Dropping Out Of A Sport

What if sports were dropped from school?

I have to write a 150-200 word essay on what would happen if sports were dropped from school! Due friday,April 30th!! i dont need you to write the report just tell me some things that would happen! please

Can you rejoin a high school after dropping out??

I think he would need to check with the school. I think rules regarding this would differ from school system to school system. If he has been out for 2 years he may have some catch up to do. Perhaps you could schedule a meeting with an empathetic school counselor.

If he is unable to go back to school, he can get a GED through many programs in your area. I am sure the school counselor could help you with this as well. Or you could even check the phone book for places that offer GED courses.

For sports, if he is ineligible for HS sports due to age, have him check into Rec leagues. My husband played rec league basketball in our county for one year. He was 40 and most of the men in the mens rec league were 18-22.

Why adults drop sports that they had in young age?

Lot of reasonsAs per the survey conducted world wide..40 to 50% of them drop out at the age of 14 to 16.The main reasons for drop out areLost interest due to excess pressureDue to stressed out as more pressure building upDue to political aspects from coaches or schools etcLack of visibility on the future roadmap with sportsPressure from parents to choose studies than sportsDue to country political system not encouraging sports. These are the main reasons came out of surveys.. but for sure in India sports is seen as something chosen by waste people who can't capable of doing anything. Studies take very high priority than sports in India.Presently iam working on a startup considering all these aspects and how we can decrease the drip out ratio..

Is It Appropriate To Drop Your Child Off For Sports Practices & Pick Them Up Or Must You Remain With Them?

Parents... I'm just curious if you have kids in sports, do you ever drop them off at practice and pick them up at the end or do you feel that it is inappropriate to leave them at practice and you must stay and spectate all practices and all games?

I'm especially interested in anyone's answer who has multiple kids and is accustomed to splitting time and focus between them.

There is a debate going on with my sons team. The coach says it's lack of common decency not to stay and spectate the practices... I think because he feels that if he must be there the whole time for his kid so should every parent, if I understood his point accurately.

As a parent this seems ridiculous to me, because if I had that kind of time I would've just volunteered to coach myself.... hence the whole reason I paid $310 for both kids to play baseball... and my brother assistant coaches so I don't see why I need to be there, unless he wants me to fill in to help when he can't make it.

What do you guys think?

Oh, and it's a farm league of 8-10 yr olds, if that helps to know.

Sports practices/ games... should you drop your child off and leave?

I've always stayed but mostly because I enjoy watching. I will tell you that by the time my kids were about 9, I was pretty much the only parent who stayed with the exception of one or two here and there. I like to watch because I can hear what the coach is saying and I can see what my children need to work on and then when I practice with them at home know what things to say and I know more about the game and I can work with them on the right things. I will say that last year I finally started dropping and leaving my oldest who is 15 just because his practice was at dinner time and so I would leave and go home to feed the others and then I'd go back and catch the end of the practice.

I am thinking of dropping out from engineering to get some good future in sports. What should I do?

Please don’t take such risky decisions. First complete your degree and have a backup plan. If you succeed in sports field its great, BUT if you DON’T, then at least you will have a backup INCOME plan. If you are FINANCIALLY very strong and u believe you don’t have to earn any money to support your family, then you can definitely afford this RISK.

With HBO dropping out of boxing coverage, will another network pick up the slack?

On the contrary.. HBO was the leading light in the late 1970s and early 80s, then with the heavyweight unification series solidified its place at the head of boxing broadcasting.. unfortunately for HBO, boxing has become a whole lot more complicated, with a far wider audience, larger number of promoters and even wider number of competitive tv outlets.. Boxing has never been as popular, unfortunately for HBO, the bigger names that they once heralded exclusively were lured to opposing networks.. One of the biggest mistakes HBO made was declining on Floyd Mayweathers contract, forcing him to go with a rival network, and becoming the sports biggest name, a decision they will probably always regret. The biggest issue is the way HBO has been run, with inept management and poor decision making.. This led to their unpopularity and loss of revenue thus leading to it having to let boxing go.. If in the distant future they adopt the approach they did back in the 80s under Seth Abraham, they very well could return as a force, but by no means is it an end for boxing, it is thriving and extremely healthy.

How to convince your parents to let you quit a sport?

hi:) so i used to do ballet, ice skating, and piano....but i quit them all for who knows wat reason (i was little) :/. and now i swim. i have been swimming since 4th gr. and now im going into 9th gr. and i discovered my new passion for cheerleading(and i mean a true true passion like i practice a lot and i cant stop researching new cheerleading things...im obsessed!) so i was going to do cheer and swimmin for freshman year but i thought i would be in over my head so i dropped the idea of cheer (im still obsessed). for sophomore year i want to do cheerleading and not swimming(i honestly dont like swimming that much anymore)....but my parents wont let me quit it cuz my dad swam and he would get rly mad at me and my mom says i switched sports too much(the sports i quit are mentioned above) and they want me to get a swim scholarship. but my heart is in cheer! how can i convince them to let me switch...again :/. please help! thnx for everything:)

Is it possible to play college football after dropping out of high school?

Yes, but probably not directly. You would have to go through a junior college. Many junior colleges and community colleges (basically synonyms both describing two-year colleges) have football teams, and many will admit anyone in the community, even without a high school diploma. Others will admit you with a GED, which you can earn as a high school dropout. At this junior college, you would have to both prove yourself as a football player and get good enough grades to graduate from the junior college (Associate’s degree) and then get both academically admitted and recruited to play football at a regular four-year college.TJ Houshmandzadeh is one former NFL player who went this route, and played college football in a big-time program (Oregon State) without ever graduating from high school. I believe he is the only one to actually make it to the NFL following that path, but there have certainly been others to get as far as playing in college. It’s a longshot, but not impossible.
