Does Unripe Lemon Have Stronger Citric Acid

Acid in lemon juice vs. vinegar? URGENT?

Lemon juice is about 5% citric acid, which gives lemons a tart taste, and a pH of 2 to 3.

Vinegar is a liquid processed from the fermentation of ethanol in a process that yields its key ingredient, acetic acid. The acetic acid concentration ranges typically from 4 to 8 percent by volume for table vinegar (typically 5%) and higher concentrations for pickling (up to 18%) although in some countries the minimum strength may be less. Natural vinegars also contain smaller amounts of tartaric acid, citric acid, and other acids

The pH of vinegar is typically in the range of 2.5 to 3, depending on the concentration of acetic acid. Commercially available vinegar usually has a pH of about 2.4

Which is more acidic, lemon or lime and why?

A lime has denser flesh than a lemon which makes it heaver. Limes contain more acid than lemons, and are more sour (but lemons are small, green and more bitter before they mature and then turn yellow and more sweet when they mature. So what's the difference between a lime and an immature lemon?)When put into a glass or bowl of water, a lime will sink to the bottom, and a lemon will float on the top. Could the difference in density be due to a difference in sugar content or a difference in lipid (oil) content? Lipids are less dense than water. Lemons are known for their lemon oil. Cut a lemon and feel the oil on the surface. A small, dense, green, immature lemon floats in water!Although lemons are acidic, they are alkalizing in your body. Most of the foods we eat are very acidic and too much acid can bring about a barrage of health problems. That's because your body actually prefers to be alkaline. Instead, most people bombard their systems with too many acidic foods and drinks, which have long lasting detrimental effects. That's why lemons are so important to consume. They help alkalize your blood and your body thanks you! Is hydrogen peroxide a better alternative to lemon juice for your hair?

Both will damage. I wanted to know the same thing acouple years ago. Unfortuanaly i tried both. THe peroxide will make it turn orange. i wanted my golden blonde hair a light blonde, and it made it like, coppery orange and all dried out. I took lemon juice too and soaked my hair in it while sitting in the sun by the pool and it lightened it but dried it out even more. You know how in science class you talk about acids and bases? well lemon juice is a stong acid that eats your hair up. I dye my hair now. i was so scared of dying it because my parents talked all these horrible things into my head about it. Use ONLY a garneir shade, take about a tablespoon of olive oil, (NOT baby oil) jojoba oil, grapeseed oil (j +g found at sallys and o walmart) and add the oil they give you. Also add a little oil to your hair periodically. it helps big time. hope i helped:D

If you eat lemons, could the acid burn your stomach lining?

I like eating plain lemons (don't ask, I'm weird like that) but I sometimes get stomach aches afterward. Could this be because of the citric acid? Also, is it true that citric acid in lemons can burn fat in your stomach?

What are the side effects of drinking lemon water every morning? Does it make your bones brittle?

There are no direct or indirect side-effects of drinking lemon water. On the contrary, it is highly useful. Sailors drink it daily as it reduces or finishes sea-sickness. It is good source of glucose and increases energy. Citric Acid is the main precursor for bone formation in the body because it contains Vitamin-C. Its deficiency leads to Scurvy which makes the bones brittle and weak. Bones can become brittle due to excess of Citric Acid. But that's impossible because when it moves down the stomach it becomes alkaline through salivary action and by the mucous inner-lining of the stomach. So, there is no probability of bones becoming brittle or weak due to daily consumption of Lemon-Water. Due to the presence of water, the citric acid is made concentrated. It should be consumed every day as it is beneficial to our health.

Do lemons start losing vitamin C as soon as you cut them?

I’m not very sure of the answer myself but I will answer as much as I know from what I’ve learnt. Hope it helps :)Lemons have a powerful anti-oxidizing agent. As everyone knows, lemons are extremely acidic due to the presence of citric acid and has a pH of about 2. It is squeezed generally on salads to prevent the cut fruits or vegetables from being oxidized. So here it slows the oxidation process of freshly cut fruits and veggies which tend to brown. Thus, we can come to a conclusion that lemons itself will have a slow oxidation rate when kept open after being cut and have lesser chances of losing out their nutrients. Lemons can be cut and refrigerated in an airtight container so that it stays fresh longer. But it is always better to use it soon before it shrinks or dries because they will not stay fresh for more than 3–4 days as it comes in contact with moisture when refrigerated. I’m saying it from my personal experience since I have observed closely whenever I’ve stored them in the fridge, they stay fresh maximum for a couple of days.By the way, I’m a part of Product Innovation and Marketing Team of Snackexperts, Chennai.
