East Asian History Paper Topic

Islamic history research essay topic?

Hey I need some suggestions for a 4-5 research essay on Islamic history. Here is what the rubric says:

• If you are writing on your own topic: The topic of your research essay must be related to Islamic civilization. In temporal terms, this means you are at liberty to explore a topic from any era of Islamic history. In spatial terms, you are free to explore a topic set in any part of the world. Because Islam is a global phenomenon and not just limited to the Middle East, this means East Asia, Europe, North America, South America, etc.

What is SCAP? realting to East Asian history.?

What is the exact HISTORY of POVERTY in the PHILIPPINES?

Well as far as I know when Marcos comes to power in the Philippines, Philippines is the most developed country in South-east Asia, or can say in the region. When USA gave independence to Philippines, they still helped to developed it.Philippines was one of the growing tigers of Asia.

But when Marcos declared martial law, everything went downhill. Investors kept away and devaluation of the Peso.
Oil crisis of the 70s also affected this period of time as when US gives support to Israel, the oil producing arab countries cut down their oil production thus sending a crisis throughtout the world.

High inflation and higher commodities prices like now led to protests against Marcos and he himself overspend on the election period in 1969.

History judged a man. There is no such thing as exact history of poverty in the Philippines. There is a lot of factors ya? Can be the centralisation of the economy in Manila, Cebu and Subic/clark. Can be the distance and poor infrastruture of the Philippines?
Can be the corruption that grip the country and hold it to its track?

What would be an ideal topic for a research paper to be written by an economics undergraduate for the first time?

Economics is about solving society's problems through the effective use of resources. Since you are in India, I would suggest you to take a real Indian social problem and start rigorously analyzing from the eyes of an economist. That would greatly help your mind as well as your future career. Don't take some random, canned topic just to pass your exams. Some suggestions:Causes for farmer suicides: Start going through the economic issues that is leading to our farmer suicides and ideally combine that with a field visit or two to a neighboring village. Interview a few people to get the human side and add rigor by referencing top developmental economists such as Sachs and Sen. Effective alternatives for subsidies in India: What are the most wasteful types of subsidies in India? What are the ways in which those can be restructured? Don't just bring a theoratical solution, but anchor it with ground realities. Even if you can bring a practical alternative to one small, but wasteful subsidy programme you could become a superstar.Comparative study between India and developing countries in Latin America/ Africa / East Asia. What are the specific policies, programmes, activities and regulations that India can learn? Why does it make a real economic sense?Banking reforms - What are the banking reforms that would improve India's overall financial health? What are some effective policy/programmes that are implemented in various parts of India that other parts of India can copy/adopt? Why are they good and what are their economic costs?Be laser sharp and look to solve one real problem of India - even if it just impacts 10 people.

How do I choose a thesis topic?

The most important variable in choosing your thesis topic is whether or not the topic is something you are really, truly, deeply passionate about. If the answer is no, move on to something else. The easiest way to write a good paper is to write it about something you love.Once you have found a topic you care about, find an aspect of it that you would like to learn more about. Find something that interests you enough that you can spend the next several months researching it and writing about it. If you don't know whether or not this would be the case, try researching it for a couple of hours or a couple of days. If you're bored stiff, find a different aspect to focus on.Alright! You have now found something you care about, that you would also like to expand your knowledge of. At this point, you're probably going to want to narrow down your topic a little more, preferably to something that would contribute valuable knowledge to your field. For instance, I may be really passionate about computer security, and I'm curious as to where end-users get their information about it, so I decide to research how topic distribution varies across computer security news articles, stories, and education documents. It's no thesis, but choosing the topic follows approximately the same pattern. So, in order to choose a great thesis topic, or a great topic for any paper, you need to 1) find something you care about, 2) find an aspect you would like to learn more about, and 3) find a facet of that which would be interesting and relevant to your field. Thanks for the A2A!
