Ds Should I Get My Dog Castrated

What is the difference in the procedure for castrating an animal (dog, horse, etc.), and a human?

When you are talking about a surgical castration, there is actually not much difference, except you suture the scrotum afterwards. Frequently in animals they leave the scrotum incision open so it can drain. In humans the put a in a drain and remove it in a week or so.They also do bloodless castrations on animals. Some humans have also tried this method though it is very painful. There are two main ways this is accomplished. Banding, and the burdizzo style emasculator. In both ways you shut off the blood flow by constricting with the bands and smashing with the burdizzo, of the spermatic cord between the body and the testicles. Without blood flow the testicles die and are absorbed by the body over time.

Have the Unsullied been completely castrated? If so, why do they still have well developed muscles? Varys doesn't.

I believe the gimmick of the Unsullied being castrated is poorly portrayed.Yes, they have done nothing but train since they were small boys. Yes, they could have well developed muscles.Like a cat or dog, you neuter them to make them less aggressive, more manageable, and stop them from having the urge to pee on all your stuff. (Sometimes they still do.) You also do it to stop them from reproducing. The idea behind castration for the Unsullied to make them more obedient to their masters and less to their own urges or needs. If their sex drive isn’t a factor, they are less likely to ignore their orders and being unable to reproduce, they can’t start families. But a prepubescent castration will also have other effects. They will be taller. They will not develop as much muscle or strength,Their voices will be high and childlike. They will not be inherently aggressive. They will not grow hair on their bodies, but will keep the hair on their heads. From records back when castration was fairly common, we have stories of eunuchs being considered very attractive, intelligent and pious. If someone thought they could win a war with a eunuch army, it would have been attempted. Boys were castrated for their careers (either in church or state) as a matter of course in many cultures. Eunuch slaves were the most expensive, making it economically viable to perform castrations even when a high number of the slaves died after the operation.Back to G0T- the Unsullied should be tall, with hairless bodies but nice heads of hair and what really would be hard to watch- high voices. Muscles could be developed, voices could not.But they could make a beautiful, heavenly choir. And be trusted to manage your affairs.

Whats the oldest age that you can get your dog neutered?

There is no age limit, however the older an animal is the harder the recovery time and the worse anesthesia hits their system. I would be concerned if he would be strong enough to survive the operation, recovery, an anesthesia, but only a vet can answer that. Even with being neutered, at that age it has become a habit and training would be required and your best bet.

ADD: The age limit is actually 8 weeks (and 2 pounds), not 6 months. If you can be responsible enough to keep your dog from breeding, 6 months is great, but most places who adopt out dogs (like rescues) want to be doubly sure of that and will spay/neuter their pups and kits by 8 weeks.

What's the oldest you can spay/neuter a dog?

There is no age limit. As long as the dog is healthy and can tolerate the anesthetic he can be neutered.

Can a male dog that's neutered get a female pregnant?

No because they physically take out the reproductive organs so that's not possible and if a pregnant dog was supposed to be fixed they obviously didn't remove the organs correctly and if you the male dog and it got the female pregnant and you were the one that was supposed to be fixed not the female then obviously they did a shitty job fixing the male dog and if they were both supposed to be fixed and got pregnant from each other then whoever did both of them should be fired so I will again say no they cannot get each other pregnant because the reproductive organs are removed when they are fixed

Does neutering my dog stop him from running away (chasing female dogs)?

Dogs need to be trained to come, stay, sit, lie down etc. Neutering, once the testerone has lessened will reduce a lot of the behavioral problems, but not completely. It will alleviate most of the urges to fight other male unneutered dogs.A neutered dog is a happier, healthier dog and with training some/most of the negative behaviors should improve. Of course different breeds will have tendencies to certain behaviors.

I thought my dog was spayed but....?

I would consult a vet. Some times a uterine stump will have enough ovarian tissue inadvertently left to cause hormonal changes in a female simulating a heat to the male dog through the scent of pheromones. Sometimes someone will not be honest about spaying because they really want you to take their dog. Your vet should be able to ultra sound for a uterus, or do a contrast xray to detect if she really is spayed. If she is not, have it done right away to prevent pups.

Can cats still have intercourse when both are spayed and neutered?

When I was a teenager we had a male cat and a female cat, both of whom had been neutered/spayed at five or six months of age, who would copulate every once in a while right in the middle of the living room. It was excruciatingly embarrassing to me (most young teens are deeply embarrassed by sex and I was no exception). However, it didn't happen often and it didn't happen on any sort of regular schedule, thank God!

Day after neuter and my dog is panting hard?

I got my dog from the animal shelter today. He was neutered yesterday morning. I seen him yesterday and he seemed to be doing great. Picked him up this morning, all was well, and he started panting halfway through the day. Now he can't sleep and can't get comfortable. He's licked the incision very little. It doesn't appear to be red or swollen. There is a little dried mucus stuff on there but it's not continuing to ooze. He's just laying down panting really hard. Still eating and drinking, peeing and pooping, still pretty excited. Just panting like crazy and seems to be in pain. Is this normal? Suggestions? They didn't give me pain meds. :(
