I've lived in most of the Southern states, and only left once. But does blind kindness to all still exist? Definitely, although there's no guarantee they may not be talking behind your back. I did this to my car the other day, don't ask. And within an hour, 15 guys, a dump truck, and a tractor showed up to pull me out. Not a single one of them asked for any type of payment or groaned about being there. It took over 4 hours to get it out, and some only left because they had absolutely had to, but there were guys there until the very end. I knew only 1 of them, not even personally. But would they have done that if I was a Northerner? Black? Asian? I really don't know the answer. But I can say that it happened to a latino guy and they did just the same. The small-town mindset of the South is ever changing, but you can always be reminded that its there on more than a few instances. Outsiders will likely always be on a different playing field than people they perceive as close to home.
