Does This Sound Okay For The Start Of A Book

Does my book idea sound good?

It's about two rival girls, where one girl (named Ashley), believes that the other girl (named Taylor), is trying to get between her and her soon-to-be boyfriend. Her boyfriend is actually a psychotic control freak, who wants to believe Ashley will do anything for him, and he tells her that Taylor is a roadblock in their key to happiness, and that she must be "gotten rid of". Ashley doesn't want to, but her warped sense of morality due to her desire and fear of Wayne might make her step past the boundaries of common sense---and make her do something she will always regret.

There are also two other boys involved, named Michael and Matt, who serve to be Ashley's friends and mentors. They also are into extreme sports as a subplot.

Does my book sound good?

I'm writing a book and I wanna know if my idea is a good one. It's about a young girl who lucid dreams her way out of reality. She starts to see characters from her dream world in real life and people think she is going crazy. Her twin thinks she is hallucinating until he sees them too. As her dream characters come to life, people in the real world disappear and it's only a matter of time before she disappears too. Azlyn, her brother Austin, Lorie, and Kevin must work together in order to save the world.

So what do you think???

What is the sound that you hear when you open a new book? That sticky sound from inside? You hear it the first few times you open it.

That sound is the new spine creaking from the pressure of opening it. Old(er) books don't creak: they fall to pieces instead.

Does this book sound good? Please give your advice!?

These don't seem like chapter outlines so much as descriptions of the characters that the chapters are about. I would suggest planning out the characters (Maybe just giving them each their own little biopgraphy so you know all of their information) and then coming up with a general plot outline. So far, all this does is introduce them and there isn't much conflict spread out between them to like... pull them together.
What I'm trying to get at is that five chapters seems awfully short. Perhaps you mean that it will have five parts with smaller scenes dividing them?
Even so, I think it would be important for you to work on your transitions between the events.

If you'd like to discuss this, you can email me at Cam.SailaX@yahoo.com, and I also have Yahoo! Messenger.

As for being published as a young writer, don't worry about it until you've written your book. Chances are after writing it, editing it, revising it, perhaps rewriting it or editing it again, you will probably be a bit older. It might even take several years for you to perfect your story, depending on how much time you can devote to your writing each day. By then, you might be older than you expected to be.
If you do finish your story while you are still considerable young (I mean under 18, legally a child...) you would just have a bit more difficulty finding an agent willing to work with you and your parents would probably have to be more involved in the process. If the story is outstanding though, you will likely face the same problems as most adult writers, just with a bit of extra struggle to get people to take you more seriously. That's why right now you should just focus on writing the story, rather than worrying about being published. It's the story that matters most in publishing.

Is it okay to keep a stack of books beside humidifier?

It makes a difference to keep books by a humidifier at all, at any distance.

And no, it's not okay to store them by one if you want your books to last.

Books should always be protected from moisture, light and dust.

If you don't, covers and paper will curl, yellow and become brittle much more quickly.

Of course when you're reading them, you're using them.

But to store them? Not anywhere near a humidifier.

Put them in a cabinet, closet or another place safe from the elements above.
