Drugstore Makeup Hurts My Eyes

Drug-store makeup Vs. High-end makeup, Which is better or are there the same?

It depends what kind of makeup you're talking about.

Eyeshadow: High end makeup is MUCH better. It has more pigment.

Mascara: It doesn't matter. I use drugstore because there really isn't a difference and I'm not going to waste money :) (but don't get The Falsies Mascara... It's really bad.)

Foundation/Cover-Up: High end makeup. But if you want drugstore, I'd suggest L'oreal. I wouldn't trust any other drugstore brand for foundation!

Eyeliner: USUALLY It doesn't matter. My eyeliner(drugstore) is L'oreal Extra Intense Liquid Pencil Liner. It is AMAZING. I also have Urban Decay from Sephora and to be honest, it's not as good as the L'oreal!

Blush: It doesn't really matter. You can't go wrong with blush!

Hope this helped!

Will eye makeup ruin your eyes?

Wearing it? No.
Sleeping in it? Likely.

1) The makeup left overnight will probably irritate your eyes. I'm guessing that the puffiness is from irritation and from the makeup blocking the tear ducts and hair follicles; do your eyelids hurt when you touch them, especially near the lash roots? If so, this is definitely an effect of the makeup, either having applied mascara too close to the roots or applying eyeliner to your waterline, or simply not washing makeup off before bed.
2) The makeup can easily flake and smear INTO your eye, which obviously is not healthy considering all the chemicals in the makeup.
3) Leaving makeup on overnight prevents most of your skin's natural regeneration process that occurs at night. Meaning that your skin can easily start to look older faster. Tugging at your eyes will also lead to wrinkling prematurely.

Wearing makeup during the day is 100% fine. Sleeping in it is what causes these issues. I'd say give your eyes another week or so, and use warm and cold compresses on them to help with the puffiness. It might take a while for your eyes to get back to normal because of how poorly you've been caring for them, but I'd say that wearing makeup again is fine. Just DO NOT WEAR LINER ON YOUR WATER LINE! This can easily cause more issues and more blockage. And remember, wash ALL your makeup off before bed, ensure that there is NOTHING left.

Oh and, I shower with my eye makeup on, and it's never had any negative impact on my eyes. So, if you shower at night, use that time to remove your eye makeup properly.

Makeup remover accidentally got into my eyes . Now it hurts badly . Will it get worse ?

Flush it out with warm water, it's going to sting but it won't be too serious. It's happened to all of us at one point or another. Try getting a parent or sibling to help you flush it because it's going to hurt and you might want to remove it. And make sure the water is luke warm!

Maybelline and loreal mascaras hurt my eyes?

I have the non waterproof one by one right now and after applying it my eyes hurt.. my eyes hurt after I used the million lashes by loreal too.... i have really small lashes so i try to get really close to the lashline. the only mascara that doesn't make my eyes hurt is the lash last line from cover girl and I do the same method of application but I hate being limited to only those mascaras. why do my eyes hurt when using these brands of mascaras?

Cosmetic Colored Contacts at Drugstore?

The $20 deal or inexpensive colored contacts on the market for this 1 size fits all is bogus. You can purchase without a prescription and get them at retail outlets & online, but I wouldn't advise it. A lot of people have problems with them and unfortunately choose to ignore it and wear them any way. My neighbor bought some of those and it gave her an eye infection. Like you, all she wanted was to change her eye color & tried to save money. Now she has a doctor bill.

I've been wearing contacts for 20 years. Not everyone shares the same eye shape. It's important to be fitted properly for contact lenses according to the base curve and diameter of your eyes, even if your vision is perfect. Color contact lenses also fit much differently than regular lenses and you may not be able to use them - some can't or find them uncomfortable or have large pupils and don't see out of them very well. My first pair of colored contacts were irritating after I wore them for a few hours and had to exchange them. There are different brands, so it's best to try them on with a professional and see what works for you...but fit is the most important. Good fitting lenses, should not feel noticeable when you have them in. Wearing something uncomfortable in your eyes or that you can't clearly see out of or hurts, for the sake of having colored contacts is not good. You only have 1 set of eyes and you don't want to damage them. Spend a little more money and get fitted & buy quality contacts. If you do decide to get these bargain contacts, stop wearing them asap if you feel any discomfort at all. Be careful, just b/c some people can wear them doesn't mean everyone can. In my opinion, I wouldn't do it.

Can anyone recommend a good eye makeup remover that wont hurt my eyes?

I recommend L'Oreal Eye Oil-Free Makeup Remover. I love it! Very gentle, rinses easily after application, and affordable at less than $6.

Did you know that L'Oreal owns Lancome (as well as Garnier, Maybelline, Redken, Matrix, Armani, Ralph Loren....) So it's a great tip to remember that if there is a luxury brand which falls under L'Oreal's "umbrella", chances are you'll be able to find an equivalent at your local drugstore made by L'Oreal!

Lastly - do not use Vaseline. It is next to impossible to remove it completely from your lashes, and it will make the next day's mascara application much more likely to smear. Yes, you could wash your eyelids after using the Vaseline, to remove the last traces....but do you really want to treat such a delicate area so harshly? Take care of your eye area, and you'll be thanking yourself in another 15 years!

Good luck!

What brand mascara is best? Aka will not hurt my eyes halfway through the day?

I like Tom Ford Extreme Waterproof mascara in Black Noir 01. It does not run. I don’t believe in scrimping on mascara. I also like Bobbi Brown mascara. An interesting mascara is the Besame Cake Mascara. You can use it for mascara, eyeliner, and brows so it really is a one stop shop. My eyes are “extremely” sensitive. They water like crazy and are rheumy. I also like Urban Decay Perversion. I really loved trying new mascara but I won’t buy drugstore because I am growing out some effects of a Maybelline mascara that made my eyelashes fall out. I recommend high end mascaras because of their high quality ingredients. I do not buy cheap mascara.

How do I wash off makeup?

I personally hate make-up wipes and only use them for small fixes or to refresh. They dry my skin out, often cause break out or sensitivity because I have a sensitive skin, and make me feel sticky. I love to use micellar water (Garnier, very cheap and very efficient, Mixa, Biolane, etc) that leaves me very clean and fresh-faced and is so quick and easy to use, but my favorite way is to use a cleanser. I use the Clinique Take the Day Off Balm, which works wonders and doesn’t hurt my eyes while breaking down all of my make-up. I also like Lush’s Ultrabland, although if your skin is a bit more on the oily side, Clinique is far better (but if you have very dry skin, Lush is great at night to moisturize your face!).

How does fake brand makeup affects your skin?

Almost always “fakeup” gives people very bad reactions on their eyes, face, and lips. This can range from an acne breakout to chemical burns.Fake makeup is very dangerous and often made with dangerous harmful chemicals that can ruin your skin. It can peel your lips, burn your face, and swell your eyes.No matter how tempting the price is for counterfeit makeup, NEVER EVER buy it, and it will never be “just as good”.If you really want a product, or can’t afford it, research drugstore dupes. This will save you money and your skin :)PSA: Do NOT buy makeup that is not sold by the original retailer or partners. To see where else this brand is sold, visit their website.Example: Morphe is now partnered with Ulta, and you can find Morphe products in Ulta locations as well as Planet Beauty!
