Do some liberals sympathize with Palestine only because most conservatives support Israel?
This question has a problem. It correlates what some people supposedly do with what the majority of another set of people supposedly do.As Marije Meerman's show "The Israel Lobby" indicates, American conservative politicians would Not dare express an opinion other than obsequious devotion to Israel. Rass Bariaw's answer to Some Jews (Neturei Karta) are saying Zionism is the problem, not Fatah, nor Hamas. Are they right? Why or why not?"The Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy" a book by John Mearsheimer, confirms Marije Meerman's documentary. If anyone misses this point, consider that Israel is a nation of 9 million or so. The United States is a nation of close to 300 million, and, by far the most powerful nation on earth. And, this nation of 9 million tells 520 out of 535 members of the US Congress what to do, or else.Of course, under these circumstances, the majority of conservative American Congressmen express their support of Israel out of a firm conviction in Zionism and not because the Zionist lobby would immediately fund their opponents otherwise.Expanded statement in response to certain comments:Some coments challenge the veracity of certain facts that reflect negatively against the Zionist position. Since 1947, the United States has vetoed a minimum of 40 resolutions before the United Nations against Zionism and Israel, presented by an overwhelming majority of member states. The United States' representative to the United Nations represents the wishes of Congress and the President. 40 vetoes speaks volumes.Secondly, $3 Billion of military aid to a nation of 9 million, every, single, year compares vividly with $3 Billion in aid to the 900 + million of sub saharan Africa. Keep in mind that this $3 Billion of arms is spent every year to keep 3.5 + million Palestinians colonial subjects; that amounts to $850 (American tax payers' money) of bullets and bombs used against every, single, Palestinian, man, woman, and child, every, single, year. Not for water; not for food; not for shelter; not for schools; not for medicine; not for clothes, not for shoes; not for games but$850 (American) of bombs and bullets every year per Palestinian; this defines peace in Zionism. This defines American Conservative support of Zionism.
Do Palestinians support Hamas?
My family doesn’t for two main reasons.Islamism-My family doesn’t want Islam pushed down their throats, plain and simple. They are Christians, and like basically everyone else in the Christian community, they do not support any Islamist group. Hamas almost instituted mandatory hijab for everyone in Gaza, and my family was really angry about that being proposed. In addition, it’s isolating to minorities when you have the whole state revolve around Islam, a religion they don’t even practice. It makes us feel like they don’t care about us.Really Bad GovernanceWhile Israeli and Egyptian blockade is in large part to blame for the situation in Gaza, Hamas hasn’t managed it well either and contributes to the problems. Hamas spends a lot of its money on rockets and weapons against Israel while they don’t do much to solve the most pressing issues of the sewage and water crises occurring there. Also, Hamas does nothing to try and alleviate the population crisis in Gaza, and they’ve sometimes made it worse, by suggesting women have massive families. Gaza will become a tougher and tougher place to live with each new person who lives there. Hamas needs to push for people to have smaller families or else the Strip will be uninhabitable.Do some Palestinians support Hamas? Yes, but their level of support is much lower than it used to be, and if they keep mismanaging the hell out of Gaza, it’ll go even lower.
Why are Americans so misinformed about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict?
I'm from Israel, a secular Jew from Jerusalem. correct me if I'm wrong, but Americans seem to associate the conflict in Israel with the conflict the Western world has with Radical Islam. I here comments like: "they have to defend them selves from people who think gods tells them to kill Jews" actually many Palestinians and Israelis come in daily contact with each other. with no violence, the Palestinians are the ones who clean the streets and houses, build our houses, make our food, they are even nurses and doctors who take care of our sick. so some how they manage to not kill us even though "their God tells them to". even though Islam has it's influence... it not really about Islam, it's about two groups of people living on the same spot of land. one taking advantage over the other. in fact some of the first and most murderous Palestinian Terrorists where Christian Palestinians. George Habash, a Palestinian Christian was notorious the 80's and 90's. and it the Israeli army that first funded Hamas, so they could fight the secular Palestinian reticence. it were Jewish rabies who decreed that God asked to kill an Israeli prime minister, and indeed it was a Jew who murdered him. it it is Jewish radicals who believe they must revive the biblical Jewish kingdom and conquer Lebanon Jordan and Syria... and throw out all the Muslims and Christians out it's not necessarily about religion. and yes it got allot to do with Religion. but not in the least in a way that is similar to the conflict the USA has with al qaida and it's more like the conflict between the Protestants and Catholics in Ireland. It's pointless blood shed between two neighbours who actually have allot in common, a conflict where both sides are equally violent and fanatic, but one side is stronger then the other. and if they only set down to talk they could live peacefully side by side
