Does This Book Idea Sound Interesting And Original Enough That You Would Read It

Does This Sound Like An Interesting Book?

I am rather shy about my writing. I have an idea for a novel that I want to post on Wattpad.com, but I've decided to get your opinions on the synopsis first. It is a Science Fiction/Adventure (There will be some action and probably a little romance, but not too much). I know that Dystopian science fiction novels are sort of overdone right now, but I want to write this because I genuinly enjoy writing dystopian books, not because of books like The Hunger Games. I appreciate construction critisism, but please don't be rude about it.

Synopsis: Drea Ashings world is shattered when her sister, Elodie, is kidnapped after an attack that leaves her home in ruins. With little but her own life, Drea sets off on a journey through the ravaged wastelands left behind by the War to find her sister.
Suddenly thrown into a lawless, ugly reality, perhaps the most surprising thing of all is what Drea learns about herself; she is as tough as nails, cold as ice and an unbeatable survivor. On a journey that started as a mission to save her sister, Drea will be given the chance to change her corrupt society. There is only one flaw; Drea isn't a hero.

Thanks in advance <3

(To any of those interested in reading, it will be posted on my Wattpad account in a few days. My username is DreamingCorpse).

Is this an original enough story idea?

-I very much like it. But don't worry about that. It matters if you like it or not. There will be people who love and it people who hate it. It's always going to be like that. And since you're the one who's going to be plodding along and writing the thing, better make sure that it's something that you like.
-No, I could keep up with it. There are far more confusing novels out there, trust me.
-Again, it's up to you. Decide the title after you have written it. You might find that there is one scene in the novel that stands out to you most, or perhaps some sort of symbolism. No one can give you a good title right now, having read only a summary. Imagine if "To Kill a Mockingbird" had a title based on the summary! It would be something like... No, I can't even imagine it. It just wouldn't work.
-If it is necessary to the story, then do so. If you're just doing that to appease the readers about his death, don't. Everything in the novel must be important to the plot, and if it's not, then it doesn't belong.
-Fantastic.
And you're welcome. Hope I helped.

I just thought I might add that you should keep up with this. Don't give up. You're writing is very good --better than the regular stuff that appears on Y!A. I suppose you might have read my comment on your previous excerpt though.

How can I stop writing so many unoriginal books?

Most ideas have been done in one form or another. It's all a matter of taking unusual plots/subplots and combining them to make a new story. Or giving the setting a new twist, or completely revamping the cliched persona of a particular group/institution/creature, etc.

So write your story and compile a list of typical "cliches" in that genre you are writing. Then, if you find these same cliches in your story, ask yourself how to do it differently.

EX: instead of writing another teen, angsty harry potter rip off of a wizard kid in a wizard school...make that wizard older and stick him in a secret society, or change the setting altogether.

Either way, your story is original b/c you wrote it. What makes it unoriginal is borrowing the majority of your characters/plots/settings/minor details. So change those around and put several unlikely plot lines together.

EX: plot lines: prince rescues princess, evil witch wants princess dead. Change that to a Princess who's a leader of a rogue/criminal society who uses mythological creatures to test new magics in hope of forming a deadly weapon/spell. And the evil witch is really the hero and the princess' old protege but you're telling the story from the antagonists' point of view.

These examples are crap and laughable at best but they show how you delete and insert new plot lines and turn cliched stories into something else completely.

How do you know when your idea is big enough to write a book about?

Oftentimes you don’t. But you take it out for a spin and see where it leads you.
