Does The Salvation Army Get The Money Back We Get Help With

Where does the money I give to the Salvation Army go?

>>something around 75% is used for things other than the cause they are fighting for.

That's not true at all.

Nonprofit organizations have a number of expenses, just like ANY business: facilities rental or leasing, utilities (lights, heating, etc.), office equipment, software, hardware, board liability insurance, property insurance, liability insurance regarding staff and clients, training for staff to keep their skills up-to-date, and in some cases, things like client transportation and housing, as well as qualified, credible staff to administer all the programs - staff that have exactly the same expenses in their lives as any other person (rent/mortgage, car payments, gas, student loans, children in school and college, insurance, health care, etc.). Even if most of the funds goes to staff salaries, that means ALL of the money is going to serving clients, because that means staff are being paid to do all of the things an organization needs done: counseling patients, providing medical care, preparing food, teaching, and on and on.

The Salvation Army does not hand out money to poor families. They provide *services*. If you will look for your local Salvation Army's annual report - or call them and ask them for it - you can see the expenses yourself.

Here is a really great article on these kinds of myths about money to charities not really going to "The cause"

Can I give clothes to the salvation army and get money back?

You can give to goodwill or salvation army. When I go I tell them the amount of $$ my clothes are worth and they give you a receipt. Claim this on your taxes so the government does not keep your money. You should be able to claim $500.00 total as a deduction. Thank you for your time.

For the most part (maybe 95% of the time) all proceeds from Salvation Army Family (or Thrift) Stores in the United States go to support local Salvation Army addiction rehabilitation programs. The main programs that these stores support are the Adult Rehabilitation Centers or ARC's and the Harbor Light centers. In addition to providing a source of revenue for these programs the stores also provide job training and employment opportunities for their clients and residents. In the very few cases where a store is not supporting a rehabilitation center it is supporting its local Salvation Army office (called a Corps Community Center or just Corps for short). This only happens when there is no rehabilitation center within a certain mileage radius of the store. If that is the case the proceeds would go to support the local Corps.

Do You Donate Money To the Salvation Army Kettles?

I do, each so often...yet overheard a communication sooner or later in a Salvation military keep, (Thrift save,) that form of replaced my opinion of them....It became January or early February, and very chilly outdoors, and a guy became soliciting for a Coat, and that they've been extremely giving him the third degree...he instructed them that he had rung the bell in the process the Christmas season, and that he have been given a bowl of soup for lunch whilst he did that....and that they persisted to question him, and that i don;t know if he ever have been given a coat or not...and regardless of if he had gotten a coat beforehand, and can be he misplaced it, or somebody stole it, or maybe he even bought it, I only felt that they'd desire to have given him a coat...there have been lots of them there to grant, and each little thing is donated besides, so why the massive fuss? besides, it curtailed my paying for, and my donating practices with the business enterprise. It became basically a coat, and lots mandatory on the time....i felt they'd desire to have had him sign for a coat and given it to him!

Do you get money for donating to salvation army?

I try to give at least a dollar bill every time I pass a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. But if all I have is change, that's what I give. So by the end of the season, I've probably donated at least $20 by Christmas. Not a huge sum, but about what I donate to the American Cancer Society or Heart Association every time I get an envelope in the mail.

Yes, they will assist

Yes, I would like to add one thing, because the Salvation Army does something every year in Denver, Colorado that saves people from dying or becoming injured. The winters in Denver can be pretty harsh. It you aren’t from Denver, like me, it can be a big wake-up call, I assure you it isn’t something you want to leave to chance. I have seen plenty of people at Denver Cares (detox facility) limping around — because they have lost their toes in the cold in Colorado. For example:These homeless people were lining the sidewalks huddled together along the sidewalks in the Denver five-points during winter 2015–2016.The irony of this is that, as you see in the picture, they are right across the street from “Jesus Saves” — the Denver Rescue Mission on Lawrence, which had no room for them. Across the street to the left is the Samaritan House, Catholic Charities Homeless Shelter, which was full also. Both of these are in the Denver “five-points”, or rather right on the edge of Denver’s “five-points”. Here are maps to those from Denver Donate to include the Salvation Army Shelter in the Denver “five-points”.https://nimbus.everhelper.me/cli...This Salvation Army Homeless Shelter is the ONLY MEN’S OVERFLOW SHELTER DURING WINTER. This is where men need to go, women will not be allowed in, you will be sent to the Samaritan House which is the overflow shelter for women.

Do you put money in the Salvation Army buckets.....?

confident and that i'll assist you recognize why. approximately 19 years in the past, my husband and that i fell on frustrating circumstances. Our cabinets have been bare and our refrigerator substitute into empty. We went to social centers and have been denied previously shall we even fill out an utility for help. We went to the Salvation military and defined our subject. We left their place of work with 4 great grocery sacks of nutrition. I rang bells at Christmas for 5 years after that and function placed money interior the purple bucket each year.

The Salvation Army is The 4th Largest U.S. Charity. They do plenty of good and I’m proud to support them.It is run by people, some of whom can appear to be “holier than thou.”As a non-profit charity, they are not required to make public disclosure of incisive financials. They often tout their volunteer nature. They actually employ over 7000. Most are paid below market rate. It is unclear how many of the 44(?) executive salaries are over $100K. It is hard to verify complaints like: The Salvation Army - Donations spent on officers, not the needyIt is a faith based organization. If you are not their kind of Christian, you do not want to mention religion. They are set up to be emergency help. If you need long term help, prepared to be disappointed. It is an arrogant organization.
