Dog Keeps Licking Cat And Is Utterly Obsessed.

My dog keeps licking the new kitten...?

I found a emaciated little kitten yesterday while walking my dog and brought it home. My dog is a cat chaser so I'm being pretty careful in their interactions. My dog is a 3 yo spayed lab mix who's never had puppies. I've been playing it by ear and letting them interact with each other in small doses and so far that seems to be working. The only thing is that any time I allow the dog to get close while I'm holding the kitten (and holding the dog's harness to pull back if she makes an agressive sound or movement) she starts licking the kitten.

While I'm happy they aren't growling, hissing, scratching, or biting each other, I wonder how much licking I should allow. Is it a bonding thing I shouldn't stop?

She seems to focus on the kitten's ears, belly, and butt, is that at all weird?

Why does my dog keep licking my leather sofa?

Why does my dog keep licking my leather sofa?Your Baby “sees” a GIANT beef hide chew toy! That TASTES GREAT!Dogs love leather chew toys, leather chew flips, and dozens of other shapes made from beef leather (the hide, animal skin) including leather couches, leather gloves, leather shoes, and an occasional Pigskin football. Beef leather chews can be found at every pet supply store, in great volumes, as it is much loved.I have a difficult time remembering that my LEATHER work gloves LOOK & SMELL like just another CHEW TOY to the Girls also, and occasionally leave them on a counter top (eye height for greyhounds), where one glove will just go missing. And now have quite a collection of odd gloves, with two to four fingers totally exposed, when putting them on. Or the palm section is gone, and the glove is useless (except to the Girls).Leather furniture is most often covered with cowhide, and a leather couch here at home, is a regular (king size) chew toy that cannot be chewed, BUT licking is lovely again (when the cheapo throw-over couch-cover, goes to the washer & dryer).I guess Your dog has claimed that sofa, as A PERSONAL GIANT CHEW TOY, like mine have!Maybe you will have to get yourself YOUR OWN new sofa pretty soon, or get a cloth throw-over sofa-cover to → to hide, the hide.

Why does my dog keep licking my cat?

One possibility that I noticed none of the other responders mentioned was the possibility of marking. If you have ever seen two housemate cats together, they will often groom each other around the face and ears and that is done to mingle their scent, as if to say “I know you.”One of my cats did the same with my dog. Anytime I took my dog anywhere, the cat would insist on sniffing him all over and then grooming him as if he was reinforcing his own scent back on the dog. Another of my cats, when she was a kitten, would suckle on my dog’s fluffy ears (he was an English Setter) as of he was a Mama cat. It often required shaving off the terirble mats she created by continually grooming his ears. However, if she is doing it enough to the point that she is actually removing his hair and causing bald spots which would make me considered that something in h\the house and she is grooming him to help soothe herself.

My dog keeps licking my athletes foot is that a bad thing?

My dog found athletes foot on my boyfriend, he had no idea he had it. She wasn't licking it but she would not leave it alone. I wouldn't let the dog lick it. But I did read an article about a man who had a horrible case of athletes foot and nothing he did treated it.Everything the doctors gave did not help and he tried every over the counter treatment he could find but nothing worked and he finally gave up. Everyday he came home from work took off his shoes and put his feet up. His dog would lick his feet and after a few weeks it cleared up because of the dog licking them. I don't know if there is any truth to this story or if it's harmful to the dog but they're mouths are clean.

Why is my dog licking my kitten manically?

Because it finds the kitten cute! My dog does this aswell and gets so excited whenever the kittens visit inside my room, she likes to lick them a lot and play with them. I'd like to think that she just loves them as much as we do.

My cat likes licking my nose, is that fine?

There was a movie in the mid to late 1990s called something about cats and dogs, the main character played a vet with a radio show. Every time I see a question like this, I think of a line from that movie. A guy called in, his dog had been licking his face for an hour or some ridiculous amount of time, and he asked “Is that OK?” . The vet said “You can love your dog… just don't love your dog" Exactly! And eww. :0)My kitty girl is such a caregiver (my Mom calls cats like this, the ones who wash their friends, hang out with them even if they feel icky “nurse cats") and she always wants to wash the back of my hands. One quick “kiss" is fine, then I thank her lavishly and hand her a toy or pet her head. Cat tongues are serious business, the magnified pix of them are kind of incredible to me. Covered in “barbs", which makes sense since they do so much grooming. Not a great habit for them to get into with people though.

Why does my dog keep trying to lick my new tattoo?

In December of 2006, I got a tattoo on my ankle. My dog was constantly sniffing it and trying to lick. Once it healed up she stopped. This past Saturday I got a tattoo on my wrist, and again she is always sniffing it and trying to lick it. It's not because I have stuff on it because she does it even when there isn't anything on it, like when it's clean. Why is she doing this?

Why does my dog love to lick my cat’s butt?

Dogs love cat candy (aka, tootsie rolls or cat poo). It is probably high in protein and fat since typically their diets are richer than dog food. So to your dog, the cat’s butt tastes pretty good. There's really not much you can do about it, and as long as the cat doesn't mind it, I'd leave it alone. If it bothers you (or the cat) you can try using a squirt bottle full of water. If you squirt the dog when he's licking the cat, soon they will both avoid the experience.

Why does my dog lick my cat?

My cat’s name is Karl Gustav. I named him that because he is so snooty. When I open the door for him to come in he needs an honor guard of trumpets to signal his arrival. My dog’s name is Gertrude and she is mischievious. One day when I opened the door for Karl’s grand entrance, Gertrude was behind me and as Karl came in Gertrude gave him a big sloppy kiss on the face. Well, Karl ran to the back of the couch and spent the next hour trying to wash that abomination off of his face. Meanwhile Gertrude congratulated herself for figuring out a way to get back at Karl for his haughty attitude without getting in trouble herself.
