Whenever I try to do a makeup look, my eyeshadow always blends in with all the colors & turns into one shade. How do I fix this?
First off, are you using any sort of eye primer or concealer on your eyelid? This can really help to ensure your eyeshadow sticks to your eyes and doesn’t move around anywhere. Be sure to apply a neutral shade that matches your skin tone after applying the primer because a primer alone can really hinder your blending if you don’t set it with a shadow.Next, the quality of your shadows is important. High quality (usually expensive) shadows offer much better pigmentation and blend so much more smoothly than shadows of poor quality. If your shadows are chalky or aren’t very pigmented, not only will they not offer much color but you will have to blend incessantly to get them to look good. This often leads to overblending, which makes your shadows look muddy. When blending, you want to keep a light hand. If you’re pressing too hard, the shadows may mix with each other. Blend only in a small concentrated area between shades to create that gradient effect between the colors rather than blending with broad strokes over the whole eye; this will help keep each color separated with a smooth transition between each one. Also, when applying a shadow, pack it onto the lid instead of sweeping it on so that that shade stays concentrated where you want it.Make sure your blending brush doesn’t have any old product on it so that you don’t accidentally blend an unwanted shadow somewhere, muddying up the look. Try out different blending brushes, preferably a fluffy one (try Morphe or Sigma) to see what works for you. Also: practice! Your skills will get better with time. Best of luck to you!
Eye makeup doesn't look good on me...?
You're eyes are probably very prominent anyway, and you need to find a subtle way to draw attention to them. Wear only clear lip gloss, I know you didn't ask for tips on lipstick, but you should only draw attention to either eyes or lips. then instead of using eyeliner across the lid, use a complimentary neutral colour that goes with your eyes, if you have blue eyes, use grays, if you have brown eyes use brown shades, or taupe. Use a three colour pallet of a neutral shade. Never where colours on your eyes during the day! Use the lightest shade at the top of the lid, and stop at the brow bone. Use the next shade to cover the lid, and then blend the darkest shade at the outer corner of the eye. Then use eyeliner only in the corner of your eye, making a triangle, going only a tiny bit on to the lid, and tiny bit under the eye... Make sure you use the eye shadow sparingly, don't cake it on, subtlety is always key!!Also you may not need mascara, instead heat an eyelash curler with the hair dryer and use that, and only that.
How does Selena Gomez achieve the no makeup look?
A “no makeup” makeup is one of most complicated ones, as you have to use makeup but make it invisible on the face! It is pretty hard.Basically you just have to find a good foundation that will match your skin color perfectly and it would be a sheer foundation that won’t cover or accentuate your skin’s texture, that will not clog pores to make them more visible. Also you would want to skip loose powder as it makes your face matte and flat but instead you will use something like Guerlain pressed Meteorites, just to lightly set the T zone and leave the rest of the face glowy! As for contouring you would want to use it very lightly and blend it so well that there is no harsh lines as well as the contour shade will not be too dark and visible. You just have to create a dimension with it.Use highlighter but very lightly, just to make you face look like it shines from within, nothing too crazy.Brows have to be filled either with powder or left as they are just brushed well.Eyes can be accentuated a little bit with nude eye shadows, just to create dimension as well. Don’t forget to highlight tear duct area.Sheer lip gloss. And the “no makeup” makeup look is complete. But the secret to this look is to use the right amount of each product, this is the hardest!PS And by the way airbrush foundation application is very natural looking but it is very expensive and you have to take really good care of it(airbrush system)!Hope this helps!
Ways to wear black without looking too harsh?
I love wearing black , but I'm a summer. I have fair skin, brown hair and blue/green eyes. I have very feminine taste, but I feel that my look still comes across as too harsh, and it makes me look worn out. When I'm trying on clothes with friends, I look much softer (and prettier) in pinks and blues, but they don't feel right. I've tried a few things like wearing lace and avoiding spikes and studs, but I still feel that my look is too harsh and masculine for my personality. I am into the goth look, but I don't carry it very far (As in I don't wear white face paint or dye my hair). Can I still use black as the dominant color in my wardrobe without looking eternally tired and/or aggressive? Or should I give up on retaining my goth style and focus on looking more feminine? If so, what colors should I wear? Would I have to give up on trying to look pretty in favor of staying gothic in fashion? Are there examples of beautiful goth women who are also summers? (I know there are plenty of beautiful goths or goth-like women like Dita Von Teese and Siouxsie Sioux, but they are winters and naturally look good in black). Thanks for helping. This has been bothering me for years.
What makeup mistakes cause you to look ugly?
The word "ugly" is a bit too harsh so I'd be listing out a few points to avoid some makeup mistakes to make it look good. Not prepping the face.Your makeup needs a good canvas just like paintings do. Prep your skin well by cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing it well.Avoiding the lipsEspecially if you're a matte lipstick lover, using a lip scrub and lip balm is must for the lipstick to look good and not crumbly.Using too much foundationUsing a lot of foundation won't give you higher coverage, instead, it'd give you a cake face. Apply a very small amount of foundation and layer it up on places you feel you need more coverage.Keep a clean wet sponge handy and dab it across your face if your makeup looks cakey. This will sheer out your makeup. If you feel like you've powdered your face a bit too much, use a setting spray to melt it off.Using a very light concealerUnless your skills match to that of Mario Dedivanovic (the handsome and talented makeup artist of Kim Kardashian), don’t go with a concealer too light in order to get that “highlighted and bright undereye”.Stick to your actual shade and use a translucent powder (like RCMA no colour powder) or a banana powder to highlight the under eye area.Painting your browsUnless you're a pro, please don't carve your brows and paint it like one of those Instagram brows. It looks very bad. Just fill in the empty spaces to make them look fuller. Not tightlining the eyesTightlining means to apply kajal/ eye pencil on the upper waterline. This makes your lashes look denser. But a lot of people skip this and it looks pretty obvious in the picture especially if you have a flash on. (The empty space right below your eyeliner is what I’m talking about)Sleeping with makeup onWhile the other things are makeup mistakes, this habit of yours can actually end up giving you an ugly skin. Take your makeup off and no that doesn’t involve washing your face with just a cleanser. Get a makeup remover or oil or micellar water to completely take it off and do a final cleanse with your facewash. The last tip would be to blend your makeup well. As soon as you feel, you have blended enough, blend it for another 1–2 minutes. These are all the things I could think of! Hope it helps.
Best eye makeup to avoid "angry" look?
Well, dont add so much!!! if you have small eyes, less is more. And use natural colors with more empahsise on eyelashes! Put a good amount of mascara on lashes and curl before and after! The curlier the lashes, the more open your eyes look.
Everybody tells me i look soooo much better w/o makeup & that i loook like a drag queen WITH makeup?
I'm just assuming that this is what you wear during the day to school?? The makeup your using is way too harsh, even for a night time look. Try more warm natural colors like shimmery golds and browns. If you wear more natural colors u will get a less harsh look and feel like your wearing makeup, but you wont be wearing loads. theres a really good palette from wet n' wild that is perfect for natural makeup (i believe it's called sandcastle?) I use this palette every day with a little pink blush, pink tinted lip balm, and mascara. I get compliments on how natural my makeup looks. Also if you do just a light wash of color in your eyelid you won't look like a "drag queen". Good luck I hope I helped. :)
