Do you have an Emergency Plan?
Without sounding too dismal, it is beyond our imagination as to what human beings are capable of today. In the past, it was usually known as to what to expect in an emergency situation and most were prepared, materially and mentally, if that doesn't sound too contradictory..today is much different. This would certainly be true for some natural disasters, as they can usually be predicted ahead of time and allow people to act accordingly. The worst case scenario would undoubtedly be a nuclear disaster, where one would be better off at ground zero rather than to survive, albeit for short period of time. There would be little time to prepare and the chaos would rival the worst confusion in Hell, itself. The human mind would not be capable of handling such an incident, were it to unfold. I have seen this panic once before in my lifetime, and was astounded at the actions that humans commit in the moments that they believe will be their last. One can really only be prepared to die and be accepting of such a fact. Our Lord Jesus Christ tells us not to worry about the "future" for we know not what the future holds. There are no emergency plans for the soul. That is a lifelong drill.
He left me stranded. What do I do now? Emergency!!?
Tonight I flew across the country to visit my ex. Long story short, we broke up cause of long distance and we were still very close. I flew in at 7 tonight and he was going to pick me up. I had talked to him every day this week, so I know he knew the day and time I was coming. you can see where this was going. well i flew in and called him. I didn't hear from him so I called him repeatedly with no answer. Finally at midnight, I couldn't stay at the airport so I took a cab to his apartment (I had his address). I went to the door and his roommate answered. I found out from him that my ex was in his room hooking up with a girl he met at a bar just an hour ago. I confronted him, and it was a HUGE scene. I left the apartment with him running after me apologizing, but I got away and went to a hotel. what do I do now? i'm stuck here for 3 days. He keeps calling me to apologize saying he forgot I was coming that day. I'm never going to forgive him. but what do i do now? I'm stuck in this hotel for 3 days. What would you do in my shoes?
Dental emergency? Can it wait or not?
I've had a cavity for a really long time but no money or insurance to get it fixed. Now I will have dental insurance in 1 month, but of course now I think I may have an emergency and don't know if I can wait until my insurance kicks in to see a dentist. Above the tooth, I have a swollen little ball-like pocket in my gums. It is painful to the touch. I don't know if I can treat it at home for a month, otherwise I'll go into debt paying for it now. Thoughts?
I went to the emergency room last night and...?
What were you in the ER for? Was it for you or someone else? How late were you there last night? I mean if it was you and you had some type of injury or sickness and it was late when you got home then I could see that you should be able to take a day off. But if you just don't want to go because you have high anxiety then you need to learn to not let this control your life. You should face your fear and get up in front of the class. These are life lessons your mom is trying to teach you. She knows that you are going to have to overcome this fear of speaking in front of people and the only way to do it is to face it head on. If you continue to try to use your anxiety as an excuse for not doing something then you are going to miss out on a lot of things. Looks like your mom has already given you the morning off so suck it up and just get those last 3 periods over and done with. You will feel so much better about yourself if you would just do it!
Family emergency & my job suspended me now I can't get my final check?
So I had an incident happen to me at work. I had an emergency my mother called my job & I answered the phone. She told me to come home cause she was taking my daughter to the ER. I hanged up with my mother told the shift lead I had an emergency told her my situation & they told me I couldn t leave. I said okay can I call her back & see my options. The assistant managers comes to the back & starts saying things to me so I hang up. I get to work & he just starts verbally assaulting me & threw food at me. I told him he didn t have to be an asswhole & started screaming at me to get out the restaurant so I did. Then about two days pass the owner comes & ask me what happen made me write down the incident & she suspended me cause of the situation while nothing happen to the Assistant manager. I got scheduled the following week & didn t show up cause I don t feel comfortable. Now they don t want to give me my last check cause I have to sign paperwork but I don t feel comfortable to return to the restaurant so I can't get a paycheck until I sign.. What can I do??
Can you actually call emergency services and “order a pizza” as a ruse for help?
I had a friend of the family who was shopping inside a Dollar General when a gunman came in and took the workers and shoppers hostage. She was able to convince the gunman to let her “call into work to tell them she’d be late”. She called 911 and informed them that she was“experiencing car trouble and would not be able to report to work today”; the 911 operator didn’t have a clue. She was even able to call back and “confirm that they received her message, and will not be in today” still… the 911 dispatcher hadn’t a clue and berated her for prank calling.The lady finally placed one more call, pretending to speak to a supervisor, but was in fact calling an ex husband. When he answered she told him, “I won’t be in today, and my husband’s brother will be working on my car”. Well, the ex knew something was wrong, because they were no longer together, and his brother and she absolutely despised each other.So, you can always try to speak in code to a 911 dispatcher, and they may very well in some cases be able to help, but there is always a chance they will have no clue what you’re doing, and assume it’s a prank.Yes, the ex alerted the police, and by the time they arrived, one worker had been shot and killed, and the gunman had taken his own life. Our friend as well as the others got to safety.
