Does Your Government Scare You

What scares you most on the internet?

As a generation Z myself, i use the internet on a daily basis, mostly i use internet to interact with my friends through social media and to learn something that i don’t know.internet is a very beautiful thing that has ever invented, basically anything can be found here, literally anything. Internet has its advantages and disadvantages depends to the user. What scare me the most is indonesian netizen, yes indonesian netizen. The way they responding to something on social media/news can be so disgusting.I am gonna show you, how scary and brutal indonesian netizen can be on the internet, i dont know what’s going on in their mind, but smhhhThese are the example that i took on Line ( popular chat application in Indonesia) these are just a “FEW” and there still a lot more of them can e easily found on instagram/facebook/they’re basically everywhere. In this photo, they are reacting to a viral post, the post is basically trying to deliver a good message to all the readers, the point of the message is not to take a picture of strangers and post it to social media because of their appearance/styles/the way they sleep at bus in order to be viral and famous on social media because it’s illegal. But, here’s the comment section ( it’s in bahasa). But fortunatelly, there are still some people who take the post seriously and agreed to the post.As an indonesian, i am so ashamed. I’m posting this not to fight against my own country, this is just a reminder on how indonesia still need to educate its citizen more or to prevail some law for this kind of act.Peace,

Which scares you more - your government having your biometric information, or hackers getting access to it?

Hackers? Typically they have no commitment to protect the U.S. Constitution. Except for the White Hats maybe, but I digress.Black Hat hackers have few morals beyond self interest or rabid anarchistic tendencies.Seems like the U.S. government is lower risk.(I don’t know about other governments)

Should we be scared of the Government?

Thomas Jefferson once said: "When people fear the government, it is tyranny. When government fears the people, it is liberty."

Because so many of us fear the government, our nation is becoming a totalitarian state, a police state where citizens are presumed guilty until proven innocent. More of us need to stand up to the government, hold its feet to the fire, and demand that 'we the people' take this country back from the oppressors in the White House, in Congress, and in the way-too-many bureaucratic agencies that now control our very lives.

It's time for the next revolution. If we don't take action soon, our democracy will die. And, as Robt. Maynard Hutchins said: "The death of democracy is not likely to be an assassination from ambush. It will be a slow extinction from apathy, indifference, and undernourishment."

Plato said: "Democracy passes into despotism." We are 'this close' to being taken over by a handful of wealthy elitists, industrialists, oil barons and power brokers who only want to become wealthier and more powerful. If 'we the people' don't get off the couch, put down the remotes, and take action soon, our democracy will die. -RKO-

What actions did the government take during the red scare?

Your talking about the McCarthy years aren't you ?

What they did was overreact Big-time ie:- people were jailed for having Communist literary in their homes which I might add was available in public libraries and a host of other really stupid actions

Senator McCarthy even had the inventor of the pogo stick up before a Senate hearing for creating an "Un-American toy " i kid you not

Why does MEPS lie to us about the governments capapbilities of checking medical history?

The military can not go above HIPAA laws. The military is not above civil right laws.

Unless you sign a release form the military can not view your medical history. One does not sign a release form to join the military.

Why does the government scare doctors out of prescribing opioids? My pain management doctor is becoming hesitant to prescribe pain meds. He knows how bad my chronic pain is so why does the government think otherwise?

I assume you are in the USA. You can thank Purdue Pharma and the very wealthy Sackler family for helping to create a situation whereby the USA consumes more than 80% of the world’s opioids but has less than 5% of the world’s population. When the government finally realised what was going on (after many many people had tried to ring alarms over it for a decade and the CDC declared it as a health epidemic) they eventually decided to act. It was obvious to anybody that certain rogue doctors had been massively overprescribing, especially in certain states such as Kentucky. If the doctors’ oversight bodies, the FDA and other agencies could not be trusted to manage the prescribing of opioids sensibly, then the government had to step in.Unfortunately, they have ‘taken action’ by making the FDA put pressure on all doctors to reduce opioid prescriptions, so the sick and the junkie alike are being targeted. The government is not thinking anything - it is just pressuring all doctors, which means that those who may be dependent and have chronic pain are facing horrible pain. You could always have a think about what is unique to the US medical experience, in how it got to this situation. After all, Purdue Pharma has a medical offshoot in the UK, which has similar areas of deprivation in the old industrial towns of the North, and has also seen a big increase in opiate and opioid prescribing (27%), but still just a tiddler compared with the massive opioid overprescription in the USA - see link below. If you want to know the background to the overdosing of the American public, this book is a fairly comprehensive read on the subject: American Overdose: The Opioid Tragedy in Three Acts (Paperback – published 15 Nov 2018)but there are others.Concerns raised as opioid prescriptions rise across UK
