Dying Dark Auburn Hair Brown

Dying dark brown hair to black?

If I were you I would not put black dye on my hair. It is really scary looking. Also, if you decided to go lighter black is a very hard color to remove. Black has the tendency to grab. If you want a darker, richer color and you are doing the coloring yourself, I would advise going for a dark brown and if you don't want a red tone get a dark ash brown. Ash tones down orange and red. Dark brown normally will look black. If you go black you are risking the chance of it looking a "blue black" and it is not very becoming. Almost any hairdresser as well as even advice on a box of color tells you to choose a color that is one to two shades lighter. Try a medium or dark ash brown first, and if you are doing it yourself and you have long hair and want an even color from roots to ends buy two boxes. My daughter has dark brown hair and we learned the hard way. Then when she wanted to highlight it was hard to do because the dark hair color was hard to lift off the hair. Hope this helps..

How would I turn my dyed red hair back to dark brown?

Red is one of the hardest colors to maintain and also the hardest to get rid of Ash gets rid of red and going with a dark brown you shouldn't run into any problems. Like always, i recommend having your hair done by a licensed professional colorist but if you choose to do it on your own, this is what you'll need…Let me just clarify this for you… you will be able to get rid of the red but eventually some red will still come through so it might take you more than once or twice to get rid of the red. But to start off… mixing these 2 permanent hair color, use 1/2 Natural Dark Brown and 1/2 Dark Ash Brown with a 20 Volume Cream DEVELOPER. Apply root to ends for about 40 minutes. The red should be gone and be sure to use shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair. The reason why I dont recommend using straight ash color is because if it is too much ash, your hair will most likely look drab and unnatural if straight ash isnt needed.Usually a 4 week time frame is the best amount of time to determine whether or not your red hair is going to need another coloring. If you feel too much red has come through the dark brown, Then i would say to go ahead and just straight Dark ash Brown this time. And if you are not looking to cover any grey roots, instead of using a permanent Color this time around, go ahead and use a semi or demi. Apply from root to end, leaving it to process for about 30–40 min. This should do the trick.Good luck

Dying Black hair brown?

I have naturally red hair, I am a guy but my hair is pretty long it reaches down to my chin all around.. I dyed it black for about a year now and I want to go brown.. I tried dying it a medium shade of brown yesterday and a light shade of brown today.. I know im not suppost to mix the 2 but so far its fine, but color wise its still black.. the red roots are a little darker.. but I let the dye sit in my hair for about 30 minutes each time I did it.. and still no results.. any help on getting rid of this black hair? =)

Dying red hair brown by yourself?

Sounds like a good idea to me! Coloring your hair by yourself isn't hard, and it costs much less than having it done at a salon. Do the color after every cut and no one can tell that you dye your hair. The cut distracts them. There are kits to touch up roots if you can't get around to doing a complete dye job when you need to. I haven't tried them, but I always think to myself it can't be easier to dab at those roots than it is coloring everything at once, and wouldn't matching your current color *exactly* at the roots be a bear?

Changing red for brown should be easy. The colors are in the same family, especially convenient if you like auburn (in your case, dyed brown with natural red highlights).

Go to the pharmacy hair care products aisle or the one at the grocery store and compare boxes. Most will show you pictures of your current shade and what the dye will make your hair look like, approximately. Package instructions will take you step by step through the process of coloring. Using one product with no highlighting takes me about forty minutes.

All haircolor instructions ask you to please test the product on the inside of your elbow for a couple of days before you color. I've found I'm allergic to Loreal, my skin turned all hot, red, and itchy during the test. I guess I'm not "worth it"! I was sooo grateful I'd bothered to check before I used the product, even though it caused a delay in coloring and cost me a little money. Can you imagine that reaction over your entire scalp?

The cost of haircolor is between seven and sixteen dollars in my area. The expensive stuff contains color, conditioner, and a highlighting kit. Highlights can be painted on, or hooked in strands through a dorky looking cap and then lightened. Bleach kits are also available, if you want to prepare for a big change, like, say, blue.

Dying my dark brown hair red without bleaching?

i have dark hair and used to dye it dark red all the time. depends what kind of dark red you want it. it probably wont be a firey red, but a deep auburn color. mine often came out as if it had highlights in it (maybe i just didnt dye it good enough) lol but it always looked good. as for bleaching it afterwards, i have no idea, i would maybe talk to a hairdresser on that one

How do you dye red hair brown?

Well it depends on how picky you are, he he. Honestly there is really only one way to color red hair to brown ( meaning it is only brown, with no remaining hue of red at all ), & that is by lightening/bleaching the hair. Red is very difficult to remove, & because of this you need to use bleach to lift the hair enough levels that all the warm red tones are gone, but hold up, you're not at brown just yet I'm afraid. Nope, now you need to add brown color to the pre lightened ( not appealing big bird yellow ) shade you've achieved, but it should be not too dark as the bleached hair will now grab darker then the brown shade you chose. However you should be sure to pick a shade, that is one to two lighter then the one you want. Oh, but wait, there's more!! Now you must be sure that you don't pick a shade that's a warm brown or the red tones you just bleached away will be readied, & pop back up. The only other option without bleaching is to color it black, ( not brown, even dark brown will allow red tones to show through, but true black ). Black will cover just about anything, but like red it needs to be bleached if you want it removed, & to go any other color. So why the long winded answer? So that you don't play mad scientist with chemical experiment, & instead go to a proffesional! Trust me, it's just not worth it to do yourself, & even if you're an exceptional quick learner you still need to know about protein, masks, conditioning treatments etc… to save your hair from the certain damage it will incur from doing it all yourself. Hey if you just want to go a shade or two lighter, or darker then what you have naturally then I say go for it, & try it at home. THAT is when box color is okay IMO, but any other like the red to brown just save yourself time, money, & your hair, & please just go to a stylist.

How to remove permanent dark Auburn hair dye?

I have been dying my hair dark burgundy brown for over a year now and I am getting a little sick of it.
It looks really pretty, its just that I want to go back to my natural color of dark ashy blonde.

I have a good grow out and I haven't dyed it since June. Also, when I was dying it back in June
I was dying it a darkest golden brown thinking it would help blend the colors more. The results were actually really pretty just not what I was wanting.

So anyways, that's the resent bio on my hair, but I was hoping that someone could tell me
how to remove the very permanent hair dye and try to go to a blondish color.

Or if someone could explain what I could do and what would happen as a result.

Hope someone can help me!

Can I mix red hair dye and brown hair dye?

As I have been a hairdresser for 3 years, I don't see how that want work. you will get a brown result with a hint of red. Keep it to the same brands of colour tho, as the ingredients vary in different brands and may have a reaction if two different brands are used. If you are not feeling very optimist is about it take a trip to your local hairdressers and they can sort it out in no time for you. Good Luck

How do you dye red hair light brown?

It depends on the level of red, and the type of dye used to get to red plus the type of dye used to get to brown. Assuming good product, and a level 7 red, to get to a level 6 brown, let's look at our color wheel to see how to formulate. So, you are at red. Human brown pigment is usually three parts yellow, two parts red, and one part blue. So if you have red red red red red, some super-red color, you need a lot of yellow and some blue to make up for it. In other words, you need green. Let's say your hair is really red, or RRRR.RRRRFor every RR, you need YYY and B, or 1.5 Y and 0.5 B for every R. So, you want to either lift the RRRR to RRRR (-RR)and add YYY and B(+B)RR (-RR)(+YYY)to get your brown. OR, you need to blast more color in there with more B and Y.(+BB)RRRR(+YYYYYY)But wait!!!Your hair at level 6 RRRR already has yellow in it!At level 7, your hair has a gold contributing pigment. You need to take this into account, by either lifting the YYY, or not depositing it.Start over, with your calculations, or move on to the next paragraph.I would lift it, everything is much cleaner, and color at that level already has lifting ingredients in order to get you to the desired result. Take your Level 6 Brown, add 20 vol, add perhaps a tiny dash of blue or green pigment, and voila, you have a beautiful color. The 20 Vol instead of 10 vol will make sure the red and yellow pigment is lifted, and will help get through those undertones. Red pigment is actually the easiest to remove from hair and the hardest to put into the hair (it is the largest chemical pigment before oxidation). Good luck!

Do you have to bleach brown hair to dye it red?

No, it really depends on the shade of red you want. Check out boxed dyes to get an idea of how it will come out. If you want a more natural red, you can dye it blonde (without bleach) and then do a red after.
