This works out very well if you know someone who has the time and patience to sit down and edit for you. My last bit of advice would be to write and revise with separation. Try to take a break after writing your essay, so that the same set of eyes that were accustomed to writing the essay are not the ones that edit it. By giving your brain and eyes some rest, read over your paper after about half an hour of doing something else, maybe like eating a snack or watching TV. This will get your mind of the paper, and when you return to it, it will be clean and refreshed to revise.
