Eating Less To Loose Weight

Can eating less make you lose weight?

These questions are so mundane....there is only one way to lose weight, burn more calories than you take in, that's it, no secret, nothing special, and you don't even have to eat healthy, it has nothing to do with nutrients but calories. There are 3500 calories in a pound of fat, so you have to burn that many calories more than what you eat just to lose one pound ( 3500 calories is roughly equivalent to walking 35 miles)

if you eat 2000 calories a day and want to lose a half pound of fat a day then you need to burn 3750 calories a day.

Eating less not loosing weight?

You are kidding me right?

The reason you aren't losing weight is because your body thinks its being starved, therefore your metabolism has slowed right down so any food you do take in, your body is clinging on to it for all its worth.

You really should be eating a proper breakfast, oatmeal or rye toast, a good lunch (salad / veg, lean protein, some carbs) and a similar dinner. The apples will be the snacks throughout the day, plus plenty of water.

Yes, you are only eating 1500 cals a day but these are really bad calorie choices. Make the right choices and you will see any un-necessary weight come off BUT at your height, your weight is fine.

Does eating less make you lose weight? Why or why not?

Not necessarily. There are a couple of variables which will come into play here which will influence your weight. What food you eatDifferent foods have a spectrum of nutrients, all of which influence your biochemistry uniquely.Energy metabolism, the burning of food for fuel is altered based on the array of nutrients present in various foods.Take for example Capsaicin. This is the pungent principal of chilli peppers. This shifts energy metabolism towards the burning of fat for fuel.Generally, whole foods produce favourable metabolic outcomes as opposed to processed and ready made foods. How Much you eatPotion sizes have, and always will be a component of weight loss/weight gain. The typical approach is to look at calories when considering this.More calories consumed/burned does not necessarily result in weight gain. Again, it depends on what food you are eating and its effect on metabolism. Its not about the calories; its about the food the calories come from.Nutrient dense foods, which pack a spectrum of nutrients will ensure a healthy metabolism.Of course if you eat huge amounts of food you will gain weight, but its just not as black and white as its made out to be.Eat less, burn more = weight loss.Add in metabolic effects of food and you have a more accurate picture of what influences weight loss/gain.More info

Will you lose weight simply by eating less?

Short answer: yes.Longer answer: yes, but only for so long (get it? I actually put the word "long" in my "long answer." Clever, huh?)What I mean is that if you change nothing else about yourself, your lifestyle, or your activity habits, and only change by eating less, than you should lose weight. However, that will only work until you lose enough weight that you are now eating that amount to sustain your current weight. Then, the options are to either eat even less (not the first choice I'd make), or increase your activity. When clients reach a plateau, the first thing to do ideally is increase activity before cutting calories (eating less).Usually a minimum of 3 hours of activity is great to burn some good calories and make changes happen. If they plateau after that, we then cut calories slightly (maybe 200 per day, not the same for everyone). If they plateau again, usually another bump up of activity will cause some more good change, and cutting calories again is a last resort. So, to answer the question, yes, eating less will help you lose weight. For awhile.Hope that helps,-BradP.S. - If you want a free 25-page guide on why your weight loss stalled, and how to eat better to fix it, you can check that out as well.
