Edm Music Production House/dubstep

How do I start EDM production with no musical background ?

You better start off with FL Studio. It’ll be easier.Musical experience is important, You should be completely through and known to the genre you’re gonna produce. Everything develops with time. The answers to your question -EDM production can be learned from scratch. But you need to have your will power stronger than ever. But yes, Musical theory is necessary. Music theory helps you with various things about what comes next or what should’ve come here. Download FL Studio and start watching the tutorials on YouTube.Music theory is important. I wouldn’t say that it is necessary as long as you believe in your ears (Which is hard and comes with experience.) Learn atleast one instrument, that’d be enough.I am happy to see your determination. Yes, 2–3 hours per day for learning and watching tutorials would be enough for (6 months.) Yes, 6 months. Only learn and gain experience. Once you think you can go ahead, start experimenting in your DAW. It’ll take you almost a year for full production experience. (Don’t fear failure!)Necessary? I don’t think so. Because the money you’d invest in it isn’t worth it. If you really wanna spend money to learn, join Lost Stories Music Academy. By the way, There are lot of masterclass/How we made it classes on YouTube. Do watch them, they’re really helpful. And, Lessons of KSHMR! They’re available for free on YouTube. It will be difficult but not impossible. Once you’ve mastered one genre, you are free to explore more. I’d recommend you to watch HeadHunterz’s Youtube videos. How from a hardstyle producer, he turned to House and Future bass.Hope I’ve answered them accordingly. Never give up on your dreams! Keep learning and have fun!Cheers!

How can I learn how to make dubstep, trap, and EDM music?

You need proper software and knowlageFor software recommendation i would give you this: Digital Beat Making Software and the rest you need to : Learn the basics of musicNow I’m in no doubt that some of you reading this have experience from playing instruments or being a vocalist so this step may not be relevant. If thats you. Skip this step and read the other steps because they ARE relevant. Now if you’ve never made music or played and instrument you may feel completely confused about where to start, but everyone starts somewhere. So I’d do your research and learn about these basics bullet points:– Learn what a Beat & Bar is (not a place where you go and get drunk).– Learn what a time signature is.– Learn about BPM (Beats Per Minute)View a tutorial that covers all of the above– Learn the difference between major and minor keys. – View tutorial– Learn what KEY is and means. – View tutorial– Learn an instrument, I highly recommend learning to play the piano. Because if you’re going to be a producer. You’ll be using the keyboard/piano layout a lot. – View tutorial– Learn basic chords and chord sequences. – View tutorialNow learning all of the above may take a while and some of the tutorials may be a bit long winded. But If you know the basics of all the above you’ll have a massive advantage when it comes to producing your own electronic dance music, why? Because you’ll have the understanding of how songs work and how they’re structured. This gives you an amazing starting point.

EDM (electronic dance music) is an umbrella term for trance, house, dubstep, drum n bass, techno, trap etc

Just go on the Beatport genre section to get an idea of the difference between genres. To be honest, the site isn't a great indication of the different genres as there is huge variation within each, but even so, it's a starting point.

Big-room house:
Martin Garrix - Animals

Progressive house:
Innerspace (Dan & Sam Club Mix)

Dubstep:
Forensix - First Dynasty

Brostep:
Flux Pavillion - I Can't Stop

Liquid dubstep:
Adventure Club feat. Yuna - Gold

Pure Trance:

What is the difference between dubstep, electronic, techno, and house music?

I'll just explain the three you've given:Also there's going to be a lot of examples. I've been flicking through my record collection.DUBSTEPDubstep is usually somewhere between 130-140 bpm, but mostly 140.The term is coined from the fusion of Jamaican style Dub music and 2-step.It's sub-genre of UK garage music so the beats tend to be of a breakbeat 2-step style. The snare will either be on the 3rd beat OR the 2nd and 4th for that faster 90s Garage style which uses a more fast-paced rhythm.Heavy use of triplet rhythms and cross-rhythms. Drums will also probably sound highly compressed, tight and mixed with a bit of reverb to sound a little more 'spacey'.Older dubstep tends to be more relaxed with lots of sub bass, the wobble doesn't always appear in older styles. Newer dubstep has aggressive drums and synths and a 4-to-the-floor beat is not uncommon.Older dubstep sounds more 'shuffle' than newer dubstep which sounds more 'dance'.Some examples of classic Dubstep tunes ranging from old-school to new-school:Ghost Rider - El-B (2007)Midnight Request Line - Skream (2005)Bass Cannon - Flux Pavilion (2011)Machine Gun - Noisia (2010)ELECTRONICRefers to any music with predominantly electronic instruments.TECHNOTechno is often characterised by a 4-to-the-floor beat although oldschool techno does contain breakbeats. Techno is typically 135-145 bpm.90s techno often has lots more percussion than synths and the main focus was rhythm. Modern techno tends to be more pop-influenced and melodic with simpler percussion.90s techno was a lot more 'futuristic' than today's techno. Modern techno is more melodic and pop-inspired. Examples ranging from old to new are below:Cybotron - Clear (1983)Chime - Orbital (1989)Kernkraft 400 - Zombie Nation (1999)Crazy. Sexy. Marvellous - Paffendorf (2002)HOUSEHouse also uses 4-to-the-floor beats like techno and also like techno, oldschool house contained more complex beats than modern house music. House music is normally 120-130 bpm.House music is more inspired by funk/disco if anything and sounds more 'groovy' than techno.Modern house has a more minimal feel to it with influences from modern electro.Examples below:Strings of Life - Rhythim is Rhithim (1987)Don't Stop - Ruff Driverz (1998)Killer - Starkillers (2008)Disclosure - Jaded (2015)
