Drugs And Explaing At Interview

Does 7-11 drug test when you go in for an interview?

Based on information from their own website (see the final paragraph, below), the answer is YES! --- with about 99.9% certainty.

The larger the company, the more likely they are to drug test, since setting up a drug testing program is a bit pricey, but once it's set up, the cost per person drops dramatically. (It like when someone orders business cards: the first 100 might cost $20, but if you order 1000 cards, it might cost only $40.)

Almost every business is, or will soon be, drug testing prospective employees. Their thinking is basically: "Why not? We don't want these folks working for us, since they do poorer quality work, take more unscheduled time off, and increase our risk and liability exposure." The only downside is the cost of testing, perhaps as much as $75-100 per applicant ---- and that's nothing compared to the benefits a company obtains by drug testing. It's like cheap insurance, so that even if a bad incident occurs, the company can truthfully state that they did all they could to proactively protect the public ----- what will they say if they FAILED to drug test an employee who later causes something bad to happen? ("We were just trying to save that $75" won't sound too good when the guy from "60 Minutes" wants you to explain to America why that gate in front of the nuclear reactor wasn't secured.)

The bottom line: if you're looking to work at ANY job, plan on being drug tested. And remember this ---- those kits sold at some pharmacies that claim to produce a clean urine test are total BS ..... and the newer drug tests even check for a couple of ingredients that these kits contain [these are not illegal substances, but they are substances that people don't usually have in his/her urine. So the drug tester knows that the applicant is trying to disguise some illegal drug, as well as making a pre-meditated,deliberate attempt to deceive his/her prospective employer].

How do I know this? --- I'm in the medical field, and I am often asked to review questionable drug testing results (for both military and civilian testing programs).

Can Advil PM make you fail a drug test? I had a interview today and failed. i only took a advil for pain?

http://www.erowid.org/pharms/diphenhydra...

Found this for you. Diphenhydramine is one of the active ingredients in Advil PM

Also found this:
Subj: Motrin, dimetap, Flovent, or benadry?l
Date: 6/23/2008
I have tested positive for drugs in a urine test that tests for amphetamines, heroin, cocaine, meth, caffeine, etc. I occassionally take motrin, dimetap, and benadryl. I also regularly take my asthma medications. My doctor assures me it couldn't be my puffers but I don't know whether to believe her. I currently take Flovent HFA and ratio-salbutamol HFA 100UG regularly.

AskDocWeb: Both Motrin and Dimetapp have been reported to show up as false positives on some drug screen tests. (http://www.askdocweb.com/falsepositives3...

I suggest you explain to the interview panel that you took the Advil PM, and make a printout of the info on these sites to show them that the failed drug test was a false positive.

Had 2nd interview with Costco, passed the drug test, now background check?!?

It really just depends on Costco's policies, what they look for when running your background check, and how old the offense is.

The best thing to do is to tell them about it and explain what happened, why it happened, and why it will never happen again.

Think of it this way: if you tell them about it, you have the chance to explain and make yourself more human. If it just comes back on paper and you never told them about it and left it off your application no only will you look shifty and untrustworthy, you'll probably never hear back from them.

Job interview for home depot, and not being able to make the drug test.?

I had a Job Interview for Home Depot today, and they told me I needed a drug test today, as well. My grandfather passed away over night, last night and I'm headed out of town for his funeral now. Would It be OK for me to call Home Depot and explain to them my situation, and reschedule the test? I'm not a user so I'm not trying ot avoid it, just.. more important things came up. Will I still be considered for the Job if I can't start right away? I'll get back the 26th, (about 1 week) do you think that will be OK?
Thanks in advance!

Car dealer Interview tommorrow...drug hair test.?

Hmmm, it sounds like you and my "friend" could be working for the same nationwide company. :) If it is, they won't do it at the interview (although I've heard that some companeis, like Casinos and Major grocery stores will now drug test you right on the spot.) If it's the same company or with most companies, your official letter will have some blurb about "the offer stands contingent upon a successful drug test". They will then mail/give you a packet with the instructions and drug free work place policy will explain what their rules are and it should tell you what they are testing for. Although your hair will tell your drug history for as long as your hair is.....the company is most likely going to take a 90 day sample Thats the bottom 3-4 cm, closest to the root. If your hair is too short, they will pull/shave hair from somewhere else (arm, armpits, or legs). They may even go where you don't want them to go!

The hair shampoo works great! Follow the directions to a T. When it's all done wash, wash, wash that stuff out you hair. Your hair will feel dry and yuky for a while, but your a guy, you can just cut it out. For girls, it's a little more damaging.
(So I've heard!)
The worse part is that looooong week, waiting for the results. No news is good news. The lab will know your results within 24 hours of recieving it. If it is positive they will contact your employer immediately. I've heard in some cases/state the lab will/has to contact you first and give you a heads up, although I can't confirm that.

I don't know the exact link for all of this info, but trust me, when my "friend" found out she had to take a hair test, she spent about 5 sleepless nights doing the research.

Good luck!

P.S. The car business has been good! :)

I got called in for an interview at Food City, they took a drug test for pre-employment....?

It checks for marijuana, cocaine metabolite, amphetamines, methamphetamines, opiates, codeine and morphine...
Okay so now that we know what they look for in drug test... (BTW it was the kind of test where I had to chew on cotton)
The only thing they will find in my system is hydrocodone because I had went to the hospital the day before, and I had took 7.5 when I woke up that morning and then the grocery store called to set up an interview.... I guess what I want to know is if they will still hire me, I DO NOT DO ANY DRUGS, I DO NOT smoke pot or anything, it was just the pain killers which I got filled at the store that I will be working at lol... if I fail will they call me and let me know, or what will happen, will I pass or not? Someone please help... Thanks in advance :)

Great interview at PetSmart... Drug tested! Did I get the job?!?

So, Petsmart is opening at new location in our area, and to be honest- I was VERY excited. The closest one had been a county away, even though I was an avid visitor- I didn't want that commute to work. I have quite a few years of manager experience, but in order to assure I got a job, I simply applied for cashier. I only need something part time right now- so I figured that was my best shot.

Long story short, I applied, got called a week later- and yesterday, had my interview. It went GREAT and I spoke with both managers while there. The head manager continued to tell me how impressed she was with my vocational and people skills, as well as how outgoing I was. She said she was VERY much looking forward to talking with me again. I stood up, and was shaking her hand- and she continued talking about our pets (we had been doing that throughout the entire interview), and then handed me a 'chain of command' paper and told me I had 24 hours to take my drug test.. which I am doing today at 2PM. She explained pay, benefits, and how she wanted to train me for a floor manager- not a cashier- and went on to say she couldn't officially offer me a job until she called me back with the results of my drug test.... I told her there would be NO issue with the drug test, and she smiled and said in that case she'd be talking to me on Monday or Tuesday...

Pretty much just wanting to know everyone else experience with Petsmart and ESPECIALLY new stores and how that works. Also wanting to know, if I didn't have the job (barring I pass the before mentioned drug test), would they bother sending me to take a drug test? She said they would begin training second week in April.... Store opens in May.

Does the Marine Corps give unannounced drug tests at interviews?

I made the mistake of taking what I believed to be Benadryl, when in fact it turned out to be Adderall. I was at orientation and developed a moderately severe cold. So when one of my newly made (but no longer) acquaintances, offered me some "Benadryl" I greedily accepted it.

From what I can surmise from the internet, Adderall seems to show up as amphetamine on drug tests for up to 7 days. Any other time, I would just get over it and make sure not to accept medicine from anyone again but, I have a Marine Corps OCS interview on Monday (Two days after I took it).

So my question is, will the Marine Corps give a random unannounced drug test at the interview?

I am not a drug user and would hate to have my military career ruined because of a bad mistake.

Thank you,

D
