not more, QUALIFIED for a position, then they would GET THE JOB. However, some businesses have gotten around that; and say "hey, we got a woman (white though they are)"....

and I hate that word "minority" anyway. Who is a minority?? Who's to say?? We're all EQUAL...or, at least, we're suppose to be.

Do Indian politicians really care about common people?

If you mean voters, yes most of them do care about the image and definitely do lip service. But if you mean doing some meaningful work for solving problems of common man, most of them would first try to see how big the project would be, if the project will be in few 100 crores they would definitely get interested in pursuing it as it would mean an opportunity to pocket at least 50–60 Crores. Look at all the development work that has been done around, it was not done because people needed it, but it was done because a politician decided to pursue it to make money in the process. The public benefit is a byproduct / side effect.

Why have political parties become so polarized that they fail to address the concerns of most Americans?

Hi Sam...hope you are coming back next season!

I have been blogging about this issue for many months and could not agree more that we need a true independent party system that allows all parties access to the electorate, first, in the Primaries then in the General Election. I also favor term limits for all elective office holders.

Currently our system is tightly controlled by the major parties and lobbyists, making it nearly impossible for truly representative government. We need to send a message - Politicians who do not listen and do not do what is best for us will be replaced.

What amazes me is the fact that polling showed that Congress was rated lower than President Bush prior to the 2006 Election. There was a shift in power because of it, yet, they still haven't gotten the message.

We want performance of our wishes!

Groups such as Unity08 are a step in that direction.

Where is happiness in the common man’s life?

Common man has very uncommon Happiness.People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.Love them anyway. If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.Do good anyway. If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.Succeed anyway. The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.Do good anyway.Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.Be honest and frank anyway.People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.Fight for a few underdogs anyway. What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.Build anyway.People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.Help people anyway.Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.Give the world the best you have anyway. If we put our trust in the common sense of common men and 'with malice toward none and charity for all, go forward on the great adventure of making political, economic and social democracy a practical reality, we shall not fail.

Why are American people not interested in politics?

There are several reasons why many (not all) Americans are uninterested in politics:Governance is hard. Many people aren't all that interested in the nuts and bolts of how society works so long as it works. And for the most part it does just work. People do not usually think about government involvement in most facets of their lived, from their education to transportation to how safe their homes and food and water all are. And, to be fair, that's OK. That's what we call good governance.Facts are hard to find. Consider that Fox News routinely broadcasts half truths, distortions and outright lies. Consider that even The New York Times can mess up on a mind-boggling scale (think run up to the Iraq War). Then consider that some of the best sober news analyses we had over the past ten years that people watched were on Comedy Central."Everybody's the same." I cannot tell you how many times I have heard this or from how many people. While there are some decided similarities between corporate Democrats and Republicans, there's this pervasive belief out there that it doesn't matter which of the two parties you vote for because both are corrupt and both vote the same way on pretty much everything. This is demonstrably untrue but it's hard to shake an opinion like that.Political burnout. I coined a phrase at home, "political post traumatic stress disorder." This is not to denigrate people with PTSD. It's meant to describe how many people feel when they look at trying to stay informed and even the simple act of voting. It stresses them out, leaves them frazzled and wanting nothing more than to go watch TV or read a book or go to a game, anything but politics. The last two factors benefit one of the two main political parties, the Republican Party. They demonstrably vote against the pocketbooks and many of the social issues of the average voter. Demobilizing these voters while amping up their own base has allowed them to keep a hold on power for now. How long it will continue is anybody's guess.
