Double Major Part Time

Double major vs. major + minor?

I'm not sure what advantages a double major provides unless there are two subjects that you're truly passionate about. A double major is time-consuming and it means that most of your classes will be devoted to those two majors, which prevents you from taking other subjects you might want to try. Probably the easiest way to do a double major is to do well enough on high school AP exams to earn college credit. If you then attend a college that offers credit for those AP scores, you can knock a semester's worth (or more) of entry level college courses and move more quickly into courses for your major.

Double major in art and nursing? HELPPPP!!!?

You cooooould double in art and nursing, but here's the hitch:

1. Most nursing programs have heavy-duty waiting lists and require you to take pre-reqs before they let you declare. This process can take 2 years.
2. Clinical training will take up a lot of your time. Nursing is one of the most time-intensive majors around.
3. Art studio will take up a lot of your time. Art is one of the most time-intensive majors around (you know how to pick 'em, don't ya!).
4. There is no overlap between your art and nursing courses, which means it might take you a whole lotta time (and tuition) to earn your degree.

Yes, you CAN double major, but it ain't gonna be easy.

Here's something to consider: Nursing requires a degree and licensure. Art does not. You can still take some art classes as electives and do art in your spare time, even if you opt not to major in it. In terms of productivity and sales, an art degree will not significantly improve how much art you can sell. Even amateurs can produce gorgeous, splendid (and profitable) artworks.

However amateurs cannot be nurses. You actually need the degree (and a passing NCLEX score) to do that.

Teacher and a RN can I be a Double major?

There is nothing stopping you from picking up more science classes while you are doing your nursing prerequisites. However, the nursing program itself will be full time with little time for anything else. You could get a dual Bachelors and then decide what you would like in to do for a Masters. You can also get a Bachelors degree in the Sciences and do an Accelerated BSN program which is very popular right now. Many nurses entering the field do have other college degrees and alot of them have been in the Sciences with the intent to become teachers in elementary or HS. But, with the massive layoffs in the US in the school systems they have had to go back to college. Teaching is not a good profession right now except in nursing schools for MSN and Doctorate Nurses.

Some of my educators had advanced science degrees in physiology and then a Ph.D in education. With nursing embracing Evidenced Based Medicine, there will be a demand for those with a higher education in the sciences and nursing for research and teaching. The sciences obtained in nursing school does not always prepare on to adequately be able to teach them.

Example of an instructor for a nursing program to teach Anatomy and Physiolgy.

If you can not incorporate the science teaching into your work as a nurse, you may have a problem. Nursing is not something that you can just do occasionally or at least not as first. You will have to be committed to the profession for a few years to gain proficiency. Getting a nursing degree is just on small part of the education. Working as a nurse is where your education begins. You don't want to be considered still a newbie 10 years after graduating because you didn't put much effort into your nursing profession.

Can i do a double major plus a minor?

It depends on the school if they will let you do that. I graduated with two majors and a minor. It's no biggie, but I think you should also consider the difficulty of your major and how it works with your majors and minors. I did a communication major with a video minor so a lot of my classes blended together and I was kinda of learning the same thing in each one. You just need to make sure your school allows you to do that or if you need special permission to do that.. You need to talk with your advisor or registrar's office.

Could I do a STEM double major while working full time with ease with a WAIS IQ of 150?

This is not really about IQ. It will depend on a variety of things, including:How well prepared you are. Has your study so far prepared you well for the course that you are interested in?You study habits and discipline.Your physical and mental health.Your personal circumstances: do you have any responsibilities or distractions outside study and work, such as caring for children or frail relatives? How long do you need to spend commuting each day? Do you have a romantic partner who deserves some of your time? Do you want to continue any volunteering efforts or hobbies? The course load associated with the double major: does it require you to take a course overload, and if so, how heavy an overload?Your ambitions for your study: do you just want to pass, do you want to be top of the class, or do you want to go above and beyond and explore intellectual nooks and crannies of the courses you are studying?Your work: is it the type of job where “full time” means 35 hours a week, or is it the type of job with an implicit expectation that you’ll be working 60 hours a week?Full-time study is supposed to be full-time. If you can pass easily in fewer hours, then you can spend the remaining hours learning more, and I think you’ll be missing out if you are not free to do that. But if you need to work full time while also studying, and your personal circumstances allow it, then it can be done.

Should I Double Major in Elementary Education and Nursing?

Since i was little (about 11, maybe a little younger) i've had Elementary Teacher on my "When i grow up Career List". My Teachers kind of inspired me and i wanted to be like them.
About 2 or so years ago, i learned about Neonatal Nursing.
Out of everything ive ever looked into, these are the two that have stayed on my list. The ones that are hard for me to choose between.
